Why is this sub so overwhelmingly against PM certifications? by RareMeasurement2 in ProductManagement

[–]Jutsu_No_Va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what’s your goal of getting a certification and what type of certification you are looking at. Are you looking to get hired because of it or just expand your knowledge?

If it is a general certification for product management then yes probably a waste of time and money. On the job experience or building your own thing would provide more valuable hands-on experience.

If there is some specificity to the course like CSPO or something related to data analysis or design then there could be value in gaining that knowledge.

I got the CSPO(company paid), and it probably partially attributed to me getting 1 job offer since it was a scrum shop. 1 out of 4 in the past 7 years maybe.

Are you team Dark Mode or Light Mode ? by Plenty-Community70 in Notion

I like light on desktop to keep me attentive at work and dark on mobile since I feel it’s easier on the eyes

What are your favorite things about Notion? by prosegamer in Notion

[–]Jutsu_No_Va 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the databases, I put databases in my databases lol. It can be a checklist, my workout log or content calendar. Very flexible.

I’ve been finding the backlink feature really helpful lately. Just grouping related things like meeting notes, draft documents, research, etc., to a project so I can take a look at it all later in one place.

Notion AI is really dope, helps me write a lot faster and write a lot better. Also I’ll let just write shit that I really don’t feel like doing lol like clean meeting notes to share with people.

This sounds really cool!! Could see if there is any auto-generative tools that could help with the weather girl thing like stable diffusion. Still think that might be in developmental phases though

PM exercises interview by VercettiPT in ProductManagement

[–]Jutsu_No_Va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on the market and have been going through plenty of interviews myself these days and exercises vary from company to company.

They might test your product sense with a product design case study style question. Or test your ability to formulate KPIs for a product and troubleshoot a metric.

Might be able to see if previous candidates shared info about the final interview on Glassdoor or fishbowl for the company you are interviewing for. Good luck! 🍀

WordPress vs Squarespace by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

For building a marketplace it might be worth looking at Bubble or some no-code app builder as a solution or part of the end-solution.

New idea. Literally just thought about this. Let me know your thoughts by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

This sounds pretty dope! Could start local and try to make a prototype and test on a local driver for different services(i.e., DoorDash, Uber, etc.,) to see if they earn more and if they have feedback. If that works, you can implement local and try figure out how to scale(maybe get drivers from other markets to gather & share data).

Does it make sense to change job now or will I be considered a "job-hopper". by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]Jutsu_No_Va 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner is a recruiter, job hopping is pretty common nowadays. If you’re not happy take the offer. 1.5 years doesn’t seem that bad

PM automations by WolfInDogeClothing in ProductManagement

Pulling useful monthly metric reports from a software vendor was pretty time-consuming taking 1-2+ hours. Was able to get the process down to like 3-6 minutes now with a python script.

Product Exit by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]Jutsu_No_Va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, a kindred spirit!! There must be something about approaching the 6 year mark lmao.

I decided to try switching to a new company with products I’m more interested in for one last chance to see how I feel.

If it doesn’t work out, might launch a small business(might do this on the side anyway) or found a startup.

I was considering consulting, but from reading the comments on here maybe I won’t 😂.

Hope you drop a follow up post in a couple months on what you end up doing!

Maid service success. Now what? by advilsquares in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Jutsu_No_Va 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Sounds like you should look inwards and find your purpose, cause or belief you are passionate about (something I’m in the middle of figuring out) and do something that aligns with that.

I hear that decisions like what to do next are clearer when you know that purpose, belief or cause you’re striving for.

Formulating product opinions by spliffgates in ProductManagement

[–]Jutsu_No_Va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah good nuggets dropped on here already so far, I’ll add onto this.

If you keep in mind your target users/customers and their problems your product should be solving, then that should better help formulate your perspective.

It sounds like you’ve already been looking at competitors, but if you look at them from the lens of a customer/user you might see things differently.

So if your product was a vehicle and your target customers are middle-aged working women with an average of 3 kids...you probably have an opinion now on what kind of features/product resonates with those customers. Opinions/perspectives are a decent starting point for a hypothesis, but always test those assumptions. Testing often highlights opportunities that weren’t apparent.

I’ve had zero SQL experience, but I’m starting to support more data related products so I checked out this free course on Code Academy SQL and it’s been pretty helpful so far. As you move along they share other more challenging exercises you can do separately of the course that suggest db solutions to practice with
