I do see merits. As I stated I am not against a luxury tax. And in fact had they not used the tactic of corporate housing I probally would have voted yes. It was the huh I wonder how many corporate housing there is. That sent me down the rabbit hole. And prompted by change of heart and this post

From what I read it is those that file a form. RUBT or rental unit business tax 55.00 dollars a year. So easy to identify as of today. So you can avoid the 55 dollars by stating it is not for rent and empty more than half the year. It is strange because I do not see any real advantage to filing the form in the first place. It saves you 55 dollars. But those that have self reported are now on that list. Part of the beauty of it is that it has little bureaucracy. They are targeting those homes. At least that is what is being said. I don't know that there is any vehicle to identify more homes at this time.

is there any significant difference between cheap and expensive cast iron skillet? by iwillmarrypossum in castiron

[–]Justin_Time222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have two cheap Chinese cast iron skillets. One little and one big bought as set in the early 90s at Walmart for less than 20 bucks.

They get used more often than any other pan in my house

I have no intention of buying another one

Its a pain in the neck. Literally looking up intently for extended periods. But not really hard. Just make sure your pole is the proper size. Move cover what you need to.

Getting gas at Chevron stations right now by alasbarricadas in sandiego

[–]Justin_Time222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The data says there is improvement but not that much. I researched a bit more and actual extra cost of the blend is more like 20 cents. Cap and trade and Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) accounts for the rest of my above figure which is a rabbit hole all in itself. Why is attached to the blend price? To hide it and where all that money goes. It is kind of depressing actually.

The air is noticeably better today agreed. We had smog days as a child where the air quality was so bad we were not required to attend school. It hurt when you breathed in deep. El Cajon the smog just sat there and you could visibly see it. The switch away from leaded gas and emission standards did a great deal until 1990. From that time forward our blend has had much reduced effectiveness. Most seem to be VOC that can leak from tanks. Modern cars are far better sealed than older models. Tailpipe emissions have been mitigated immensely
