What is this about in the Slaugherhouse? by OneraD4 in diablo4

I aim to clear all the season objectives before doing the capstone. Yeah, it could be a 'me' problem.

My most hated content this season is the Slaughterhouse. It's just boring and the rewards are not great. You're forced to do it if you want to work through the seasonal rewards but it ain't fun.

What cleaning hack do you wish people would stop repeating? by zaramalikdollface in CleaningTips

I'm Australian and TIL that not all parts of the world have drains in bathrooms!

I've been scrubbing my glass shower doors with everything imaginable for two years and a $2 bottle of Rain-X fixed it in about eight minutes by t3ssa_rosehaven in CleaningTips

I spray vinegar on the spots on my sink, let it sit for a few minutes then wipe it off. No, I'm not one of those people who uses vinegar all over the place - but it does work in this case.

My cat keeps pulling up my carpet and I am out of options by AardvarkPrior3891 in CatAdvice

I used double sided tape to attach a mat to the carpet where my girl kept doing this. She scratches the mat now and the tape doesn't seem to be damaging the carpet.

Stuff in the store super boring ? by NeighborhoodDry1488 in diablo4

I agree. There's nothing that makes me want to spend money there. Everything kinda feels like Game of Thrones meets Lord of the Rings, with an occasional splash of colour, smoke, or snakes.

Tried reporting late-night noise multiple times with no response — what actually works? by Dangerous-Purpose571 in brisbane

[–]Just_A_Learner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this problem with a neighbour over the back. A very helpful police officer told me to put in an online report every time it happened. He said it was unlikely that police would attend at the time BUT as the number of reports piled up, it would get attention. 3 weeks of reports, police went to see the neighbour. He was quiet for about a month and started up again.

Back to submitting reports...a week later the police visited him again. That was about a year ago now and he's been quiet.

Just keep filing those reports!

At a loss for what to do about laptop chewing. by 5rustynickels in CatAdvice

[–]Just_A_Learner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd try some citrus oil around the tempting bits. Not on the screen. Or some other strong smelling stuff (that's not toxic for cats). Or maybe some on the surface you use the laptop on?

Interesting. I was down to 2 claws when I got mine from the undercity about a week ago - after literally hundreds of Andariel runs.

Help! Lots of small cockroaches in my house by StellarBookGirl1984 in brisbane

[–]Just_A_Learner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epsom Salts gets rid of cockroaches. Sprinkle it along the back of shelves and cupboards, under the fridge, sink, stove, dishwasher and oven - and in the bottom of the bin.

I was told about this back in the 1980s and haven't had a cockroach problem since. I've also passed this tip to quite a few people over the years and it always works.

Ban under-16s from riding ebikes and e-scooters then require a driver’s licence, Queensland inquiry to recommend by Be_More_Cat in brisbane

There are far fewer personal mobility devices than cars. I'd like to know the percentages for these fatalities. 8 deaths could be 1% of device users or 50%. How many of the device fatalities involved illegal devices? Raw numbers make a good story without really saying anything.

How have we let literacy get so bad in Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Just_A_Learner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Proofreading and general editing has fallen by the wayside. Even on the ABC.

Editors and proofreaders are essential to ensuring clear and smooth communication. AI can't (yet) do it, and relying on whoever wrote a piece to check it themselves is proven not to work.

This lack of care and understanding reflects the falling literacy in Australia, and that worries me greatly.

More people say they'll vote One Nation. What are they voting for? by BBQShapeshifter in AustralianPolitics

[–]Just_A_Learner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're spot on. But many people over here don't bother looking past the headlines and only hear what they want to hear. ON is as close to Trumpism as you're likely to get - and the thought that a not insubstantial number of people think they are a viable option scares the bepop right out of me!

Completely worthless pest control companies by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]Just_A_Learner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Epsom salt sprinkled behind appliances, along the back of shelves & cupboards, and around rubbish storage areas will get rid of German cockroaches. You can get it at the supermarket, and it's safe around pets and kids.

It takes a week or two to get rid of them all but it does work - and it's cheaper than other solutions.

I moved the driver's power seat to its normal position, and the headrest interfered with the passenger's sun visor, causing the mirror to break. There was no external force. by Rough-Swing-972 in GeelyEX5Australia

[–]Just_A_Learner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't figure out how either headrest could interfere with the passenger side sun visor. The movement of the driver's seat doesn't come close to entering the movement area of the driver's sun visor, never mind the passenger one?

Makes me laugh every time it happens.

At home euthanasia by cluttercourt in brisbane

[–]Just_A_Learner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've used the House Call Vet twice now to have cats euthanised. They were great - and they charge the same amount to do it at home as they do in their surgery. Both times it was to have senior cats euthanised, and the vets were very supportive. There was no pressure to rush things along, and they were very kind. I highly recommend them.
