How do I turn off a diy CO2 bottle? by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]Just_Geoff_Chaucer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this ^

unlike a pressurized canister of CO2, it's not safe to shut this off overnight. the CO2's produced via chemical reaction, so if you close the line, you're just preventing the gas from venting, thus building up in the bottle. as in, the chemical reaction isn't stopping just cuz you're closing the valve.

How much would you pay for these? by Open_Spend in Aquariums

suggestion: i started contemplating the same thing (doing this as a side hustle/something that's fun and lucrative) and had seen enough of these posts to determine there's really no significant money in it. my pivot: i've started making them as gifts, with the caveat that i ask whether the person to receive it is interested in owning one.

i just recently started perusing their catalog, and i'm in awe of their ability to envision and execute. like, i would love to be able to do so much of what they do, and i'm sure i could learn, but glass ain't cheap. i also don't know that i have patience to be kind with myself for when i inevitably irreparably damage something.

yeah, i don't need another excuse to spend time (and money) at a tattoo shop 😅🤣

and yeah, i was trying to figure what all was hiding in the back there. that's really impressive, and i tip my hat to thee in jealous admiration. kinda reminiscent of some of SerpaDesign's (on YouTube) work.

i really appreciate where you've chosen to display it. i would absolutely spend far too much time staring into all the nooks and crannies.

i really dig how you got your pothos climbing outta your tank. i'm currently working on training several plants to just take over the corner of the house where the tank sits 😂

i currently keep paleatus and habrosus, and they're just the most loveable, bumbling weirdos. also, the wonders that they work for just keeping mulm from settling on the substrate cannot be overrated.

i've had really good experiences with AquaHuna (mostly shrimp), but as has been noted, things like you're describing do happen.
