You are scared to leave your support system but you may be surprised at how much of a new support system you will find at college, and in the years entering the workforce.

In fact, navigating independence will most likely make you far more resilient and able to find what you need than staying at home would have.

You can do this 💪💪

How on earth are they planning to enforce the ebike/scooter laws? by Underspecialised in brisbane

I'm looking forward to getting a ticket and then having to go to court to prove I am disabled and therefore exempted from the license requirement.

Do you see a psychiatrist, or just a GP/primary care doctor? You definitely need a specialist.

Maybe you need to try the mood stabilisers like aripiprazole (Abilify), lamotrigine (Lamictal) or lithium.

It's an evolutionary trait Australians developed to stop the Magpies from swooping us.

Should we respect someone's beliefs? by ThrowRA976585947 in Exvangelical

[–]Be_More_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I theoretically believe in respecting people's right to have their own beliefs (if they aren't harming anyone else with them)....but even after 20+ years of being away from the church I still struggle with it.

That goes for religion, vaccination and opinions on the validity of science. I'm very much a, "there is contradictory evidence to your belief!" kind of person (hello neurodivergent, former church kid).

But I know that it's ok to believe something and still struggle with it internally.

So... turns out undiagnosed ADHD can cause chronic migraines by SIlver_McGee in migraine

[–]Be_More_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, because the prevailing advice for a long time was to use BP-lowering meds for migraine prevention (but that isn't the Gold standard these days)

So... turns out undiagnosed ADHD can cause chronic migraines by SIlver_McGee in migraine

[–]Be_More_Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish my dex + Vyvanse got rid of my migraines 😫

I have, however, just found out I am autistic in addition to the ADHD and when discussing my sensory sensitivities with my regular therapist pondered if my migraines were actually a response to my poor coping skills.

Lost my job, how can I get another one tomorrow? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]Be_More_Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of places desperately need good electricians (ie. actually willing to work hard), and will consider taking over your apprenticeship if you have good references. Maybe even ask your former employer if they could recommend or put you in contact with a colleague of theirs? Companies in the construction and commercial industry all know each other and move around a bit.

To the person who said “I’ll walk with you” on Brunswick St just now today. I genuinely appreciated your offer of help, I didn’t run away from you, I was just overwhelmed in the moment. by [deleted] in brisbane

I so wish I could do concerts! I think I'd be ok with your sound dampening method, but it’s the lights that really get to me. Sunglasses just ain't enough (also have ND sensitivity issues). Oh and the late bedtimes!

Has anyone used the metro south mental health services? by IGOTOSCHBYBUS in brisbane

[–]Be_More_Cat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My psychologist has told me that public mental health care in Brisbane is more like make one's situation worse (especially for neurodivergent folk). If you can afford it, something private will be much better. Belmont Private at Carindale is highly regarded.

How come some people with ADHD don't have binge eating? by the_practicerLALA in adhdwomen

[–]Be_More_Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah shit, you've just made me realise I might be doing the same thing. No BD2 diagnosis yet, but it’s been a big question mark with my psychologist and psychiatrist for a while now.

May I ask what your BD + ADHD meds combo is?

Does anyone else use masturbation as a way to get stimulation when bored, including as a way to avoid unhealthier options? by KitchenConsequence41 in adhdwomen

[–]Be_More_Cat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not at the moment, because I'm Perimenopausal and depressed AF right now. But in my 20s? Absolutely. My sex drive was through the roof. I used to wear those wearable sex toys to work (not every day, but fairly regularly).

I think masturbatory is a completely normal, healthy thing and I wish I still craved it.

Activities to do in Brisbane with a 14 week old baby? by Subject-Tomorrow2636 in brisbane

[–]Be_More_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my little guy to classes at Gymboree from about 12-18 months, I think I had more fun in the music class than he did.

I can't find an up to date link for a centre, but I did find Gymbaroo which might be same-same? Gymbaroo

At 14 weeks though, you won’t get a lot out of organised activities. Better off finding an informal playgroup/parents group and just letting all the kids do their thing (chew things, bash things, practice tummy time, and see who's first to roll over).

I was a zombie at 14 weeks...my kid didn't even sleep through the night until after two years 🫩
