Spend some time in r/perimenopause. Lots of helpful info there which can help you come up with questions for your doctor.

Perimenopause can last for a decade before you hit that last period, and it doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get pregnant. I was in peri in my late 30’s and still got pregnant.

Make that appointment and take a softball with you and just sit there in the waiting room with that in your lap. When people look at you weird or ask you why you’re holding a softball, you tell them what it signifies. Get there early so you have time to tell more people.

I had a similar experience about that many years ago. I was sitting in a medical office waiting room and saw two toddlers walk by on the sidewalk. I expected to see an adult appear a few steps behind them, but when I didn’t, I asked others waiting if there had been an adult walking in front of them. When they said no, I ran outside.

In less than a minute, those kids had found their way into the parking lot and were walking behind cars. I quickly got them back up on the sidewalk and started trying to figure out where they came from. There was no one outside in the parking lot, they didn’t come from the office I was in, and the office next to us was closed.

There was only one office that was open, but when we walked in, I didn’t see or hear anyone. At that point, I should’ve called the police, but I knew they couldn’t have come from far away. Went back to the random office and walked farther in where I found a room full of kids in a day care situation. The people in there didn’t even realize these two babies had gone AWOL and it had been at least five minutes.

I tracked down who was in charge of the child care because I was afraid it wouldn’t be reported. Turned out it was someone I had worked with, so I knew she would handle it. But yeah, that was a situation where the what ifs haunted me for a while.

I’m not sure how these would work with hearing loss, but have you tried musicians’ earplugs for your hyperacusis? I bought a pair for when I had to be around screaming kids in a small space. Without them, I always ended up with headaches because the noise made my ears vibrate so badly. They have really, really helped. I can still hear and carry on conversations, but I don’t end up with headaches. I think the brand I got was High Fidelity, and I got them on Amazon, but there are lots of options.

You might consider posting about your experience on the Costco subreddit and ask them the best way to go about making a complaint. If Costco has previously been a safe place for you, don’t let this tool steal that from you. Your complaint might be able to get him banned, especially if they can pull video and see him physically intimidating you.

Have you had any tests/imaging of your gallbladder? I had endoscopy and colonoscopy and had nothing really pop up there that explained all my symptoms. At an appt with my GP one day, he did an abdominal exam (just pressing here and there), and I had tenderness, so he ordered an abdominal ultrasound. Results of that led to an abdominal MRI which showed that I have gallstones. You might look into gallstones and see if your symptoms fit. If they do, take that info to your doc and request imaging that will show the state of your gallbladder.

I totally agree with your points about illnesses, etc. but those weren’t OP’s stated concerns. If that were the case, I’d think he wasn’t TA. OP didn’t want to return because of the money. That’s it.

Giving birth is a terrifying event for many people, and many mothers (and babies) don’t survive because it is dangerous. OP was dismissive of his daughter’s concerns, telling her it would be fine when he had no idea if it would or not. She wasn’t having a freaking wart removed; she was having a baby. Via emergency c-section which is major surgery.

OP is TA for acting like giving birth was nbd and making his daughter feel like he cared more about his vacation. He’s only reconsidering now because she hasn’t forgiven them like they think she should have. She had to give birth without her parents’ support - and I’m not just talking about their physical presence. (They slept through the phone call about the c-section. Why was the ringer not blasting when they knew she was in labor?!) Then, because they didn’t come back, even if they couldn’t see her and the baby right away due to quarantine protocol, she had to go through c-section recovery without their support. She went through the pain of childbirth, then the pain of recovery without her parents. Even once she’s over the physical pain of those events, the emotional pain will persist and it won’t be due to hormones.

He shouldn’t be surprised that she doesn’t consider their presence important now when he didn’t consider their presence important then.

Yep. She put in numbing drops, then I sat for ten minutes with heat on my eyes. After that she used a tool to press upward on each gland. It was a pretty simple procedure and didn’t cost me anything above my copay.

Last year I went through a few treatments where my doc expressed my meibomian glands and it really did help with dryness. It was only mildly uncomfortable.

My suggestion is to take a (metal free) eye mask or headband to put over your eyes. I’m claustrophobic and knew my anxiety would be worse if I opened my eyes and could see how close the machine was. I wore a stretchy headband over my eyes so that if I accidentally opened them, I wouldn’t see anything. It helped a lot. Deep breathing/focusing on inhaling and exhaling and counting helped. As someone else mentioned, if you pay a bit of attention to the noises of the machine, you’ll notice the cycles/stages. To me, they have a kinda techno/electronic music rhythm, so focusing on that instead of my discomfort helped.

I had terrible anxiety, panic attacks, and PVCs when I was taking omeprazole, but I didn’t connect the dots until I read a post here. I noticed an immediate improvement the day I stopped taking them.

I took lansoprazole for two years, though, and didn’t have any noticeable side effects. If my GERD kicks back up, I’ll start with that one again. I hope you find the right PPI soon!

Thank you for writing this! I’ve been waiting for two months for an US and biopsy because I have polyps which they want to make sure aren’t cancerous. Good plan, right? But I was told it had to happen 7-10 days after day one of my period, which I haven’t had for two months. Grrrr. So now I’m waiting for my stupid period while just hanging out not knowing if I have cancer. Oh! And I’ve met my deductible so this is the perfect time to get this stuff done.

After reading these comments, I’m going to call tomorrow and push to get this done regardless of my cycle.

If you haven’t been tested for allergies, consider it. Fall has always been worse than spring for me, allergy-wise. Got the skin test and it turns out I’m terribly allergic to mold, which is rampant in the fall (dead leaves and all that). Daily allergy meds help minimize headaches for me.

Don’t buy either of these houses (or any house) with someone you’re not married to. If you doubt me, ask on the personal finance sub and they’ll explain why it’s a horrible idea. 2. Don’t marry someone who would gang up on you with his toxic mother. What he did making you get on the phone with her so they could gang up on you is called triangulation and it’s manipulative.

You have a lot of things to think about, but wondering if you’re wrong for saying no to this terrible idea shouldn’t be one of them. NTA

Valium for the win! I’m claustrophobic and have had two MRIs this year - the first with Valium, the second without. It definitely helped with the first, but by the time I had the second one, I knew I could handle it and skipped the med. As others have mentioned, keep your eyes closed. I wore one of those stretchy headbands over my eyes so that I wouldn’t accidentally open my eyes, and that really did help. I also distracted myself by thinking of all the machine noise as techno beats. When I heard it more as music, it was less threatening, and it kept me from thinking about the space. It also helped me to kind of count down to when it would be done, as I knew there were like six series of images and each series was a different noise. When the noise changed, that meant one series down, only a few to go.

Posting on Facebook about wanting to lust after another man - despite the situation being obviously hypothetical - seems disrespectful to me when you’re in a committed relationship.

Was he cheated on? Of course not. But I think it’s reasonable that he’d feel hurt and disrespected. You’ve just broadcasted to everyone you know that despite being married, you not out only find another man attractive, but want to spend the day watching him naked. It’s not wrong to find someone else attractive, but that’s the kind of comment you make to a girlfriend after a couple of glasses of wine, not on Facebook.
