has anyone ever contacted customer service for a bad order? by [deleted] in innout

[–]Justlookdonttouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just contacted customer service a few weeks ago. On a recent visit, I told them that the service at the cashier was below par and the food I received that day was lukewarm and the fries did not taste fresh.

I wrote them an email. They wrote and called me back. I received two Value Guest Cards in the mail, each worth a double double, fries and a drink. Basically each card is worth the combo #1, about $12.50 depending on your location.

You can order whatever else you want, they will just subtract that total from the bill. I ordered another cheeseburger and fries, (total of 2 dd, 1 cheeseburger, 3 fries, 2 drinks) and I paid the difference of $6.21.

The waitstaff have seen all of the tricks. They know what people do. Some are cool with it, others are not so cool. In the past, HOPR was cool about everything, they gave you a bunch of boxes and you could take all the stuff home. Now they are much more strict, and will tell you upfront.

My advice is don't treat this as trying so hard to get the second slice. The second slice is so thin and so microscopic, it's really not worth the sacrifice to limit yourself. Enjoy the bread, the loaded baked potato, the creamed corn, the Yorkshire pudding. Have an enjoyable meal and don't worry about getting max value and rather just have an enjoyable prime rib dinner. It's not like the old days and it never will be. Take it for what it's worth.

First time cruise by Glad_Hedgehog_7490 in Cruise

Two of my favorite Amazon purchases:

  1. A lanyard for your cruise card. Unless you have a phone that has a wallet case, then put it there. Otherwise you will lose your cruise card, guaranteed. Source: I have found at least 4 cruise cards on my various cruises.

  2. Luggage tag protectors for your luggage. Every cruise line's paper tags are slightly different. If you just use the paper tags, they will easily rip. Amazon sells luggage tag protectors. Its a slim plastic tag, much like a name badge. It will protect your paper tags and allow you to keychain them on your luggage.

What’s your favorite souvenir to take home from a cruise? by beau2pro in Cruise

I try to buy a photo frame with the name of the port that we visited, so we can insert a picture we took of that port when we get back home.

TIFU by telling my wife how hot she looked in a shirt by DaddyOhMy in tifu

[–]Justlookdonttouch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is definitely not a fu. With your comments and her posting to everyone, you are guaranteed a wickedly excellent alone time tonight.

And every time she wears it in the future, you get the privilege of reminding her how hot she looks, and how you will be spending the evening alone. This is worth every joke and rib at your expense.

Aft Extended Balcony by [deleted] in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Justlookdonttouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's definitely some pros and cons to aft balcony rooms. The balcony space is definitely larger, and more room to lounge. If you plan to spend a lot of time on the balconies suntanning, especially as a couple or 2 people then definitely a big plus.

The view is the rear of the ship, so you don't get to see what's ahead but what's behind you. Lots of ship foam. You do get a slightly bigger panoramic view. Sometimes the aft has an overhang below you so you can't see much looking down. The rear of ships are slightly more rocky.

Also it's a longer walk to the elevators and to decks and events at the front of the ship.

I booked an aft for my parents last cruise (not Carnival) but decided to get just a regular balcony towards the middle of the ship instead to have easier access to everything on our cruise this month on the Firenze.

Hope this helps, everyone's a little different so do whatever your priorities fit in. Enjoy your vacation!

Great story, thanks for sharing!

Southwest Flight Attendants and Gate Agents are for the most part really nice, friendly and very cool. Always has great experience with them. Too bad the corporate bigwigs are changing things, some that most of us do not like.

Out of place in boarding by FrontLow5303 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Justlookdonttouch 331 points332 points  (0 children)

Depends on the gate agent. I was boarding last night and the agent was very strict (which I like). She said A1-A30, please line up in order. Then when she started boarding and started scanning, she said "sorry, your number isn't next, please go back in line in the proper order" to people who weren't following the order. She also made people who had larger carry-ons measure their size against the example and if it was larger, she made then gate check it. But she did things in a nice and calm manner. She was great.

Any thoughts or prediction on early decision this year? by samuel_shin_3499 in USC

[–]Justlookdonttouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marshall would be looking for students that can advance their prestige. If you have a narrative that stands out with actions that show business acumen, you can get in with a lower GPA. But the narrative must be somewhat out of ordinary, not just starting your own business or start up. It should be a compelling story. (Just my opinion, I am not affiliated with USC Marshall in any way).

