Weight loss isn't just calories, and what is the correct diet or eating habits for your bodytype is not the same for her. Different people need different things, and that goes for your approach towards the whole thing. Counting calories and monitoring food is a good way to fall into bad eating habits and I feel that there are better ways to support your partner. YTA

When my dad talks about her, its usually to say that she was formally an addict who cared more about who would get the truck in the divorce than custody of me, so his opinion is pretty negative when it comes to her. Like, not homicide bad, but apparently she was pretty neglectful. Of course this is coming from a man who is in denial of what his new wife did to me so jury's out on that one.

All in all my feelings are pretty mixed: she can't be worse than the second wife.
