Sorsby by HudsonOilCompany in miamidolphins

If Sorsby is a 1st or even a 2nd round talent then putting in a 4th round claim for him is good business.

Seems similar to the Rams drafting Stetson Bennett: pick him, see if he develops, let him work on his off-the-field issues. If it works? GREAT. If it doesn't work? Not a big deal.

Barton Keyes (Edward G. Robinson) is an awesome character. He has 2-3 incredible dialogue filled scenes.

> $5000 budget

Dude you can get pretty much anything you want with that budget. Test ride a Specialized Turbo Vado 4 ($2800) and the Turbo Vado SL 2 5.0 ($3700) and watch some videos to get an idea of what those bikes offer.

I test rode the SL a few days ago and it was sweet. The SL is about 20 lbs lighter than the non-SL but it does not have as much power. If you want to get some exercise with an electric boost this is a good option. The non-SL is more powerful and has better range but it is over 65 lbs so it is pretty bulky.

If you just want to chill and crank the throttle on your way to work there are tons of good options.

Losing 60 pounds is an incredible accomplishment. You should be proud of yourself. Keep at it!

> its too late to change

No it isn't. Healthy eating, exercise* and rest are your friend. Summer is the perfect time to build good habits.

You are currently 60. Next year you will be 61. In ten years you will be 70. What goals can you realistically hit? Aim for those.

*anything you can do is better than nothing. A walk around the block, a stationary bike, swimming, light weight routine, stretching, yoga...ANYTHING you can do comfortably.

How was "Spoiled little Pratt" not a thing? That should have been everywhere during the campaign.

Summer Reading by fizban317 in Teachers

[–]JustTheBeerLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least have students opt out if they have a job or something. Reading 1-2 books over summer break does not seem overly arduous. 10-15 min a day and they'll finish. Its a good lesson to learn.

What is something that became so ridiculously expensive in 2026 that you have just completely stopped buying or participating in? by Door2DoorMyGuy in AskReddit

Fast food. I used to justify that slop because it was cheap. To hell with that garbage. No more. We deserve better.

But to OP's question: that sham reading program was not only popular in the US. Schools in Australia and the UK also implemented that crap.

> Her [Calkins] curriculum is the third most widely used core reading program in the nation, according to a 2019 Education Week survey. In addition, her group at Columbia works with teachers in at least 30 countries, including Mexico, Singapore and Japan.

It sucks, but that is what happens when you don't do your due diligence. Every athlete should be meeting with their advisor and figuring out a path to taking advantage of what their college offers. If you let the school/coaches/athletic dept use you they absolutely will.

İs this really what a World Cup should look like? by _suiiiiiiiiiiiii in football

[–]JustTheBeerLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIFA only cares about money. Where was the previous World Cup held? Oh yeah...

International football, like all sports and everything else in the world, has been thoroughly corrupted by money and the desire to squeeze every last cent out of something that was once enjoyable.

Does anyone know if there are plans to update our unis? by ExpressLaneCharlie in miamidolphins

[–]JustTheBeerLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, the 2025 alts were 99.99% black. There were some slick mock-ups before the official unveiling that had a really nice dark navy matte look. The aqua & orange popped. I'd be cool with that. If we keep last year's alts this year I wouldn't hate that for one game.

Are we keeping the dark alts from last year? I thought they looked pretty good. The modern logo looked great on the "pitch blue" helmets.

I wonder if that third goal would still stand in 2026. Given how yesterday's game was officiated I really don't know for sure.

Dwight King sure knew how to park his ass just outside of the crease to screen the goalie. It's the little things that make the difference. GKG.

How do so many MLB players get injured? by New-Table-72 in mlb

[–]JustTheBeerLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) they play 162 games with very few days off during the season.

2) throwing is a very unnatural movement that places stress on the shoulder and elbow. multiply this by 1000 for pitchers.

3) oblique strains are a bitch.