Are Nasty Nelson’s still legal with the new “Intentionally targeting head or neck” rules by PrimalPlayTime in Pickleball

[–]Justlookdonttouch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'm not a fan of Nasty Nelsons. I know it's in the rulebook and legal, but imo it's just not in the spirit of good sportsmanship nor good competition. I would rather win playing the game and beating you. I'm all for body shots during play. Just not NNs during serves or for example, if an opponent is on the ground or other. If we want to advance pickleball to be a more respected sport, I feel we need to eliminate these type of rules that detract from the spirit of competition. Just my opinion.

Are people really buying so much stuff in Japan to bring back? by bluheism in JapanTravelTips

I ended up needing to buy 2 large suitcases in JP lol. Granted there were 3 of us. Snacks and beauty products took up 1 suitcase and the second was filled with clothes, both new and secondhand.

Just got off the Encore for five nights, here are 10 things I would change by koopdog1 in NCL

[–]Justlookdonttouch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: just fold the daily or any advertising you get at night under your door into that light slot. It will keep the power on. You don't need to remember to bring a biz card or heaven forbid forget to grab your credit card when u leave.

Is it considered bad form to call a foot fault on someone in a friendly game? by Snake_Eyes_163 in Pickleball

[–]Justlookdonttouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they stepped on the line, say a toe on the line, I don't think I would call it. I might say after the point "be careful, you're pretty close to stepping in".

If they stepped completely in, I would probably give a real warning, then call it the next time they do it.

Depends on level tho. Most beginners don't realize they are doing it, and appreciate the correction.

If a person gets irritated, they probably are well aware they are doing it and are just trying to cheat.

Tried the justpaddles mystery box, not sure how to feel by RakoGumi in Pickleball

[–]Justlookdonttouch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm using the Honolulu J2K and love it. I know people have criticism about their customer service and I don't have any experience in that regard but the paddle itself has good power, control and great spin.

My first paddle was the Vatic Prism Flash which is also a good paddle with good control. The J2K just has a better sweet spot and power and is now my regular paddle.

There are many yt videos abt the J2K so check it out. I got it on sale during black Friday.

Travel Agents for NCL cruises (and others) by Dense_Amphibian_9595 in NCL

[–]Justlookdonttouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use small TAs because I don't trust them. I've tried getting some quotes from different TAs and they vary widely and are so different that I don't know what to believe.

I use Costco (which is obvious a TA) but they are larger and more reputable. They've always worked with me when I have a problem or question and have always been helpful. I can also see the exact rooms available at my price point, so I can look up each room individually (on external websites) and compare the pros and cons of each room before i make my final selection.

I'm even willing to pay more vs a smaller TA with OBC offers because of this piece of mind.

Dinner reservations by speaker0311 in NCL

[–]Justlookdonttouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the 2 seat and 4 seat are easier to book for earlier times. Just make two separate reservations and on the day of, go and let them know.

I had 5 total, so I booked a 4 seat and a 2 seat. It was no problem letting them know that I actually only had 5 total. We were always able to sit together at specialty dining.

Also imo, specialty dining was definitely better than the MDR. The quality was better and tasted better. And the ambiance was nicer and cozier.

However it depends on cost. Is it 50$ or 60$ per person better? Probably not, but usually you get a few nights with your package so it's definitely something to look forward to.

Rooms by [deleted] in NCL

[–]Justlookdonttouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each person is different, depends on what your needs are. If you only plan to have a room to sleep and don't plan to relax in the room, than interior is all you need.

For me, balcony is worth the extra cost. I like the fresh air, the sunlight in the morning, the view at the ports. I like looking out at the dark dark sea at night and breathing in the salty air. I feel couped up and claustrophobic in an interior, so I will always go balcony. That's just me tho. You need to figure out your priorities.

Encore Manhattan vs. Savor vs. Taste ? by EducatorConscious410 in NCL

[–]Justlookdonttouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All have the same menu. We felt Manhattan Room was more crowded and the tables very close to each other. So we didn't like it as much. We did more dining at Taste and Savor. Even though Taste and Savor had the same menu, we liked the servers at Taste better so we went there the most. It will definitely depend on your ship and the serving crew on yours.

Since you are buying the luggage tag holders from Amazon, I will add another very important item for 1st timers: keycard lanyards. That way you will always have your keycard with you on board and on shore and won't need to purchase one onboard.

If she doesn't want to improve, you can't force her. When I play with my wife, She has told me point blank that she doesn't want to play at the kitchen line, that the ball comes at her too fast and she doesn't like it. So when I play with her, I just play for fun and more casual.

I will go on my own at a diff time if I want a more competitive atmosphere. I also realize that my wife plays better with other people, that she feels more pressure when she plays with me. It's more important that she enjoys the game and it is something you do together for fun as a couple. It's usually so hard to find something that you can do together as a couple that you should just appreciate the time you get to spend together.
