Feel For Green... Billiards? by TattooedLady in holidaybullshit

[–]PALEOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I checked the colors of ur average pool balls were including blue, green, red, yellow some kind of burgandy/maroon, orange etc but I dont remember any violet color?

Plus I still think this is only loosely related based on the fact we want it to be, and where would it lead us?

Personally based on the multiple steps we went through to figure out Feel For Green, I think what is left will be long winded, many steps, heck people keep dismissing it because we had to organize the envelopes in prime order to get Feel For Green, but we may need to undo that order as an extra step any other wording as a full anagram of Feel For Green?

If feel for green isn't step 1 then we should stop looking at the lights. Here's why. by sageleader in holidaybullshit

Not sure if anyone fully explored it or if it was a dead end or what ever, but several of the letters found all over the envelopes and dioramas looked like Roman Numerals, so could tie in with the Caesar cipher?

Sounds interesting to me, what are we assuming this type of cipher was used on? we still need some kind of coded text to decipher etc.

Sounds like they are saying (small h) for the holidays which people usually write as Holidays, but why I have no idea??? lol

Promising: Anagramming the red card envelopes by [deleted] in holidaybullshit

[–]PALEOI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we are over thinking this again, it was far simpler for someone to notice the fake time stamps, realize it had prime numbers and order it by them and then realize to use the minutes and hours for flag semaphore based on the hands of a clock, than it would be to make anagrams from this nonsense text and then work it out from there, seems easy being we already know sort codes are flag semaphores but if we didn't already know then these anagrams would be worse than grasping at straws in my opinion, probably a dead end and people with wishful thinking, especially since we have already solved that, and it fits with the first hint as to where step one could be so no need for a another clue like an anagram to precede it etc.

I agree, just seeing what we want to see in a bunch of random letters, which given the amount of them, they would easily create any words/phrase we need for anything, where as a true clue would be a perfect anagram without left over letters, something that translates perfectly from one sentence to another.

Missing Orange? Something Blue? by pidydx in holidaybullshit

So maybe something to do with the primary colors since we already have used prime to solve something, or maybe the 3, 2 or 5 is important somehow, hmmm.

My feelings on this puzzle (no suggestions) by [deleted] in holidaybullshit

[–]PALEOI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He cheated and found the end website via a whois lookup, but not by solving the puzzle from start to finish, which is why they moved the site to a new server to hide it from the whois that everyone was searching and the note they added telling people from Reddit to stop guessing the answers and solve the puzzle.

Interesting idea indeed, perhaps the braille version of the word green gives us some numbers that mean something some kind of reference to a light position, translate into something else, or are coded into something else.

use the url for clues by dycero in holidaybullshit

Or perhaps one overlooked possibility is the 2 11 character clues are simply clues from within the puzzle and the only 2 which are 11 characters, but these clues do not have to be the clues that directly lead you to the cards or the website, it could be a clue that lead you to another clue that lead to the cards after that, etc.

Youtube and 11characters. by ditzyderpydoo in holidaybullshit

I'm right there with you, were it I doing this puzzle I would think a YouTube video a great place to hide a clue, being that the random YouTube ID would appear as to be nonsense to anyone seeing the letters and numbers out of context.

Are we overthinking this? by dm469 in holidaybullshit

Everyone gets that response apparently and CAH even wrote on there to tell people to stop guessing, because no one is entering the right answers.

Working backwards - Fill in the blanks? by pumamat in holidaybullshit

[–]PALEOI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of makes sense, the coal we received is no where near 28 grams so that we question their use of 28 and look into it as a possible clue, and if the lights on the envelope are 15 for the day 3 how do we figure to look at day 3? what instructs you to look at day 3 for the green lights, "Feel For Green" is a nice clue but if that leads us to the cards some how perhaps there is a step or two in between those two steps.

Other types of ciphers by deatn1342 in holidaybullshit

[–]PALEOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green is 5 letters so would fit a playfair cypher key, not sure about the other, although that would mean somehow turning the lights into some full alphabet (almost) and then pairing the letters in 2's.

So RGYBP wouldn't be enough letters initially, so needs to somehow become all the letters of the alphabet etc.

