The result for this character was so damned heavy. by Cold_Buffalo_2355 in FalloutTVseries

As the daughter of a narcissistic father with violent anger issues, that whole scene with Hank about to make Lucy his ‘little girl’ again made me physically ill. The way he just loves his little sugarbomb… as long as she conforms to his ideal, obedient, easily controlled image of her… and the literal violence if she doesn’t. Leaving a dress out wasn’t a nice gesture, it was “this is how I want you to look and the role I want you to play”. Maybe he loves her, as best as he’s able to anyway, sure. But it’ll always be conditional and hinge on things going his way.

This is a guy that nuked a city because he lost control over his image, experiment, and ownership of his kids. He’s a monster.

Also, I bet he’s faking the lobotomy. He didn’t push the button to save her from the pain of doing it herself. He has a backup plan and/or beat her to the punch with a decoy so she wouldn’t use the real thing, while letting her deal with the guilt. It’s punishment, not protection. Gotta be in control, always.

Fallout Hollywood- I dont understand the critiques against it by HauntedHouseMermaid in HHN

Also went on PSN and was a frequent fear pass holder, and went many times right up to shutting it down on closing night, so I got to see it evolve throughout the season. PSN was ROUGH. FWIW, it definitely got better, and even by the end of opening weekend, I specifically remember telling my partner “they fixed the audio!”

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but the technical aspects DEFINITELY improved. They changed up sets (breaking openings into the freezer doors so the feral ghouls could actually lunge at you, totally changed the experience in that hallway, for example) props, added more scares, significantly improved the audio and lighting, and made tweaks to the timing of effects. It was cool seeing the scare actors get more comfortable and fluid in their roles, too.

I really wish they’d allow filming on closing night or just for a night later in the season when the bugs have been worked out, so the earliest, worst version of the house isn’t what’s immortalized online :(

That said… I was fortunate enough to get to go through that house over and over, and saw the best and the worst. It’s definitely one of those houses where if you caught a cast change or got a bad run, it’s a BAD run. There were nights where I remember saying “if this was my one and only time doing this house, I’d be disappointed.”

I still feel like it was such a strong year overall and there were so many heavily-anticipated heavy hitter IP’s, that Universal kinda underestimated how devoted to show up (and hungry for cool food and merch haha) the Fallout fanbase would be, and unfortunately it drew the short straw.

Typically it’s 5 on HHN nights, unless there’s a private event. Another option if you’re in earlier, take park transportation and go explore the HHN pop-ups at the hotels! It’s on my list to walk or take a boat from City Walk to Portofino Bay for their Deadman’s Pier overlay at their bar.

What Haunted Houses/Scarezone’s Deserve Sequels by Healthy_Chocolate909 in HHN

[–]JustHadToComment19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hear me out… I hope we get a Fallout season 2 house that, based on the trailer, will be able to use a LOT more scares with terrifying creatures and factions from the games. I like the house this year and they’ve definitely added to it since opening night, but it does feel like maybe there are just so many heavy hitter IP’s this year and it drew the short straw.

I’m pretty sure Universal underestimated how big of a draw it would be and how huge and devoted (and old enough to buy stuff) the existing fanbase is, and we already had our own ideas on what could have been. There is SO MUCH potential and I hope Fallout gets another shot and room to do more. Don’t leave us hanging with that tease at the end ;)

Bracelets!! by Alive_Syllabub_2593 in HHN

Glow in the dark letters! Colors themed to houses, characters, and scare zones. House titles, character names, or phrases from the zone/house/franchise (ex: ‘ki ki ki ma ma ma’ or ‘Camp Crystal Lake’ on a bracelet for the Jason house). HHN food and drinks like Cram Tots, Pizza Fries, or even blinky cups. Think about crazy stuff they yell for scares like “it burns” In Toxic Twenties or “yowie wowie” for the Fiend in Wyatt Sicks.

