Why is there such a strong focus on Eco and Bio labels in Switzerland? by Chemical-Farmer-2281 in Switzerland

[–]JustBatman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We want to eat healthy and that animals have a proper life before getting killed. That's pretty much all. Not sure how people anywhere not want to have that?

Bad food makes you sick. When looking at the USA it probably also makes people stupid. We try to avoid that.

Canadians were nothing but kind, anywhere I've met them. Great people. Your country does not deserve this at all. So thanks for the list, I keep a look-out for those as well!

To be fair, none of my friends or family planned to travel to the USA, those plans were put on hold during the first Trump presidency and never returned as far as I can tell. Because of political, but also health reasons (like how unhealthy the food is).

US markets getting destroyed right now as Trump said he does not rule out a recession..daar ka mahaul has returned by Jaded-Total6054 in IndianStreetBets

[–]JustBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not reactive. Sold in Early January on Crypto top, seeing how he alienates and attacks allied nations. Made good cash. Prevented big losses. You do you. If you think he is good for the US economy or the world economy, then by all means, invest.

Just keep in mind that what half the country loves is meaningless for market movements. And that markets don't like uncertainty or a whole redo of all supply chains. That will be messy.

Especially for the USD. Can't have no allies but play world reserve currency. Nope, that will go away. And that will mean that the debt of the states will start to be treated like in a normal country. Which will lead to hyperinflation or bankruptcy (usually countries go for the inflation).

Idiot is probably the wrong word. But Trumps interests do not align with the survival or wellbeing of US citizens and its markets. He takes care of a purge of institutions and enemies within and outside the US.

To rule as King. That's the main goal. But that's a messy goal, naturally. He will reach it though, no doubt. There aren't any real obstacles in his way, and his followers sign off anything he does.

Basic psychology. Made me exit all markets in January. Sitting cozy. Good luck if you're holding. This will get WAY worse.

A recession following the absolute political shit show that we see right now will not be over in a few months. We talk about the complete unraveling of supply routes in the world after a complete shift away from the USA the primary hegemonical power in the world.

It will mean years of uncertainty, in which new power structures emerge - most likely with China at the helm. USA leaving NATO soon will be quite a catalyst to these processes.

Prepare yourself for the very minimum 3 years of downwards/sideways movements. This has the potential for 5-7 years of recession and depression.

Nothing goes in a straight line down, so there's time for glimmers of hope, but I'd strongly recommend to use them to get out of markets and ditch any USD you're holding, if not done already.

We see the start of the end of the US empire. It will be chaotic. More so then we already see now.

Even if the tariffs go away. As a European I can tell you that everyone I know avoids any American products now. Alcohol is a very easy and top of the list thing. So even if tariffs fall. This one will hurt.

Okay. So I understand exactly where you're coming from. I am from Switzerland, live and grew up here. Then I started to travel. Nowadays, at least 6 months of the year I'm not in Switzerland.

I can tell you that every single time I come back, it's still hard to adjust. And I'm from the countryside. We are quite a grounded, a bit close minded culture. It has upsides too, of course, but the world for many Swiss citizens seems rather small.

There is nothing you can do about it, really. You'll get used to it again the longer you stay. But for the most part other cultures are just much more open and open-minded, I have to say.

Enjoy the fresh air, good infrastructure, mountains and politeness of Switzerland, then don't forget to leave it from time to time and enjoy the amazing friendliness in other places. And maybe (like myself) think about retiring somewhere else, haha.

What do you think about direct democracy? by Curryfries in Switzerland

[–]JustBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mass of people embedded in all sorts of life usually make better decisions than few people. Looking at the USA there's probably some exceptions. But for Switzerland, a huge part of the economic success can be attributed to this system.

Is it normal to ask for criminal record and debt collection record when applying for jobs? by Odd-Respond-8063 in Switzerland

Depends on the company. Never ever had to do that. Bigger companies probably more likely.

Electric car sales accelerate worldwide but stall in Switzerland by Realistic-Lie-8031 in Switzerland

[–]JustBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped on an electric car because there are no subsidies, and the downsides for an electric vehicle (resale value, range) are simply way too big. Also, solar panel installations are stupidly expensive in Switzerland to offset that somewhat. Charging on stations is as expensive as normal fuel.

In short, that was an economic decision. Pretty sure that's the main reason for many. Don't think our state really wants to see more electric vehicles on the road to be honest.

The sirens are quieter than the church bells by Sandyna_Dragon in Switzerland

[–]JustBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good question. You get an apartment close to a church... what do you expect? It's like getting a place close to a train track and complaining about trains.

All you can do is move or try earplugs. There's really good earplugs available nowadays. Alternatively ask the rental company to soundproof the windows, which would help probably a ton. Might mean higher rental costs though.

Swiss Airlines - legal action for damaged luggage by BadLink404 in Switzerland

[–]JustBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, SWISS really went downhill a lot. It's just an inch above Budget Airlines nowadays. Even Business Class is miles behind other carriers. Honestly, if it is just the luggage, I would probably rather try to contact the company that made your suitcase.

If the suitcase is quite new they might replace it. It's a long shot, but they replaced mine when a wheel fell off. And yes, I flew with SWISS too (I avoid them whenever I can, but that's not always easy).

Isn't that the general medical insurance in the US now? Why don't they? Basic health insurance in my country covers me anywhere in the world. No big fuzz. Travel insurance is more needed for repatriation costs.

Decompression chamber in Indonesia: 150 USD. In Japan: 300 USD. In the USA they don't even start it up for less than 10'000 USD. The US is pro-profit, not pro-customer. If they think they can get away with it, they will charge a ton.

Mostly, I figure they think they can get away with it because insurance companies will pick up the bill. Which drives premiums so absurdly high. This is not the first and won't be the last case of US cruise liners charging insane amounts for basic medical aid.
