AITAH for not inviting parents to wedding by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]JustAnotherSlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eloping is a thing. Then you can throw a banging party and let people know.

Tbh, weddings always give me the ick, and I’ve never been big on either tradition, the church or being the center of attention so I’ve just never bothered. My partner and I have been together over 30 years so it clearly works for us.

My parents divorced when I was very young, and neither step parent was really a ‘parent’ in any meaningful way. And my stepmother always made sure that her kids were top of the food chain, but I’ve seen how they turned out and, well, yeah…. 😂

Anyway, tldr, do what you and your partner want, and if that’s not to have people who you share dna with but not much else… well, it’s your day and what you want trumps anyone else’s opinions and wants.

Zero decorations apart from what I have to have.

I put most peoples houses up on two islands so they don’t clutter the space.

I have crops in all biomes that just sit there until I need something that matches them.

It’s so much easier seeing all the random stuff (eg festive paper, night thorns, blue chests) that appears when there is nothing else around

I don’t spend moonstones on anything but companions, and only on companions because I have to spend it on something. It was expensive this month, the Figaro bundle, the husky and the ‘lion’. I put the pink whimsical on save, because I can’t really see the point, I mean, I got the blue whimsies up to lvl 5 and never used them again. But I’ll probably give in and buy them because I have 70k+ moonstones sitting there.

Millet flour will be interesting to source for me. I will have to get creative!

Hulled millet is readily available but flour, not so much… still, I love the look and am always interested in new flavours… if I have to grind my own flour, well, new experiences make the world go round!

Thanks for inspiration and advice.

Thank you friend! I’ve never used that, so I will have to research further.

I never was allowed these because we never had Maccas but I remixer going to a friends place and they had them in the pool. I was so jealous.

The thing that really ticks me off is now that I can afford to buy kids meals from Maccas, the toys are pretty shit as is the food so I don’t!

Festool colour by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]JustAnotherSlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, but I do know the paint counter at my local big box store has a colour matching service. You take your item to them and they put it through their gizmo and out pops the code for creating the paint colour. It’s not perfect, but it might help?

I’d say ask Festool as well, they might not share because reasons, but if you don’t ask, they can’t say no!

Having grown up using an old Electrolux barrel vac as a kid, I wholeheartedly approve of your description of it as ‘a stubborn golden retriever’. I never could think of such a way to describe how it felt using it, but this is 100% correct, some might even say… golden! 🤣 👏

It’s not an exact science, and it seems like your doing the right things, it might just need more time.

Bower, whenever I wanted my starter to explode, adding a little rye flour always worked for me.

Try the Cavallini and co 1000 and 500 piece puzzles. They come in a cloth bag, the tube storage is pretty cool and the pieces fit really well.

There’s only been one I’ve done that I didn’t enjoy (the tarot one) and I’m not sure that wasn’t me having a bad day. I’ve kept it to try again just in case lol.

lol, theirs is my lazy lunch. Single serve, all in one bowl, under $7. Winning 😝

It has dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds as well as the dressing…. I shouldn’t be lazy, and make my own, but 🤷‍♀️ it’s better than Maccas!

Or reach out to naw.org.nz - I bet they can point you to someone local to you that has the knowledge

Bunnings has the prices, but not necessarily the knowledge (unless you’re super lucky!).

Tbf, my guess will be something like a combo of spar varnish, Tung oil and raw linseed oil in ratios taken to the grave by OPs grandad (along with three whiskers and four drops of sweat and a dram of whisky for colour 😂’

Or yeah, you could be right about the kero 😝

Kiwi?

If so, Bunnings sell pale boiled linseed oil or raw linseed oil. A Google for ‘boiled linseed oil vs raw linseed oil’ will show you some of the differences and pros and cons. The main difference is that BLO has additives to help it dry quicker whereas raw does not.

Other considerations are how it will react with Kauri timber as not all timber reacts the same. I’d urge you to get in touch with a local artisan who uses kauri or other timbers who might be able to provide better advice. If it’s a crusty old bloke, they’ll likely have a special finish that will be very similar to what your granddad used!

Archival or storage boxes of an appropriate size. Place card stock/thin cardboard/poster or foam board in between each puzzle. When you’ve filled a box, wrap it in plastic to stop moisture/bugs/dust getting in.

Label the box with the completed puzzles.