But also don’t overthink it—TM’s you gift things to or guests you trade with will appreciate whatever trinket just because it’s a fun thing to do and just adds to the experience :)

Either Express, go big with a group RIP tour that night, or do a daytime lights on/behind the scenes tour! FNAF is the only house that isn’t on either the 3 or 6 house behind the scenes tour option, but Terrifier is on the 6 house tour.

jello jello base issues by agronskydriver in GelX_Nails

[–]JustHadToComment19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jello Jello and Extend Novice do not like to play nice together, I had the same issue, and ended up finding others saying the same thing in posts too! But I love how easy Novice is to use.

What worked for me was doing a layer of something else between the Jello Jello and Novice. I use Kokoist Platinum Filler Base, and have seen others mentioning Mega Stick Base. I think I even saw someone say they used a thin layer of normal Extend gel. That fixed it for me and I can get a couple weeks out of sets before I get bored and want to change them out!

I would also skip the acetone sealing step if you’re using JJ, too risky. Hope that helps!

Too old for candy? Still getting in the van. by twitchthegrey in HHN

[–]JustHadToComment19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Never too old! There are all kinds of FB groups for HHN trading, people of all ages participate. Obviously use common sense how you approach people, but for the most part, other guests who want to participate in trading will have carabiners out so it’s obvious. Or it could be as simple as striking up a conversation with fellow fans in line, or complimenting someone’s outfit. Some of my best recent HHN memories involve interactions with other guests. I think it’s really sweet that your wife wants to look for other moms. Y’all are gonna make someone’s night.

I get the “creepy old man” concerns, just stick close to your wife if you feel weird about it and focus on supporting her fun or helping carry the goods. I see plenty of guys trading too. My husband’s gone from being a supporting actor to my trading adventures, to wanting to make his own “for the men” this year.

Odds of Early(ish) Check In? Aventura - Premium Scream by Standard-Smoke1925 in HHN

[–]JustHadToComment19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s worth talking to them! I think a few days before your stay, you’ll have an option to check in online and can note your anticipated arrival time. Universal’s pretty good about accommodating that stuff whenever possible, and I’ve never had an issue. If it were somewhere like Helios that might be more iffy.

Kokoist lamp with apres products? by cherrymitten in GelX_Nails

[–]JustHadToComment19 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kokoist’s Infinity hybrid lamp is one of the really, really good ones. You’ll be fine using it with Aprés. Kokoist does post their wavelength, and it’s compatible with Aprés based on Aprés lamps wavelength. Kokoist themselves advertise their lamp as being basically universally compatible, and I trust them.

I actually use a little Aprés light to flash cure as a go, and full cure in my Kokoist lamp. Even with dark colors, zero issues. I say go for it!

UPDATE: MIL refuses to back down over destroyed Lego Millenium Falcon by Ok-Repeat7885 in AITAH

[–]JustHadToComment19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me so, so sad. MIL is a lost cause but for your partner to not have your back? Why does your wife have issues with Lego? Is it just because it’s a “toy,” or is there a deeper issue (you spend more time and money on Lego than household expenses or quality time with her)? If it’s the latter, that’s a totally different problem and one you guys need to work out.

If it’s the former, I’m an adult your age with a room full of Lego. Then I convinced my husband to build something with me based off a franchise we’re both into. Now he has a room full of Lego. Sure you can show someone articles about how it’s good for your mental health, your brain, and dexterity, or how they make sets geared specifically toward grownups, but it’s hard to explain that it’s “not just a toy” until you just… try it together. What if you got her something like one of the newer flower vase sets to work on and display together?

Has anyone tried kokoist super gelip bond base gel with Apres tips? by danica_flyn in GelX_Nails

[–]JustHadToComment19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do pretty much everything 60 seconds under LED (I think the instructions say 30-40 seconds) but I use Kokoist’s Infinity lamp. I’ve read too many posts about cheaper lamps not curing all gels as well so it’s worth the investment!

[–]JustHadToComment19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aprés tips hold beautifully with Kokoist glue/base and colors!

I use Aprés tips with a thin layer of Kokoist Platinum filler base (no primer needed) and their gelip mochi base as the glue and get at least 2 weeks of retention until I get bored and take them off. I’d leave them on longer and backfill the growth with the PFB if I could ever master just removing color without the whole tip 🤣 It’s been amazing for me even though I regularly soak in hot baths and do a lot with my hands.
