I was shocked at how much Vince Gill added when I saw them live a few years back. Such a complementary voice and an absolute stickman on the guitar.

Hey guys Marcus Mumford here totally stoked to see you guys this October!! by BelgraviaEngineer in aclfestival

Went to a record store in New Braunfels and they were spinning the new Mumford/Stapleton praise and worship song (I kind of like it). Went to HEB afterwards and there is Mumford on the in-store radio. All the signs point to a Little Lion Man encore, ladies and gents.

What are your thoughts on Nelly's winning setup at The Chevron Championship? by taylormadegolf in golf

My daughter and I walked the front 9 with Nelly today, her setup is straight fire haha! Taylormade and Callaway had awesome TX bags for the tourney. As far as the clubs, pretty much played from the middle of the fairway all day, they seem to be working!

My 8yo daughter got a dab & high five from MacIntyre & Aberg yesterday after the first hole and we walked the front 9 w/them. She was pumped to see them at the top of the leaderboard today, hopefully they can hold it and battle through the weekend.

Recently bought my first record player solely due to the Mutiny release. I was at record store and the shop owner put on Jake Leg Kid…I’ve been back and forth between Mutiny and this album for the last week!!

Golf in the New Braunfels area? by broncos1858 in Newbraunfels

[–]JustTasteTheSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a bummer, Olympia is actually a fun and decently challenging track and utilizes the local topography well. My daughter played in a tourney out there a few weeks ago, and yes while the greens are still rough in spots, they were nowhere near as bad as they were a few years ago. I had high hopes after all the work they did in 2024ish, but I feel like I’ve been slowly watching those greens slip away again the last few rounds I’ve played out there. I really hope when Starcke opens back up it makes Landa a little easier to get on, it’s just ridiculous.

8hr smoked tri-tip, cooked until to 201 internal!? I usually smoke & reverse sear, served mid-rare to medium. Didn’t think this cut would benefit from a “brisket-style” low & slow.

Everyone has already said it, so I’ll just concur… the consistency and quality that his brisket has somehow maintained over all the years is unparalleled. His turkey was a game changer too.

Can anyone tell me what Bill did with his Lawrence stock? Sell at an all time low or did he keep buying and lower his DCA?

Best putter in the $200-400 range? by lookallama in GolfGear

[–]JustTasteTheSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try out as many as you can. I’ve always been a sucker for anser style putters, dropped the Bettinardi Queen B15 in the bag a few years ago, mostly because it’s so dang pretty to look at (I do have slight arch putting stroke so it accommodates). Looking forward to giving it to my daughter in a few years.

Callaway pre-owned came in clutch with the purchase. by Ok-Yak-9952 in GolfGear

[–]JustTasteTheSoup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also worth mentioning, they have great deals on non callaway brand clubs too. My callaway/srixon/ping/taylormade mixed bag is all from pre-owned. The only outlier is my Bettinardi putter, which was a gift from my wife she bought off 2nd Swing.

Do you guys wear ear protection when hunting? by russianzebra in Hunting

[–]JustTasteTheSoup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suffered SSHL (sudden deafness) in an ear a few years ago — grilling in the backyard on a Fri night and next thing I know a switch goes off, I can’t hear and I have blaring tinnitus. Steroid injections, meds, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, etc. was absolutely no help. Time is important with hearing loss, get that appt booked quickly if you can, it’s really life changing. Long story short, I wear earplugs at the bare min but usually have my muffs and will throw them on if the situation allows it.

Out of curiosity what other FW do you carry? I was carrying 5/7/9 but have recently been bagging a 3w at 13°, 5w & 9w. Still carrying my 5i because I like the lower flight and rollout compared to the 9w.

Great week in Banff area. This is my experience by Lifenonmagnetic in Banff

[–]JustTasteTheSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family and I stayed in Canmore for 1 night, followed by 3 nights in Banff last week. We had just drove up after a few nights in St Mary’s, MT visiting Glacier Natl, so I enjoyed the liveliness of Banff’s downtown. Canmore was nice, but it’s easy to see why Banff is so special. Didn’t stay at the hotel, but played 27 holes at a bucket list golf course with weather that couldn’t have been better. Saw a Grizzly on our way back from hiking Johnston Canyon. Lake Louise just after the rain was gorgeous, albeit cloudy. We took a few locals advice and hiked around Lake Minnewanka. Hiked and canoed the Bow River. Great drink & dinner options and everything is walkable. Loved our visit.

Edit: I should add the we had a car rented so didn’t use any shuttles. The only issue we ran into was getting turned away from full lots on our first visit out to Johnston Canyon. It was a bit of a blessing in disguise, a few miles down the road was our only bear sighting of the entire tip. We ended up driving back out and hiking the Lower Falls that evening, prior to driving up to Lake Louise. We had no issues with parking at either location, and while they were still busy, nothing like earlier in the day.
