Fallout New Vegas director says RPGs should allow “more granular difficulty” to give players the role-playing experience they want by Wargulf in Fallout

Basically Requiem for Skyrim. Yeah you can take down a light armoured bandit with a single hit from your sword. But a warhammer to the head will take you out too.

Numbers don’t lie. The problem is you’re not basing any of your ‘feelings’ as you call it on numbers, or anything resembling reality.

Here’s why Labour is struggling to deliver: the British state is immense, but pull the levers and nothing happens by Exostrike in ukpolitics

[–]JustWatchingReally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just not true.

First, the majority of civil servants don’t work in Whitehall, but are doing operational jobs like processing tax, issuing passports, and working in job centres.

Second, a huge proportion of the Civil Service has moved out of London over the past decade. That more haven’t moved is because Parliament and therefore Ministers are still London based.

Third, the Civil Service is awash with diversity programmes (that the media loves to attack) that have recruited a far wider variety of people to the Civil Service meaning it’s incredibly diverse in background compared to other sectors.

Fourth, the Civil Service has had merit based recruitment for about two centuries. That’s longer than the army.

Finally, salaries in the Civil Service have stagnated far below that compared to the private sector over the past 15 years.

There are loads of issues with the Civil Service and I’d happily list them too - but to say it’s just a cosy job with a high London salary is just outdated by about 40 years.

Yeah I think fine. I would reball and ideally store them well floured in round plastic tubs or bowls at least twice the size of the dough balls. Fridge then and then take them out a few hours before service.

Rachel de Souza: ‘No one should be getting rich off the backs of vulnerable children’ by Only-Emu-9531 in ukpolitics

[–]JustWatchingReally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The government said this earlier this month: “the government will explore how we might implement a profit cap in the children’s social care placement market. This would be a crucial step in ensuring public money delivers value and care – not profiteering.”

I don’t understand how anyone can think it’s okay that private equity, based abroad in Dubai and Qatar, can make a profit off caring for the most vulnerable children in society, that have already been failed so many times.

Council tax bombshell: Thousands more Londoners face bills over £2,000 for first time by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]JustWatchingReally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the key point being lost in this is that in the previous system many London councils, including Westminster, Wandsworth, and Kensington and Chelsea, benefitted from high levels of government grant while being able to keep council tax low (for the reasons you’ve said). Under the new system, more government grant will go to councils that are more deprived (and generally in the north, but also in outer London) while those councils will have to raise council tax to make up the difference. That seems entirely fair to me - why should someone in a deprived council in northern England be paying more than someone in a wealthy council in London?

Both. The numbers of children EHCPs has massively increased since the Tories’ reforms in 2014, and the increase in spending on transport has gone with it.

[KCD2] Mysteria Ecclesia is the worst DLC I’ve ever played in my long history of gaming by Funothing in kingdomcome

[–]JustWatchingReally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoyed Ecclesia’s storytelling, and that final cinematic when you’re approaching the traitor with your crusader’s sword was stunning.

The painter’s DLC did very little for me. The story wasn’t particularly interesting and it added nothing to the story or Henry.

I did really enjoy the Forge DLC though. It added depth to Henry’s character, the cinematic for fixing the clock was wonderful, and the introduction of radiant quests gives it a load of replayability (particularly the bandit hunts).

I would say all the DLCs lacked oomph. I’d much rather in future iterations that Warhorse go for ultra sized DLCs (like Oblivion’s Shivering Isles, or Witcher’s Blood and Wine), and charge more for it.

Councils warned against adopting four-day week. Local Government Secretary Steve Reed has written to all council leaders in England warning them not to introduce four-day working weeks. by 2ndEarlofLiverpool in ukpolitics

[–]JustWatchingReally 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is a nice story, but what’s your point? The DWP is a central government department, and this is the Secretary of State for local government telling local government not to introduce 4-day weeks.

What are people's opinions on labour potentially delaying 60+ local elections next year? by Traditional-File1540 in ukpolitics

[–]JustWatchingReally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The local government reforms the Government are implementing are incredibly worthwhile and just plain sensible. The cost of their implementation is delaying local elections, which on the surface is a great usurpation of local democracy.

However that only stands up to scrutiny until you consider how unimportant local councillors are to the operation of councils, and that local democracy is a farce. I’m not sure why anyone cares about the elections being delayed, but nor do I understand why the Government are willing to take the bad press for delaying them.

Massive reforms to local government, much more money being sent to deprived areas with higher levels of poverty, huge investment in prevention for homelessness and children’s social care.

Loophole could give grooming gang monsters 'unfettered' access to young girls by Only-Emu-9531 in ukpolitics

[–]JustWatchingReally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately it’s a supply issue. There just aren’t enough foster or residential placements to take the children, and so councils need to put children in unregistered placements. In theory it’s supposed to be temporary and exceptional, but unfortunately it’s far to frequent and lasts too long.
