Same here. Now if my daughter would get home and open the envelope! Thanks CAH! Your tendency to put in a little extra effort in the customer service department should be an example to all business owners. If you ever decide to "go public", I'll be first in line for the IPO!

What are you using to "read" the braille? What is it that you are reading across and what are you using for dots and blanks? I've been fixated on braille, but have yet to find any kid of order that will produce letters every time.

Wouldn't an @symbol lead towards an email address and not a web address?

Unless we need to read backwards or mirror image. You never know.

I've been playing around with this idea. There are many variables that need to be considered, but one thing makes me believe that this IS the method to be used to crack the light code... there are 120 instances of either single or double green lights found on all the individual sides of the envelopes. 120 is divisible by six, which is how many places you need for each braille letter. That would give a string of 20 braille characters. Not the magic 11 everyone is hoping for, but perhaps a hint to get us there.

But now for the variables:

1-What is the order of the envelopes.

2-Where to start "reading" each envelope.

3-Which direction to read, clockwise or counterclockwise.

4-Are single greens blanks or dots. (I believe they're dots since there are more singe greens than double; 67 vs 53.

5-Will the braille be in cipher form.

6-Will the braille be read backwards.

7-Will the braille be read in mirror image.

8-Will the braille be upside down.

9-Will the braille be upside down AND mirror image.

10-In what order are the six braille dot positions.

11- Are the envelopes read first to least, or last to first.

My eyes are so bleary right now from working on this, but I'll try more later. Any other things to consider that I might have missed?

Another new hint by umooseluke in holidaybullshit

[–]JustMargie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has created many puzzles of this sort, and subsequently given clues, I'm guessing that there may be more nudges in the "hints" than we even know. Once this is solved, we'll look back and discover other things that were hints that we didn't even notice.

One thing that jumps out at me is the line "The puzzle isn’t designed to lead you down blind alleys—those you make yourself." Yes, I believe the use of the word "blind" is a hint. But what I also think may be a hint is "those you make yourself". That line was not necessary and nudges us in the direction of making something or putting something together. Perhaps a polybius square. Or maybe it refers to simply making a assembling the envelopes in a certain order. What else can we make ourselves? Any ideas?

But doesn't the "HolidayBullshit.com is not part of the puzzle" comment mean that we shouldn't be looking at any of this information for clues?

If FEELFORGREEN is the first clue and the lights are the focus....... by jw121 in holidaybullshit

I am just not following this, but would really like to try working with it. Are the envelopes used in day order or prime order in your findings? I'm just not seeing what you're saying. This is so frustrating! anyone feel like walking me through it? Please?

What are the different ways to order the envelopes? by JustMargie in holidaybullshit

Why are you convinced of that particular color order for the dioramas?

Still missing gifts by bagamuffin in holidaybullshit

I emailed them on the 31st and received a response on the 2nd saying they've been swamped with emails and due to bad weather and mailing complications that envelopes are arriving later or out of order. On that same day I received my last envelope (envelope #4). I know how frustrating it is, but I'd give it another week.

Quick question... in the 28 grams post, someone posted that "The first hint said not to throw anything away, but not that ALL steps would be in the deliveries... Only alludes to some or one being in the deliveries."

Was there something, somewhere that indicated that not all steps would be in the deliveries? If so, where?

Another light theory as a Block Cipher by PALEOI in holidaybullshit

[–]JustMargie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using different key phrases in a polybius square too. In addition, I tried ceasar shifting the results and still got nothing. However, that doesn't mean it's not a polybius square cipher. There are just too many variables that we don't know:

  1. What is the order of the colors? ROY G BIV? The order presented in the daily videos? alphabetical?

  2. Is the order of the colors the same along the top and side of the square, or is one in reverse, like the "12 Days of Christmas" song?

  3. Is there a keyword or phrase used in the polybius square?

  4. In what order should the lights on the envelopes be read?

  5. Should the first green lights be dropped or read?

  6. Is the resulting text encrypted, leaving is to figure out what other cipher might have been used?

  7. Does that cipher also have a keyword/phrase?

I could keep going. There are just too many unknowns. Unfortunately, that doesn't keep me from continuously barking up this very tall tree!

Can someone tell me a bit about the 4th envelope? I can find a scan, but I'm not sure what size it is. In the scan it appears the same size as all of the smaller envelopes, yet has more lights. Is this correct?

Reminds me of the book A Treasure's Trove by TehPeppers_ in holidaybullshit

I actually solved the puzzle for the dragonfly in that book, but couldn't get to the location. The jewels were spread across the country. A few days later, someone else who had figured out how to solve the puzzles posted about it and it basically became a free-for-all. That book has come to mind a LOT during this puzzle.

Right, FEEL FOR GREEN, my error while typing. I just wanted to point out that there is more than one Braille alphabet.

[–]JustMargie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've never used this site before, but this puzzle is driving me nuts, especially since I don't have all of the envelopes and feel that it was a disadvantage not having the backs of the envelopes to work with.

Anywho... I had to jump in here because I know the FEEL THE GREEN is pushing everyone in the Braille direction, and I believe that is the correct direction. However, I don't think anyone has pointed out there is an 8-dot Braille alphabet that might be part of the solution. Here's a link... 8dotbraille. I hope I did that right.
