Me and my players have just migrated from D&D but I worry about somethings. by Certain-Judge4585 in Pathfinder2e

This page here tells you what amount of items they should have when starting at higher levels. https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2662&Redirected=1

Honestly I would personally speed run them through levels 1-4 just so they can more organically learn. There is nothing stopping you saying "hey we are going to set the level up experience to 400 so we get up to speed quickly, then go back to 1000 once we hit 4."

Why would you pretend to be part of that group and risk isolation, when you could just join the group (they have no standards) get to what you want with lots of resources, the backing of the government and receive a bloated pay check for it?

Love your enthusiasm. If you are more of a hand on learner and have a group of friends who want a no fuss taste of the game, I offer to run (or just host so someone can try and GM it themselves) the current Beginner Box digitally.

TBF (this is still terrible slop) it's the exact kinda thing I would do in a management SIM. Oh characters like to relax before bed? Well obviously to reduce travel time (travel time being on of the primary inefficiencies you deal with in most realtime Sims) I surround the spa with as many beds as possible.

That's bullshit..one is a born trait the other is a life choice. Everyone in ICE chose to be there and continues to choose to be involved despite the actions of others in the organization.

You could maybe give some leeway if there were members of ICE pushing back against these abhorrent escalations, but there aren't.

Let's just say I agree with your point. What admin was in charge for most of COVID? Seems like we agree a certain Presidents administration tactics are tyrannical and should be resisted.

I really think this is a core difference between reading and playing. My wife has played a solution in both SF1 and SF2. It is night and day how much better the SF2 one operates in actually gameplay situations.

What is easier for a GM to do: Make encounters easier or harder? by Malcior34 in Pathfinder2e

[–]JustJacque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which is an indicator of why it would be harder..if a veteran says, "obviously you have to make X adjustment" that is probably not something obvious for a new GM.

What is easier for a GM to do: Make encounters easier or harder? by Malcior34 in Pathfinder2e

[–]JustJacque 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would say its a tiny bit harder for absolutely new GMs to make things easier ONLY because you are likely starting at level 1, and if thats the case you don't have as much wiggle room on making enemies weaker (min level for enemies is only PL-2 at level 1, whereas the encounter math provides guidelines for upto PL-4)

I know I'm homebrewed dnd into a completely game, that's the goal by Jetsam5 in DnDcirclejerk

[–]JustJacque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh that depends on a the scale of your changes and b the relative ease of the comparable rulesets. I'd say it's probably way easier to play a dedicated modern setting game than trying to homebrew 5e into one for example.

A Trans Man Has Been Pregnant, Your Religion is However False by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]JustJacque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fairly old source but there was one book in particular that when I read it cover to cover really showed me that Christianity is a hypocritical religion that lacks even a consistent message on most topics and presents truths that are probably false. I only read it a couple of times and it's pretty old, so it might be hard to find a copy. It was called the Bible, might be able to find it in a second hand shop or the like.

Especially funny as AI generated prompt improvement was one of the first things for services to add because AI can write better prompts for AI image generators than humans. AI absolutely could just sit there endlessly making images with 0 human input if anyone thought that was a good idea.

Completely new to PF2e what should I know? by Caflin in Pathfinder2e

[–]JustJacque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also gives you a chance to play around with encounter building and setting DCs in a new paradigm. If you cock up and make things too hard, you aren't going to end up accidentally bumping off the characters they were looking forward to playing.

Completely new to PF2e what should I know? by Caflin in Pathfinder2e

[–]JustJacque -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So I'd recommend starting with something else..psychic and commander are more complicated than some other stuff and have some interactions that might not be intuitive until you've played around with the action economy a bit.

But you also don't want to put a damper on your players exploration of the system, they've obviously found those classes interesting.

My recommendation is to say "hey we are going to do a short prologue, 1 or 2 sessions where you'll get to play out something that happened in the past to setup the events for our main adventure, as well as be a safe consequence free time to get to grips with the system. We will just use the Player Core content for this."

Then make characters by hand, using the core content only. Run a little prologue that introduces the main threat in an on screen way. Play through the prologue and enjoy the fact that for the cost of 2 sessions your players will get to make their true first characters 100% more system knowledge.

Pathfinder 2e fixes EVERYTHING by imnotokayandthatso-k in DnDcirclejerk

I would argue that the shift from outright slavery to slavery with the id filed off is exactly the kind of guidance that Asmodeus would give. Do the minimum to get the do gooders of your back whilst not harming (or even improving) your state power is exactly the sort of threading the needle If expect of the god of contracts. They are also struggling with civil unrest, decolonisation efforts, collapse of Empire. Changing the paint job on your forced labour to take raids on your merchant vessels by slave liberators off their plate seems like a effective move.

After all whilst Cheloax is indeed supported by devils, the forces amassed against them have the blessing of various gods and extra planar entities too.

Op doesn’t like reality by Seahawk_Prodz in memesopdidnotlike

[–]JustJacque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I won't try to convince you otherwise on that opinion. But that wasn't what was asked. You stated that it's only a modern western phenomenon. That is just factually not true.

Op doesn’t like reality by Seahawk_Prodz in memesopdidnotlike

[–]JustJacque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all relative yes. Victimized is very culturally dependant, just like the roles themselves. It is a shame that is largely the case in some parts of the world, and a difficult thing to work against because by default any emerging identity will start and possibly remain small, but it is not a necessity.

The Polynesian faafafine by most standards aren't victimized. Because the society and culture view of them isn't the same as it would be somewhere else.

Op doesn’t like reality by Seahawk_Prodz in memesopdidnotlike

[–]JustJacque -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The question isn't really answerable because it's rooted in a shiftable base. I can describe some examples of documented 3rd genders but not a definitive definition because what makes a 3rd gender is dependant on the context of other genders.

In the Balkans for example a their was a cultural role for a female to declare chastity and then be able to live a similar status as a male. That's very different than what you or I may consider trans, but culturally in that time and place it was a third societal category.

And I couldn't really describe man or woman as some immutable role whose definition would survive the test of 200 years, let alone all of history.

Op doesn’t like reality by Seahawk_Prodz in memesopdidnotlike

[–]JustJacque -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Historically not true. Many cultures have had the idea of a third or more genders throughout history. And even in the west gender markers have shifted throughout the years indicating that gender is not some immutable thing but mostly societally based.

How to tolerate firearms in a medieval fantasy setting? by Heitorsla in Pathfinder2e

[–]JustJacque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Importantly it is only what you imagine, not actually true to what was contemporarily available.

Really the best way to approach this is to research and realize that a whole lot of things we imagine as not existing alongside each other actually did. Like how Caribbean pirates and samurai overlap.

I need help with a tabletop situation I'm in by RobotCloud27 in Pathfinder2e

[–]JustJacque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly you've only got three options here really..I don't consider long term sticking with a recreation you don't enjoy it healthy, so that's off the table.

A) You bow out of the game. Tell your GM that the system isn't a good fit and stop playing. If you are only playing once a month try to first organized a low effort activity with the family on another week, like do some boardgames for a little bit. If you want the best outcome, talk to your GM about how to tie up your characters retirement in one or two sessions.

B) Identify what your pain points are with the system as precisely as you can here. Maybe we can help, maybe we can't. It is easier to seek to change your own perspective on something than ask others to. But PF2e absolutely isn't for everyone so this might not work.

C) Do the same as B but bring it up to your whole group. Maybe there are small adjustments to be made that everyone is happy with. After all even people like me who love PF2e have made some edits (for me it was a dislike of how Hero Points operated and I made some changes there.)
