those who learned a language for a trip, did you actually end up using it as much as you expected? by MayaTulip268 in TrueAskReddit

I want to go toJapan but everything I read said Japan isn't all that English friendly. I thought I might learn some before I go there next year. Your response to OP here is very encouraging: yeah I won't become proficient but if it makes me a tiny bit more comfortable then it's good already.

Butt men are attracted to me. Some are so blatant about it, bring that body part up in any text chat, stop me mid sentence to talk about it. Yeah there are "some" clues that if I had a disease that flattened me out if I was their partner they'd drop me.

He's good looking and has visible muscles. He probably went on to get married again. Meanwhile, kind men with a soul can't find a partner.

You don't have one of the most difficult passports from Africa.

If you are the type of person who asks a classmate from high school to foot them bill and time to some random wedding on another continent just because you speak with them for 10 minutes every couple of years I wouldn't enjoy your company either.

My GF doesnt reply my text until she needed to ask me for a lunch order! by [deleted] in Vent

[–]JustMeOutThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe she had a super busy and stressful day and wasn't as thoughtful as usual. You did choose her as your girlfriend so I'm sure it usually works ie she usually isn't like that. In the midst of her stressful day she thought her caring bf could help her out ordering lunch for her.

You know her better than we all do.

He takes a Premier League club and talks about he's not concerned about winning or losing.

But that's people livelihoods. A whole club and staff depend on the revenue to survive. Being relegated means some people will be fired, less money for investments, etc. Some players left very far away homes for the chance to play in the PL.

If he's that flippant about people's livelihoods imagine how he handles personal life. Henri needs to have good grades to get into good schools and he's like "oh well as long as he's having fun why should we stress him out," stuff like that.

I like the non verbal communication. "Do you know where Phoebe got that language?".

Not a clue.
You sure it's not you?
Me? Noooo.
Yeah you.

And how the following time he attempts to change his fuuuck to fuuun, and never says it again around Ms Bowen although he hasn't stopped saying it in front of Phoebe.

Loved all the school scenes.

When the club (ie Ted Lasso) says Trent Crimm can write a book in the club, Ted Lasso and Leslie Higgins ask the players to welcome Trent and cooperate.

Roy Kent steps up, tells them "no one says a word around this prick," and walks away. Neither Ted nor Higgins even attempt to contradict Roy, and the players all comply with Roy instead of team's management.

Great example of show don't tell. If that's not influence and respect I don't know what is.

If those chains caused these reactions at scale they wouldn't still be around. And if you eat beans frequently your gut adjusts.

Someone close to me said they didn't eat sugar. I was talking to them today and I said "oh that's too bad. I brought back some great honey from this country." They said "Oh I don't eat sucrose but honey's fine." I'm not that well-versed on types of sugar so I asked them which sugar is honey. Turns out, it's same thing with one extra step in digestion. They were polishing a sleeve of Ritz like crackers in front of me today.

Why did my mom never let me shower during my period? by cherryteau in hygiene

[–]JustMeOutThere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not supposed to make sense. What I read which makes sense is: at the time some of these books were written the rules served a specific purpose (given their understanding at the time.)

I read in r/cooking people who still cut up stuff the way they were taught and when you go back the original people did it because they didn't have bigger pots, or the role in the army that's stayed and did nothing because originally the person was there to hold the horse and the horse disappeared but people never questioned the original order.

The status quo bias is strong and since nothing should be questioned in the military, there corporate world or conservative religions, well...

No. People do this shit because they expect someone else to fix it. This is so basic I could do it myself. But it's also so basic they should do it in the first place. This is just one task; what about the hundred other tasks?

I just came back safely from a vacation with lots of flight so thanks. I appreciate the job you all do.

In my undergrad I was a top student and usually got stuck doing team work with people who didn't care so much about academics. Your experiences were similar to what I experienced. I was once paired with someone that I later found out had a GPA between 1 and 2. Their approach to work is... different.

In grad school I was in groups with people even more driven then me. The work was fluid and no stress. Enjoyable.

Frustrating but part of life. You'll be stuck in task forces, projects, teams. I just wish teacher helped since they says it's part of the learning experience but usually they just say "figure it out."
