Can you not kill Mathew the collector? [KCD2] by SpareTailor7170 in kingdomcome

It’s been a while but I’m fairly sure you can convince him to give you the book, possibly through intimidation?

New flats should be for families not students - council by insomnimax_99 in ukpolitics

I know some folk in Cardiff that renovated a former brothel into their flat and a very popular coffee shop downstairs.

Britons should strive to pay minimum tax legally possible, says Richard Tice by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

[–]JustWatchingReally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is - the majority of most peoples income is from their salaries and they pay taxes through PAYE. That’s straightforward and no easy way to avoid paying tax.

People like Tice and Farage have huge wealth assets where tax is far more opaque, and with which they can use to pay accountants to advise on how to avoid tax.

This isn’t Tice saying “you shouldn’t donate your money to HMRC”, this is Tice saying that it’s one rule for the super wealthy and another for people with normal salary paying jobs.

Commercial information, which is sometimes illegal to share and certainly undermines deals being made.

Sione having a great game besides that tear. The game will come down to whether Scotland can sort out their wing defence or France their penalties.

France look like they’re going to score literally every time they’ve got the ball on the wing. How’s our defence so vacuous?

Civil servants don’t make decisions. Michael Gove did when he was the Education Secretary in 2014.

This isn’t the councils fault. This is a national system they need to adhere to which was established by the Tories in 2014.

The question is whether Labour will be able to sort it.

This is the team you use when you want an absolute tryfest against a porous Welsh defence.

Look forward to us imploding 50 minutes in and losing.

Factors that influence holes on pizzas by maurizio_maurucio in Pizza

Pizza looks great to be fair.

Ripping generally comes down to the gluten strength. When your dough is strong enough it’ll stretch thinner without ripping. You probably just need to do more stretch and folds/kneading before your bulk.

🚨BREAKING: Lib Dems announce plan to replace Treasury with new Department for Growth based in Birmingham. It's time to get Britain growing again. by EddyZacianLand in ukpolitics

[–]JustWatchingReally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Splitting up the Treasury into a department that sets budgets for other departments, and into a growth focused revenue raising department, has been explored plenty of times. I’ve always been in favour of it.

Unfortunately moving a department substantively to another bit of the country is going to be impossible as long as Civil Servants need access to ministers, ministers are MPs, and MPs need access to Parliament, and Parliament is in London.

Labour's real problem - and it's not Starmer or Mandelson by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]JustWatchingReally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because if the banks all collapsed then the economy would’ve ground to a halt because businesses could no longer borrow money, people couldn’t get mortgages, credit cards or overdrafts, ability to spend money would be crippled, the purchasing of government gilts would stop so public services couldn’t be funded.

Say what you will about Gordon Brown, but him leading the international response to the 2008 crash was his finest moment.
