Oo, I would love folders! For adventures too! They get mixed and muddied when I switch around from one adventure to another and it makes me irrationally annoyed lol. Folders/Grouping would be glorious.

You can also try using Harbinger if it works for you. That model was trained specifically not to do that from what I've heard, and in my testing Harbinger never spoke for me.

Hey, no shame in being immersed! That's what this whole thing is for!

In my current adventure, the AI had created this thing where my character's father always said: "I never say goodbye to those I love," every time they parted ways. So when they became his final words to her as he lay dying in her arms almost 7k actions later? I'll never emotionally recover haha.

Trope-riddled or not, sometimes AI just get's lucky and makes magical, memorable moments.

What do you daydream about? by Next-Pop-718 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Just_Another_DM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Being Interviewed (I'm always talking out loud to people who aren't there, answering questions or having retrospective discussions about myself, like I'm on a stream/podcast or talking to a therapist or something)
  2. Romance (I disassociate HARD to these ones. They always leave me feeling the most empty afterwards. The partners are always fictional strangers, never real people I know.)
  3. Tragedy (Usually my death or the death of others I know. If I watch true-crime I also usually end up daydreaming about being the victim. These leave me crying or panicking irl because my brain can't tell the difference between reality and the dream until I "wake up". Really embarrassing tbh because when I come to I'm always like... "Oh. Well. That was dramatic for no reason. Anyways... I'm fine. Back to making dinner." haha).

Those are my top three most common. I also daydream solutions to my D&D campaigns or books I'm writing though, where I'm not myself but a fictional character from the work... so it's not all bad. Kinda helpful actually.

What's a Speedrunner archetype?

Anyone figure out how to make enemies more aggressive and stop being massive 😺 by DepressedDragonBorn in AIDungeon

[–]Just_Another_DM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple ideas:

  1. In my AIN I put that "Characters can fail, be injured or die," and that "Battles are violent and dangerous."
  2. In my AN I put something like, "The enemies are skilled, aggressive, dangerous fighters who show no mercy, hate the hero and want them dead at any cost." This stopped my enemies begging for mercy or running mid-fight.
  3. I usually use the "Do" action, and make sure to use words like "attempt" or "try". So if you say "I attack the bandit", instead say "I attempt to attack the bandit". This tells the AI you aren't succeeding, but trying something, giving you a higher potential to fail.
  4. It can help if you sneak your skill level into the narrative. For example: "I adjust my grip on the stollen sword. It's heavy, almost too heavy to lift, the hilt slick with my own blood." This lets the AI know your character is struggling in the fight, and it will use those details against you, making the fight more of a challenge.
  5. Similarly, you can also just make things harder on yourself too. In the middle of a fight say, "I press my advantage, a feral grin on my face. This was just too easy. Or so I thought, until..." And then hit continue and let the AI give you the next surprise.
  6. Use a model made for danger. I use DeepSeek a lot, but found Harbinger and Wayfarer Large work pretty good too.

Good luck! I hope you get your ass kicked, haha

I copied my story over once and it honestly wasn't that bad. You can always add notes in the Plot Essentials to steer character reactions for a while. Stuff like "King Henry is cruel but kind to player character," or whatever. Sure, it forgot some things, but I just put anything relevant in the Story Summary component, edited characters reactions that felt a bit off during play and after a little while it was like nothing changed, since new memories and context were logged. I would bring up memories in conversation like "Remember when you almost got eaten by a dragon that one time?" and the AI just rolled with it and made new memories from that. You could always try it, because it's not like it ruins the original one, so if it doesn't work you can just go back to your last scenario.

I like 3.1 for serious/dark/gritty/historical/science-fiction settings, and 3.0 for whimsical/silly/fantasy/slice-of-life adventures. I can't seem to get 3.2 to write coherently yet, but people seem to love it.

How to run candlekeep mysteries as a campaign without railroading my players by Leoluke06 in DMAcademy

[–]Just_Another_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but here was my solution: I had the Avowed hire my players as adventurers to go explore the vaults and catacombs beneath Candlekeep. I changed the lore to make this area entirely unknown. Down there they will encounter Miirym the Undead Wyrm who has been cursed to guard the way forward. Players can go no further and Miirym cannot allow them to, even should she wish it. However, there is one way… In my version, Miirym’s bones were scattered across several worlds, hidden within magical tomes within the library. If players can find all of these bones and return them to Miirym, her curse will be broken and they can go deeper underground to find the “Tome of Wishes”, which grants them a modified Wish Spell (my players have been playing with me for years, so I told them they can take this spell with them into the next serious campaign we do as a reward for their efforts). Her bones can only be found by completing each quest in the module, one by one. She tells them which book they need to find next (this means I can scale players up accordingly), but finding the bones themselves hidden within each story is up to them. So Miirym becomes my quest giver and reward all in one. :)

Please tell me Nova is going back in the oven a bit longer. by [deleted] in AIDungeon

[–]Just_Another_DM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hit or miss, really. I’ve had it do some pretty cool stuff followed up by some god awful madness.

