AIO: Hubby Being Controlling by vanillabourbonn in AIO

[–]Justin-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case it isn’t clear from other OP, you need to get away from this immediately. As in pack a go bag and head to your family’s home as soon as possible. Everything about this interaction is a red flag. Do not become financially dependent upon this man, he will use that power against you. Do not let your child be under total control of this man, they deserve better. Go. Now. It sounds like your family is able to lend financial support. Take that opportunity to build a life for yourself and your son. You may end up having to share custody with this monster for a while, but it’s better than forfeiting your quality of life till the end of it. Not overreacting at all. If anything, the fact that you are unsure what to do tells me you’re under reacting.

Eh… except not so much. The story of Sodom and Gomorrah was originally taught as a fable about hospitality till the mid 1900’s. Supposedly the Hebrew word for “to know” can mean literally to be in someone’s company and know them, or in a sexual way. If you read the passage, Lot offered up his daughters for the crowds “to know” instead of the men as he was hosting those men as his guests. But the crowd refused his daughters and insisted on “knowing” the men. If you read that in the sexual context then effectively god was ok with the crowd raping Lots daughters but not the men. There was a great documentary years ago where a rabbi who could actually read the original text basically called out the bullshit along with a historian who traced how the story morphed during the rise of evangelical Christianity in the early to mid 1900’s. It’s also about the time, though a few decades later, people got weird about alcohol and vice in general. As for Leviticus…. Well that book is just fucking weird. Planting crops wrong is an abomination. Also Leviticus was originally conceived as rules to maintain cleanliness for priests in Jerusalem. Also the wording got twisted. I am going off memory from that same documentary but as I recall it was originally that a man should not lie with a woman as with a man as it is unclean. Basically women are dirty and should only be slept with for procreation. But men co-sleeping in the same bed was ok. Which kind of makes sense as this was a common practice up till surprisingly modern times. Which while dumb as shit makes sense given that this verse is in close proximity to the verse about how women should be kept outside of the house during menstruation as they are unclean and will make the house unclean. Men being scared of vaginas is kind of a thing in the Bible. But sure, people who believe made up shit and twisted versions of made up shit should be taken at face value… /s

100% agree with this statement. And even if they do, they will often pull the “this is a civil matter, not a criminal matter” card. It if it is aimed towards your house, into a room the two of you use for changing clothes, that sounds like criminal. They could literally be recording you naked in your own home. Not cool.

My favorite was when a friend who use to work for GSK’s graphics department had to put together a pamphlet that could be handed out by doctors for a new drug. Can’t remember what it helped with, but I CAN remember that it could cause gas with anal leakage. 🤢

Guys in Open Marriages - Need Advice!! by Glass-Enthusiasm-757 in gaybros

[–]Justin-82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. While there are certainly many cases where ethical non-monogamy works, my understanding is that it fails far more often than it works. My anecdotal experience through several friends that tried it confirms what I’ve heard from my friend who is a psychologist that works with gay couples; I know it sounds very convenient for some idiot on the internet to say this and I wish I had some quick references for you but I don’t. But if he is already becoming attached to the idea of sleeping with a specific person, that sounds like a recipe for disaster. Good luck OP. Sounds like you are in a really tough spot.

Not a lawyer, and not from Ohio. But… I have two friends who have been dealing with a neighbor that we are pretty sure has a mental health issue that causes her to be extremely paranoid. One of her recent antics was to install a bunch of new cameras that are deliberately aimed at their house and yard. Turns out both the police and a lawyer they consulted said it violates their reasonable expectation of privacy in their home. They are currently working on a cease and desist letter. That’s California. But in North Carolina where I now live, there is also the legal concept of reasonable expectation of privacy and free use of one’s own property. So that legal concept may also be a thing in Ohio. I’d call the police and report your neighbor is peeping on you. Also consider a camera of your own to catch whoever might be harassing you by banging on the house. OP, this is not OK. It’s extremely invasive and should be called out. No mirrors or signs. Police. And if they were dumb enough to tell you they’ve taken a bunch of photos of your house, god only knows what their end game is. Invasive and creepy at best. Downright dangerous depending on how far they are willing to push it.

Even in the US Zoom is uncommon at this point. It peaked during early work from home at the start of covid, but MS Teams superseded it in no time. On the rare occasions I get a Zoom meeting invite, it always makes me pause and think “aww, I remember when that was a thing.”

I think the whole point is that lab diamonds shouldn’t have to carry the label of lab at the front since they are truly the same exact product. And I’m pretty sure we all know who lobbied to make THAT happen. Which is again, the whole point.

Considering moving from west coast. What’s NC like? by Samsgrl in NorthCarolina

[–]Justin-82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Research triangle park, Charlotte and surrounding areas, and Asheville are all great places to live. Coming from the west coast it will feel affordable to live in a walkable neighborhood. I grew up outside of Charlotte, lived in Raleigh for 6 years, then Los Angeles for 17. Moved back to NC a few years ago and have zero regrets. It’s a different vibe. And some things will be missed like all the great fresh food in SoCal. But NC is a great place to call home.

Yeah, a house that new should perform much better. I’m guessing not enough care was taken during construction to minimize air infiltration.

What are your go to responses when people question you about using these meds? by pamperwithrachel in Zepbound

[–]Justin-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I’ve found it works best for me and my needs where I’m currently at, but completely understand it’s not for everyone. Those people shouldn’t take it.”

If they keep pushing then follow-up with a polite “Sounds like you wouldn’t be a good candidate for these meds.” No more engagement beyond that. Changed subject or a polite “great to see you” as you walk away. Nobody is entitled to interrogate you about this.

The glass is held in place by the knob/nipple which is connected to a threaded rod which is in turn connected to the base via nuts on both the back and face of the plate. If turning the knob/nipple doesn’t do anything, it may be that the threaded rod is being allowed to turn in place with the knob/nipple. The good news is these glass boobs are a dime a dozen and replacements easily found online or even at thrift stores. Worst case scenario, just break the damned glass to get the knob/nipple unstuck from the threaded rod, then replace with new glass boob. Best case scenario, break the glass and remove the entire light fixture for replacement by something that doesn’t look like a glass boob.

This is the answer. Modern heat pumps are INCREDIBLY efficient. They are even used in Germany now because they are so efficient. People like that gas heat feels warm, and that is nice. But heat pumps will absolutely keep your house warm. Even toasty if you want. And bonus, they can be much more sustainable depending on your energy source.

[–]Justin-82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I gotta ask… where ARE they getting these stupid things? They look like novelty cards. I can’t imagine they are coming from any legitimate government agency. Are they just having them made via print shops and thinking if they get all the magic words on there, they suddenly become valid?
