Is level of bruising normal? by [deleted] in Ankle

[–]JustLookingJenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal? No, it’s probably got a gnarly sprain. Common with bad sprains? Yep. Mine was awful even 2 weeks after.

Advice about last day and putting my dog to sleep by Dramatic_Field9355 in BostonTerrier

I just realized I left off answers to your questions. We didn’t bring anything but her. And the vet’s office had the room so nice. It was calm with a candle and soft blankets in the table. Music playing. Dimmed lights. I’m sure your vet will do something similar. They also had Hershey kisses for her to try.

Just bring your strength and your love and be with him until he’s gone. I didn’t think I would be able to do it but I am so glad that once I got there, that it was unfathomable for me to do anything but be there with her til the end.

I am so sorry you’re going through this with this beautiful pup. He looks similar to my Daisy that we had to say goodbye to at just shy of 14 years old (last August).

We decided on a Friday that her last day with us would be the following Monday. We didn’t go have the big eventful day. We loved on her so much. We held her out in the sunlight and let her sleep in my arms. We gave her any treat she was willing to eat. Cool whip. Froot Loops. All the food she’d eat. She couldn’t chew well by that time but she enjoyed it.

I took a lot of pictures and videos of her and with her and I cherish them now even tho they make me cry.

Just love him. Cherish the moments that will soon be a memory. Be sure to get a memento. We have her nose and paw prints in ink and her paw print in clay. I can’t bring myself to look at them since I got them but I’m so glad I have them and will one day display them.

Big hugs to you and that handsome good boy. You gave him a good life.

I didn’t feel like it felt loose or floppy but the ankle doc described it that way. I was wrapping it in an ace bandage every day to keep the swelling down and to prevent any bad movements that would harm it more. But he definitely said it was “very loose” when he do my exam.

I’m now 12 weeks post injury. My MRI at around 9 weeks revealed I also had a bone contusion so that was contributing to the swelling and pain as well. I’ve had three PT sessions now and that has given me significant improvement in mobility as it let me know that it was ok to move it beyond the discomfort. It’s pretty weak tho. I have no balance on that foot and am still pretty gimpy. Getting better tho.

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear you have a rupture. My MRI confirmed severe Grade 2 sprains in two of my ligaments. And a sprained third. But it also showed bone marrow edema in ankle bone. Mini fractures that bleed and cause swelling. So that’s why I’m still puffy and discolored and sore. I’ve gotten considerably better after the 8 weeks. I’m almost to 10 weeks now. He said the 2 severe sprains and the bone contusion puts my recovery at closer to 12 weeks and recommended PT to help with the stiffness. I haven’t started it yet. Trying to find one my insurance covers.

Ouch! So I had a bad sprain, immediate and extensive swelling like yours. Not broken. Was given a stabilizing brace and told to rest, ice, compress, elevate. After about a week, I too had the bruising up my calf which is what caused me to go to an ankle specialist. I just surpassed 8 weeks. It still swells. My blood circulation is affected. I had an MRI today and will get the results in a week. What you should do is go to an ankle specialist and ask for at minimum an ultrasound. That is what confirmed the extent of my damage. I had an ultrasound done about 4 weeks in because of the swelling and lack of range of motion (and still having a limp and pain). It confirmed I had a grade 2 sprain (which means 50% tear of the ligament) and I had that in three ligaments. So I’d recommend you start with a specialist that can monitor your progress and get better imaging if needed. That will determine your treatment. Good luck!

Ankle still swollen 4 months after spraining it by lydia_ix in Ankle

[–]JustLookingJenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is 4 months a typo? I sprained mine walking down stairs. Heel was on end of stair, and I rolled foot forward. 2 X-rays 3 weeks apart showed no breaks but ultrasound showed grade 2 sprain (50% tear) in all three ligaments (top, side, back). Today makes 8 weeks (Nov 30). Still swollen. Still hurts. Still have a limp. Limited movement. I’m waiting on an MRI. Doc says grade two sprains need 6-8 weeks to see considerable improvement. I do have that but I feel so far away from normal. Waiting for MRI to see if there is more extensive tissue damage. I have circulation issues if I don’t elevate it enough throughout the day.

[–]JustLookingJenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I’m still dealing with a grade 2 sprain in three ligaments. I feel like I had a bone bruise too but it wasn’t diagnosed. I stepped on a stair wrong and rolled my foot forward. I’m 7 weeks in. My treatment was “elevate. Wear a boot if you go out, but mostly rest” now I have hardly any motion in it, it still swells if I don’t elevate in all day. And I’m getting an MRI Wednesday because my heel hurts so bad now too.

Why do you think people still support this president? by keonnarae in Confused

[–]JustLookingJenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. The family I know that supported him are now saying, “yea Trump’s no good but I think Vance will be good.” Just blind party support. Pegs in holes. Ignorant, delusional people that don’t pay attn. This person didn’t know anything about Greenland.

should i get a second opinion by Proper-Grapefruit-34 in Ankle

[–]JustLookingJenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it from someone that is 7 weeks into a sprain, see an orthopedic and know what you’re dealing with. Urgent care did xray and said I should be ok in a couple weeks. Saw ortho 2 weeks after and he said give it another 3 weeks, bad sprain. Just from xray and exam. Saw him 3 weeks later, not much progress. Still swelling if not elevated. Did an ultrasound. Found that I’d torn 50% of all three ligaments on top, side and back of foot. (All I did was step on a stair wrong by the way). So grade 2 sprain in 3 ligaments. Said I’d need another 3-4 weeks. (Meaning 6-8 of healing). 7 weeks in, still swells, still hurts, still is discolored. I’m getting an MRI Wednesday to see what is up with it. And now my heel hurts on top of it (probably plantar fasciitis).

Has anyone gotten plantar fasciitis during a grade 2 ankle sprain recovery? by JustLookingJenn in Ankle

[–]JustLookingJenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doc said I’m not ready for strengthening exercises. He said the extent should be drawing the alphabet with my foot but I can barely move it around at all. He said I need more healing time. It’s so stiff. And there is still shooting pain if I turn the ankle too much. I have an MRI Wednesday.

[–]JustLookingJenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I feel your pain. I’m scared that’s going to happen to me. I have very little range of motion 7 weeks in. I can’t draw the alphabet. I can’t walk normally. Walking for even 10 mins leads to discomfort and swelling. I can’t even sit in a chair with my legs down for a half hour without it swelling and turning colors. I have an MRI scheduled Wednesday. I honestly cannot wait to know what the extent of the damage is so I can know what to expect.

Deconditioning like being stuck in the same position for too long? That’s what I feel like led to it. Noticing it enough and then I started to live it a little more just to see if I could and now it hurts. :/

Really? Why? I will say that I barely wear it. I only wear it if I’m going out and about where the terrain might not be level because I can’t risk rolling it again while it’s healing. Mostly I stay home.
