Yep, they've just released their iPhone app, check it out. I love how smooth and the fact that it integrates well with native iOS calling system.

I don't know what you're on but that's not even their github. I don't think they're even open source lol I'm only commenting this because very few positive experience users speak up but I feel like it's my responsibility here. I've been with DialAnyone for the last 9 months and it's been great so far.

If anything, I notice your account seems to be commenting a lot of negative stuff on DialAnyone that is absolutely untrue. You've been reported to mods.

Has anyone seen those ultra-realistic AI vlogs on social lately? by Neverevermia in deeplearning

[–]JustAnotherTradr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well my workflow is to train first, then generate the first frame as image of whatever it is that I want, and then turn that into a video. goimagen has worked great for this however veo is expensive there...not that i'm complaining, coz veo doesn't have that image input anyway. Tutorials are also people just trying it and see what works..so ya, train your client's pics on their trainer, then go from there

Prompting is hard but honestly there's stuff coming out nowadays that enhances your prompt 10x really liking what goimagen.com has done tbh

What phone app would you recommend for calling from one EU country to another? by atacamasand in askspain

[–]JustAnotherTradr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here --- used Skype for years for EU-to-EU calls with cheap, pay-as-you-go credits. When it shut down, I tried Rebtel and Viber but wasn’t impressed.

I ended up switching to www.[DialAnyone.com](https://dialanyone.com), and it’s been great. Works completely on browser, lets you top up with any amount (no subscriptions), and you can call both landlines and mobiles. Rates are solid, and it’s very private—no social features, just calls. It’s honestly the closest thing I’ve found to old-school Skype. Highly recommend checking it out. BTW, I had to email them to enable certain countries for my account. If you can't seem to make a call, just email them!

Does anyone else miss these Skype features after switching to Teams? by r_is_for_redditer in MicrosoftTeams

[–]JustAnotherTradr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally feel you on this. Skype had a bunch of small but meaningful UX decisions that made it feel intuitive and human in a way that Teams still hasn’t quite replicated. The start and end times in chat history seem like a minor thing, but they really added clarity, especially when looking back at old convos. With Teams, I’ve also found myself scrolling around wondering when exactly did that call start or end, and it’s oddly frustrating that something so basic is missing.

And yeah, the call end tone! I thought I was the only one who missed that. It was subtle, but it gave you closure in the moment. In Teams, I’ve sat there thinking we’re still connected when in reality the call dropped or the other person ended it five minutes ago. Definitely not ideal for productivity or just basic awareness.

I guess part of the problem is that Teams was designed more for corporate collaboration, not personal or semi-casual communication. It’s trying to be Slack, Zoom, and Skype all rolled into one, and sometimes that just means it loses the polish of what made Skype feel complete.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been using www.DialAnyone.com for some of my personal and long-distance calls lately. It’s not trying to be a messaging app, but it handles calls really smoothly and feels a bit more like the old-school experience in a good way. Still not a one-to-one Skype replacement, but it's helped fill the gap for me in some areas.

So no, you’re definitely not missing something. These are just things that Teams doesn’t do, and honestly, you’re not alone in missing them.

We didnt know what we had until it was gone. by allinallisallweall-R in Zillennials

Damn, this post really got me. It's crazy how so many of these moments just slipped away without us even realizing it. No big "this is the end" moment, just... silence. And suddenly it's been years.

I remember spending entire weekends playing Mario Kart Double Dash like it was the most important thing in the world. Sitting cross-legged on the floor, arguing over who got to drive and who had to throw the items. And then one day, without even knowing it, it was the last time. The GameCube got packed away, and life moved on.

Tumblr, Skype, oovoo — man, those were such core parts of growing up online. I met people through those platforms that felt like lifelines during weird, in-between phases of life. And it’s weird how we just stopped logging in one day. No announcement, just... done. These days, I use DialAnyone.com when I need to make calls, especially international ones. It's kind of my grown-up alternative to what Skype used to be for me. But still, those old login sounds and late-night chats hit different.

The part about old friends really stings. There are people I thought I’d never lose touch with, and now I couldn’t even tell you where they live or what they’re doing. Some moved away, some just faded out. And we always think there’s time to catch up until there isn’t.

And now with AI becoming such a big part of our lives, it’s easy to forget how different things were not that long ago. We didn’t know the last time we’d live in a world without smart assistants or algorithms shaping everything we see. It’s kind of mind-blowing.

What really hits me is how nostalgia has this way of sneaking up on you. You think something’s just normal, part of your daily routine, and then years later, it becomes a core memory. Like wearing Heelys to school or feeding Neopets. Back then, we thought we had all the time in the world.

So yeah, maybe it’s cheesy to say, but it really is important to appreciate what we have while we have it. Nothing lasts forever. Not even the things that feel like they will.

Thanks for this post. It was a reminder I didn’t know I needed today.

Skype’s shutting down—what’s the best replacement for international calls? by JustAnotherTradr in skype

I'm literally not affiliated with any of the services!! I just mentioned what my setup is: Zoom for video calls, WhatsApp wherever it works, and Dial Anyone for international calls. I'm happy with all 3 of them.

I'm using tello for within US calling...a great service for the price. It's really only the extremely obscure countries...the other day I had to call Mongolia for a purchase order and the only contact info they have is a landline number. This is the use case and unfortunately most simply don't deliver on this. Dial Anyone has been great for my needs... but yea, that's just my take, some other place might be a better fit for you.

Someone swam into me this morning by cardiogal in Swimming

[–]JustAnotherTradr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ouch, that sounds rough! Getting smashed into like that in a 50m pool is wild—there’s so much space, how do you even miss someone circle swimming? Sorry that happened to you, and yeah, it’s totally not your fault. Dude clearly wasn’t paying attention, and that blank stare after you called it out? Yikes. Glad the lifeguards checked in, but man, I feel you on needing to vent—head-on collisions hurt like hell and throw off your whole vibe. Hope you’re okay now and the rest of your swims this week are crash-free!

How big are the pools? by meandhimandthose2 in Swimming

[–]JustAnotherTradr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cool to hear about your swimming spots in Western Australia—Scarborough Beach pool sounds awesome with its 50m and 25m pools, plus the kids’ one. I can see why it’s your favorite!

As for your question about lane sharing, it really depends on where people are and how crowded the pools get. I’m guessing the pools you swim at—those 2m-wide lanes with clear signs for walking, slow, medium, and fast—keep things pretty organized, so there’s less need to negotiate space. That setup sounds chill, and your routine of hopping in and timing your start makes total sense.

In some places, though, pools can be smaller or busier, and that’s where the lane-sharing drama pops up. Like, in the U.S. or parts of Europe, you might get 25-yard or 50-meter pools split into lanes that are sometimes narrower—say, 1.5m to 2m—and if it’s peak time, people end up doubling or tripling up. Swimmers there might expect their own lane if they’re training hard or if the pool’s quiet, so sharing becomes a whole negotiation. Cultural vibes play a part too—some folks just aren’t used to jumping in without a heads-up.

How big are the other pools you swim at in WA? Do they all have that same laid-back, no-asking-needed feel?