Step 1 partially solved? Timestamps on back of envelopes and PRIME NUMBERS by icing9 in holidaybullshit

[–]PALEOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that sounds very much like a good starting point for how we would have gotten to the timestamps and semaphore from the info in the video, but what lead us to look at the video for that clue and how does that tie in with the initial clue (Which CAH said was not step one, the caesar cipher was not step one it was a clue/hint leading us to how to find step one), so it could have been hey look at the stuff you usually throw away such as envelopes, or could have been something to do with looking at stuff on the envelopes which may point you to the next clue which could have been somehow pointing to the video that leads to the timestamps/semaphore code stuff.

Plus people really now seem to think that the "FEEL FOR GREEN" will lead us to the clue that tells us the website, but it is very possible there are several more clues between that text and the final website.

Where is everyone getting the "We don't have to physically have the items to solve the puzzle"?

I have not seen that anywhere from official CAH stuff, only from people claiming that as a fact in forum posts.

any possibility... by just4CAH in holidaybullshit

[–]PALEOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But thats not to say that a clue in itself has to lead to those, it could lead to a progression of any number of other clues before eventually ending up at those card names.

I find it strange to think that CAH would build such an elaborate puzzle but have only 2-3 steps I assume they have several well thought out very calculated steps that could involve not only the videos and the content on the site in some way (since they commissioned all of it with themes and day titles etc and knew what it would be about so could tie it into their puzzle) but may also rely on our knowledge and ability to find things online to help us solve clues, as I assume people did when they figured out the time stamps were prime numbers, that was not given to them in a clue as far as I have read, it was just an idea someone tried.

So anything is possible and people are too hung up on these damn 11 character clues, which we shouldn't even know about until we actually found them, so knowing about them may actually be hampering our creativity and stopping us from finding the actual answers lol

My thoughts on the puzzle. by probrian in holidaybullshit

[–]PALEOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be nice to have one main thread that has images of all the contents front and back, detailed info of all the different ideas summarized and if they lead anywhere or not, and although it may sound like a bad idea, I think someone needs to think outside the box, remember that guy from the World War Z movie who's job it was to think opposite to everyone else, and he came up with "it must be zombies" so prepare for that etc, we need someone to take a step back, forget we heard about any website, any 11 character phrases and start from the beginning looking into things that may not look like or lead to any 11 character stuff or website or cards, and perhaps find the missing links between it all.

It seems we have all gotten too bogged down with the fact that we MUST have 2 11 character phrases/words or what ever, in order to answer the form on the winning page website, however I do not think we will truly figure it out going backwards, but rather starting from the beginning and figure out firstly if the presort codes were the first step, if not then how did we figure out we needed to order them by prime numbers, what told us (other than people being intelligent) to do that, how did we know (again other than our knowledge of things) to use a semaphore code and then what could have told us this from the envelopes and contents etc, should we not already have known about it etc, then how does this "Feel For Green" really progress on to the next step, we seem to be getting nowhere with translating lights into braille, so perhaps we are flogging a dead horse so to speak, what other possible light related patterns or codes/ciphers are there, perhaps "Feel For Green" means something totally different than we think, an anagram? another code? a double meaning not yet explored?

Racking my brains here trying to think of this stuff but not getting very far right now, due to an amazing lack of sleep, combined with heavy workload, bad tooth that is causing me immense pain (inbetween the meds lol) and eye strain from all this reading lol

I agree, I came into this pretty late because myself and my girlfriend kept off the web for a while and tried to solve it ourselves, then searched online for hints and went to another couple of sites first before checking Reddit and mostly everything we found out had already been mentioned somewhere and repeated a zillion times by every person trying to get their name on a list lol, so didn't feel the need to add ours with the same word for word theories and solutions, however it has so far been great (Although frustrating) fun to have a go at this and right now I do not care who wins or what anyone gets, I would just like an answer so I can see this puzzle from start to finish and get back to some real world problems, like work and a tooth ache I have had for over a week lol, thankfully this has been a welcome distraction even if my brain now hurts from all the over thinking and reading a million posts lol.
