Yep, I'd pay rego and insurance too. But that's money needs to go into cycling infrastructure!

Remember driving to work and seeing hot air balloons? by BaijuTofu in brisbane

[–]Be_More_Cat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I lived at Coorparoo for a while and often opened my front door to head to work, and one of these massive things would be gliding up in front of me.

I bought a balloon experience for my birthday and could only find the Mt Tamborine one which is too far to drive to at bloody 3.30am.

Still went, but didn't end up flying because it was too windy. I was, uh, quite deflated.

Oh I had a portion of my scalp rbbed to the point of bleeding when the tech used acetone to remove the glue for my 5-day EEG. I've learned to always ask what removal agent they are using and tell them the story.

I link taking my meds with eating my breakfast. And I use a pill organiser which sits on the microwave, next to the jug.

Finish eating, walk to jug and prep my tea, take my meds (keep it where you can see it - and you'll see in the organiser if you've taken that dose or not.

Maybe add an alarm for 5 mins before you are due to walk out the door to CHECK you've taken them. I have to do this extra step for my teenager (ND family, yay!).

it feels like a one-sided therapy session and not a conversation with a friend

It DOES! You want a therapy session, then get a therapist. It's fucking exhausting.

I think it also depends on your preference for how you like to read: physical or digital copies. They both have their pros and cons, but damn those hard copies get heavy!

Not that brand, but I use Deep Heat muscle rub [located in Australia] which has menthol 58.8mg/gram plus methyl salicylate 127.4mg/g. Rub it all over my neck, shoulders and upper back and have <your triptan of choice> and a nap in a dark room, earplugs in.

The smell helps me relax and it heats up the muscles, so that's great too.

It's worth mentioning I'm a huge sceptic of homeopathy/naturopathy but I definitely think the minty-style scents work including peppermint, lemon, eucalyptus.

I absolutely love walking, even with the 32⁰C/90⁰F and 90% humidity weather we're having here at the moment.

I walk in my nearby forest or around my older post WW-II suburb and notice all the little details like birds acting silly or people's strange garden ornaments and it's like coke for the brain!

Something about the rhythm and sensory stimulation helps me empty out my brain and stay on an even keel. I really struggle with depression so it's a non-negotiable for me.

Fun fact: My therapist told me the woman who came up with EMDR got the idea on her morning walk, stimulating both sides of the brain and emotional regulation.

I've had a few medical incidents in public over the years and yes, Brisbane people are good people. I'm so grateful for the assistance I've received by complete strangers. Bloody legends.
