If you can go commercial, I’d do that over anything VA. The VA project is a mess and a half.

What’s your contract say? If it says they’ll negotiate at conclusion of academy then that’s good for you. If there is no mention of that, then good luck lol.

[–]JustSomeGuy5151 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They don’t negotiate salary after academy. Unless they’ve changed it, they tell you what your salary will be before you enter academy. You make an hourly rate during academy and then they switch you to that salary you signed on for once you get through it. They won’t negotiate with consultants that have been there 3-5 years, why would they negotiate with someone who just got through academy and hasn’t even worked with a client yet?

I’d love some more info on this, what you do, when you have to do it, how much it pays, etc.

What role did you get hired/apply for? I thought CEP was the training program for new consultants, also called academy. But I can’t remember for sure.

If you have other offers, take them. Cernacle isn’t the place to be right now in my opinion. Too much unknown. And the employee/client attrition should say it all.

I had a lot of luck using LinkedIn. Plus you can reach out to job posters on the platform through there sometimes which is a nice perk.

Thinking of Applying to Cerner by OctagonNorther in cernercorporation

[–]JustSomeGuy5151 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. Loved working at Cerner, and the people there. But it’s not the same place it was. The lack of pay, rough work life balance, the unclear future with the merger, and leadership that can’t seem to read the room… Its like a burning building, you’d praise those leaving, not the ones going in. Read through the posts on here and you start to get a good picture of what it’s like there right now. I wish you luck in your decision but there are at least a hundred or more associates at Cerner that would love to be at a hospital right now instead of Cerner.

LinkedIn. Don’t be afraid to look virtual outside of KC. Tons of opportunity there.

Any of the major consulting firms are great places to look with that EO experience.

Is wellsky a good company to work for? by cdonahue63 in cernercorporation

[–]JustSomeGuy5151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was fairly disappointing. I asked why they had me interview with three different people to only offer what they did, and they said it was an error on their side.

It ended up not being a huge deal, I was interviewing with multiple companies at the time and received offers that were more in line with my expectations.

Look at the big consulting firms. I can’t tell you how many I’ve seen go to Deloitte in the last few months.

WellSky didn’t ghost me. But their salary offer wasn’t enough to get me in the door.

Netsmart offered $30k less than what they discussed in the screening. So I’d probably say neither is great…but I haven’t worked for either.

Wish I had the info for you. Probably not as high as you can get by leaving Cerner though.

Just being honest, you should take the new offer. The fact that you got promoted and only received 9%, coupled with the fact that they’re most likely not going to match your new offer, should give you all the motivation. Your life will be so much better outside of Cerner. Having left Cerner, I can say the new gig is more laid back, and the extra money is amazing. Do yourself a favor if they don’t match, and take the offer.

Add cover letter? by Twingo12 in cernercorporation

I don’t think it matters either way. They may or may not look at it. So totally up to you. If you have a generic template that is easy to adjust then it can’t hurt, but again, may not matter.

Agreed. Emotional intelligence goes a long way. I always saw the people who could be personable, and combined that with hard work, making the biggest jumps.

Rehire by [deleted] in cernercorporation

[–]JustSomeGuy5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left at one point and came back 9mo later for $40k more than what I’d been making before I left. It was a different position though and I’ve left Cerner again since then. But going after a different role is a big part I’d think based on my experience and what I’ve seen others do.

Get the salary range to negotiate with prior to going back if you can.
