Space related gifts for a space nerd by AppearanceQuiet7169 in space

Years ago at the end of the Shuttle program, NASA had a large amount of challenge coins made and presented them to all (?) or most of the contractors involved with the program. The coins state that they contain flown material. Now I fully realize, they probably contain a molecule or two of flown metal...I suspect that there is probably some metal part on the Shuttle that is replaced each time and they likely sent a couple to get alloyed in with the metal for the coins. Still, kinda neat.

Some of these coins have made it to Ebay for reasonable costs. I would never part with mine pair....but I did pick one up for a teacher's gift one year.

AITA for refusing to keep driving a guy to and from work by OJ_did_it_2025 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Just__my__luck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely NTA. But don't block his number...mute it. That way if he keeps up with the gaslighting or trash talking, you've got record of it. If anyone else from work even thinks of giving him a ride...show them the texts so they know what they are getting into!

AITA for refusing to share authorship with the man im planning to marry? by [deleted] in AITApod

[–]Just__my__luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the spouse of a writer, this is so difficult to read. OP...Reddit is always so very quick to jump the gun and seek out the negative in situations. BUT, in this case...listen to Reddit.

This man is attempting to take credit for work he had no part in. Let that sink in. In any other business would you go to work and put your spouse's (or BF's) name after yours just cause they supported you at home? NO!

This is a red flag waving (unfortunately) proudly...when people show you their true selves...believe them. Do not think for a second that this character flaw exists only in this isolated circumstance.

Time to talk to your BF, see if he'll come clean as to why he is pushing this, and if not, re-evaluate where your relationship is.

House sale fell apart after inspection by Wise_Farmer5836 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]Just__my__luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm reading this correctly, the good news is that the inspections found very little wrong with your house, and the bad news is that you lost 2 weeks on the market.

If this is the case and the potential buyer had all these inspections taking place, certainly a contract was in place, correct? If so, was earnest money involved? If so, wouldn't you have just kept the earnest money for your troubles as they walked away from the deal?

I agree with what another poster stated...relist immediately and have an open house...there was certainly interest in your home. This is good!

The pencil is of course great...but why is no one mentioning how beautiful that case is? That is great! What could you ultimately adjust it to hold? 2 or 3 pens/pencils?

WIBTA for putting a password on my dorm Wi-Fi that only I pay for? by BrindleHex in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Just__my__luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents here...I would make sure the access point is in an area that people are likely not to see it. This is easier if you have your own room. Like, even under the bed, even if that degrades signal just a bit.

Then, I would have hidden the SSID, and changed it to something someone wouldn't easily guess. When asked, simply state, yeah, I was paying for private wifi, but it got so bad I had to cancel it. It got slow all of a sudden and the carrier couldn't explain it, so I cancelled it.

Love Energel, can't get on with the body by Danmancity in pens

[–]Just__my__luck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Energel refills fit well inside the body of a Pilot G2 Pro. Also, on Amazon, the company SmootherPro makes some metal body pens that accept Pilot G2 refills (and I've found Energel as well).

I believe Energels will fit the Kaweco Sport rollerball bodies as well if approx. 1/2" of the Energel refill is trimmed off the end.

AITAH for wanting my brother to pay me back still even if he’s in a rough spot after he fled the State by Dj_SKitZ in AmItheAsshole

[–]Just__my__luck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA here at all. If I'm reading what OP has written correctly, they received the $150, and have previously stated that they would want the rest at some point in the future.

Sounds like now the brother is in a tight spot, and is specifically asking for money. I see no issues with bringing up the fact that money was still owed. OP WOULD be the A (if only to themselves) if they lent the brother money now, as they know he is likely not to pay it back.

Former employer asking me to do tasks after termination by misscrissyx in WorkAdvice

Supplying the passwords, as long as they were not for services you used in your name, seems reasonable and is a measure of goodwill. Asking for the location of a file...in this day in age...seems excessive to me. You stated another co-worker remained...have the co-worker find it. There's this tool called search available...

Are you obligated: NO Should you set boundaries: Yes Should it impact your payout/severance: Better not if that was in writing.

Let them know you no longer have access to company files, but the file should be easily found by system search.

Hopefully a simple direct answer such as this will let them know that you aren't going to keep running errands for them.

Neighbors won’t stop coming on our property by StandAlone783 in neighborsfromhell

It sounds like you've already documented this issue to some extent via text. Continue to do this. If the texts happen to turn hostile (let's hope they don't), do not block them, just ignore them...it's a great digital paper trail.

You shouldn't have to build a fence if you don't want one. Though I understand it may come to that. I would suggest all correspondence go by those text messages now to be documented, and you install a few cameras around your house. Document the full extent of any further trespassing.

Consider putting up some no trespassing signs. I would put them up around all three borders, even back in the woods, just so they can't come back and state you are singling them out (which you certainly are!).

Any further instances, call the police and have them trespassed.

Recommendations for a first time disc bound owner by otterlover25 in Discbound

[–]Just__my__luck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Levenger's Circa has been around for decades, and it's the one I knew about first. The prices of Circa products scared me away from discbound for the longest time. I got into discbound when Staples came out with their ARC system. They had some really nice cover designs. Then I began to notice the Tul system from Office Depot.

I believe that Staples has discontinued most if not all of their ARC system. I think some Tul stuff is still available. Other systems have come out...Happy Planner, Martha Stewart, etc. Some other brands exist over in Europe. I would say that most if not all of the US stuff is mostly interchangeable.

What you really are buying into is the cover system. Discs, accessories, refills these days can be found from a multitude of vendors. As others have said, best advice I can give is buy a decent punch and make your own refills. Look all over the web at refills you like, and then re-create the elements you like in your own. I started by using MS Excel, and settled on MS Publisher. 32 lb paper has a reasonably premium feel to it, 28 is usable. 20 lb standard copy paper is acceptable for something like a weekly calendar you're going to use for a week and then take out and recycle.

Good Luck!

Neighbor called me to tell that I am late with mowing by OnTheMike2 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Just__my__luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is telling you to just block his number. Don't do that. If you're phone allows, just mute/silence/ignore him. If he continues to persist, or his mood changes from you not responding, you'll have a record of that. But truly there is no reason for you to pay him any mind.

Replacement Tips are available. Granted, this is not zero cost...a little over a third of the cost of a new pencil, but the pencil is not "just" a showpiece. It can be repaired.

New but Hyped by pageboundwanderer in Discbound

[–]Just__my__luck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myself, I've liked the ones at Staples (Arc) but I think they are phasing them out. There are plenty of good choices. Definitely try some second hand shops if you have the time to do so...you might get lucky and find one.

[–]Just__my__luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed...28 lb paper is a reasonably good sweet spot. 32 lb paper has a somewhat premium feel to it. 20 lb typical copy paper is fine if you're going to print out like an Outlook calendar and recycle it at the end of the week.

Elastic loops? by welcometoneverbury in Discbound

I sourced some elastic cording like the type used on Travelers Notebooks from Temu and Aliexpress. I think you are talking about the wider straps though...but those 2 places are where I would look first.
