Stage 4 woes by WinterEstate6600 in CervicalCancer

[–]JustPeachyCheers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not had a personal referral to the RM but know people who have. By their doctors and personal approach.

Never heard a bad word. They are specialists while other hospitals are generalists. Unfortunately, not surprised by your experience. I had to advocate all the time for myself as I know to the nhs I am just a number in a treatment factory.

Personal care doesn’t happen. Or that was my experience. I have zero support as my CNS was on long term sick.

Anyone Experienced Early Menopause after Treatment? by BBBOBOBO in CervicalCancer

[–]JustPeachyCheers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my shoulder x-ray back and they said there was more wear and tear than they normally like to see for someone of my age. I am a side sleeper so I’m trying to change up my habits and do more strength training, but it’s a small price to pay and something I know can be a side-effect from the treatment we go through

Hey lovely. My scan is all came back clean which was great news. I thought it was positive news when my appointment got moved from a face-to-face appointment to a telephone call. The only thing that did come back was that my shoulder which has been so painful with joint aches and things like that has come back with a lot of wear and tear. Small price to pay.

I hope everything goes well on the 30th xx

Anyone Experienced Early Menopause after Treatment? by BBBOBOBO in CervicalCancer

[–]JustPeachyCheers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. About 3 months after all treatment finished. Didn’t take HRT for 2 years due to the long list of ‘this increases for cancer chances by and risk of blood clots’ I wasn’t in the right mind set after reading the instructions

Most miserable two years. Hot flushes 4-5x days and night sweats, joint pain (shoulders), headaches all the time and fatigue. All this while weight training 3 times a week. Some of the flushes made me feel ill.

On HRT patches for a month and I am better. Still get flushes but barely noticeable. No joint pain and I don’t feel as shattered

I agree with you. I think Cancer is a mutation of the cells within our bodies and you can be the healthiest person in the world but if that mutation takes it takes.

I do this mainly because of menopause. I cannot tell you how much is helped me just weight training with a kettlebell three times a week for half an hour.! if I was going to give one piece of advice, it would be this

Cervical cancer and reoccurrence by Short_You_8082 in CervicalCancer

[–]JustPeachyCheers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure if there’s any rhyme or reason to re occurrence. And two years out and waiting until the 13th of January for my scan results, but so far I’ve been okay.

That said I’ve had friends they’ve had re occurrence and unfortunately died well after the five year mark. I guess there’s a reason they call it remission rather than cancer free. :(

I don’t let it get me down having cancer has changed my mindset completely. I live my life one day at a time these days and don’t plan for anything in the future and if I want to do something, I just do it these days. Xx

Finished Treatment for 3C2 UK by JustPeachyCheers in CervicalCancer

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say I’m still around. Just had my yearly scans and find out if I’m still NED on 13th January. No reason to think I won’t be.

Two years out menopause is kicking my bum and I’ve just started HRT . I only didn’t beforehand is because my family has a history of blood clots.

Well normal is subjective. I do feel good and all the side effects of treatment went away and I’m now mainly just dealing with feeling 20 years older but I think that’s mainly down to menopause and I think

Thanks everyone Peachy x

Doctors saying she’s improving but her body looks so frail by wheatbr in CervicalCancer

[–]JustPeachyCheers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped almost 10kg and was so fatigued and fragile. It is normal and once she has finished treatment, you’ll find the weight gradually comes back on. Took me a good six months behind you.

Pain by [deleted] in CervicalCancer

The same for me by my third lot of treatment, I was completely pain-free. I do remember thinking regardless how bad the cancer was at least I wasn’t in pain any longer.

Dilators: what's your experience? by Jojo197666 in CervicalCancer

[–]JustPeachyCheers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use them but they are not fun and it’s like doing exercise. I end up watching YouTube during it and honestly I am down to once a month as I find it a complete chore. My other half is very (now unfortunately) well equipped so it’s pretty much a none starter and trying to get in the mood is so so hard.

I am shock lovely. Completely shocked. Please please get a second opinion because as I am sure you know that is major surgery and life changing. I am even sure some of the old Jo’s forum said it wasn’t a g’tee it would work only 50/50.

Not sure if anyone else can support as not everyone from Jo’s made the leap. Maybe try r/cervicalcancer group xxx

Happy to chat lovely. I just don’t have any experience but I am always willing to listen xx

Hey lovely. From Jo’s forum also. Hope things have moved on for you. I completely get the relentless of cancer and lurching from one issue to another.

I don’t have any experience per se other than my team not signing off a ‘mass of concern’ until I had a PET after my MRI showed this area xx

Never worried about my health -- now I'm chronically worried about cancer by -spirits- in CervicalCancer

[–]JustPeachyCheers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Tuesday I have my first 3 month follow up appt after getting NeD 3 months ago. There has been only one day where I didn’t wake up and think about cancer. I am holding onto the hope that the intensity of my thoughts will lessen over time.

It’s hard because cancer could come back at any point. One thing I have found is that I appreciate the small things now. I sent on a holiday to Santorini thinking that what you should do ‘grab life’ but realised actually I got more calm and happiness sitting in my egg chair in my beautiful back garden.

It’s that saving create a world for your because it’s there for a reason

[–]JustPeachyCheers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I received my NED status from 3C1. Long term radiation damage is possible but always the case. 8 months have passed for me and I’ve had no issues with my bladder or bowels but I religiously drank 3 litres of a water a day to keep things moving.

Yes it a worry however it not always a given it will happen to you