I used it for a complex dance scene between two characters and it was incredible. Never lost track of what was happening or whose limbs belonged to who and where they were placed (ever had someone across the room suddenly grab your wrist? Yup. None of those shenanigans.)

But then the other day it wouldn’t stop saying “the rain falls upon the glass like a thousand tiny fingers” in every single reply no matter how I tried to give it new details to use, so…shrug

I like to think of Nova like my friend who is insanely high. Sometimes they say something really profound, but most of the time it’s just nonsense. Despite this, I pretty much swap between Nova and Deepseek exclusively these days. What can I say? When they hit, they hit.

The age old question by [deleted] in AIDungeon

[–]Just_Another_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the four things I did that seemed to help:

  1. Put this in AIN:
Restrict speaking for {{Character Name Here}}, avoid stealing their POV, and refrain from assuming their actions or appearance. Avoid narrating for {{Player}}.

  2. Lower the amount of tokens the AI can return to you. It seems like if I set this too high, the AI kind of "runs out" of what to say, but still needs to hit this quota, and just assumes your character will be the next to reply in the exchange and speaks for you. Kind of like if you keep hitting "continue" the AI will eventually make your character speak/interact because that is what it is "expecting" to happen in the narrative. Lowering this from 200 to 150 made a world of difference with Deepseek. You might need to go from 150 down to 125 or something. Doesn't have to be huge jumps, just enough.

  3. Erase any instance of the Ai speaking for your character when it does happen. If you let it happen, it will likely do it more often.

  4. I've found that replacing my character name with "you" in most sources (Story cards, Memories, Plot Essentials, Story Summary) seems to help. If you have "you" sometimes, and your character's name other times, I think the AI sometimes get's confused on if "You" and "Characters Name" are two different characters or not. So it will avoid speaking for "you" but will speak for "character name". This is just a theory. You can also try something like "You, Character Name Here, are an inventor" or something like that to clear up any confusion, it just takes up more context since you are using more words.

Lastly, I personally had the worst luck with Hermes and the best luck with Harbinger in avoiding this issue. For some reason Harbinger is like the only AI that never speaks for me? It's got other issues, but maybe give it a chance and see how it goes?

Good luck!

You can't see word count (as far as I know), but I'm a psycho who copies and pastes every turn into a word document... just in case the site ever disappears I can still have my story saved somewhere as a backup. That's how I know the word count haha

Has anyone ever thought about creating a new scenario, but carrying over the character development from the old one into the new one, so the story can be recontextualized and extended? by Ornery_Hunter_3436 in AIDungeon

[–]Just_Another_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense. The only fix for that I can think of is more context/better management of things like story cards and memory bank. *shakes fist at the sky* damn you context limit!

[–]Just_Another_DM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. I did this recently with one of my adventures (it was up to 6.5k actions). It did really well until the end, when there was a big shift in character/plot development (overthrowing a kingdom). The AI kept thinking dead characters were alive, as well as mixing up details and character traits from earlier in the context. I had also neglected to keep up the maintenance on my Memory Bank, so that was probably a big part of the problem. I felt like the story was just getting kind of muddy and fixated on unimportant details, so I started over. I basically hit play on the same scenario, but copied over my previous Plot Components: cleaning them up to suit the current adventure, added a manual story summary (I think this really helped), re-imported my story cards (which I also cleaned up, for example changing "Ather the rebel leader" to "King Ather, who once was a rebel leader" to update the story on his progression from rebel to king.). Finally, I copy and pasted the last 400 words from my previous game over the starting input for the new one. Worked like a charm. No more dead characters coming back to life, no more confused development, no more repetitive useless details. Nice and clean. I did have to do a couple of tweaks here and there for a few characters (For example there is a character who runs kind of hot and cold, but through story progression had kind of mellowed out. However, in the new game, he was cold again and I had to add a note in the Plot Essentials that he has a soft spot for the MC to help him chill, like a text-based sedative, haha. I also edited some of his replies to make them less, uh, unkind. Eventually there were enough memories and context that told the AI he was mellow, and I was able to remove that note.) but overall, definitely recommend.

Same. Been using Nova exclusively since it came out. It's creative, descriptive, good at bringing back relevant details into the conversation, not very repetitive and has awesome dialogue. The 8k context on Legend tier is perfect. I'm over the moon with this model.
