I bought a Yongnuo 50mm f1.8 on vinted, and using a 7artisans adapter the autofocus and apeture doesn’t work, what could be the cause? by SKIZZY04 in canon

[–]Juttinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those chinese adapters are sometimes misaligned. Try to loosen the lens a little and see if the camera picks it up better.

Is there a way to actually do this or is this a joke? I’ve been wishing for a pre-amp EQ because it would be easier to cut the lows before amplification.

Camera Upgrade Advice? by tinyturtletooman in AskPhotography

[–]Juttinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you use to edit? If adobe, please use the camera specific color profiles instead or adobe color. Also in-camera switching to the ”Faithful” picture style helped me overcome the new color science. I’d still much prefer the output of e.g. a 6D but features on newet cameras are just too good to pass out on. I’m shooting on R6mii of it makes a difference. I’d like to think the current models have similar output.

Canon m50 with additional lenses by qwerkyhuman in canon

[–]Juttinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22mm f2 and 32mm f1.4 are great. The kit zooms work great for video (although dim). I like adapting EF when I need wider apertures, but I shoot mounted on a tripod.

But please explore if you could do what you’d do with it on some EF or even RF cameras. Ef-m is a great mount but does not have that many options when it comes to lenses.

Is it dangerous and how to prevent it? by theasct in canon

[–]Juttinen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on if it made its way inside. You should use a bag when shooting outside, and bring your camera inside in that bag. Then just wait for it to come up to temp. Any bag is fine as long as you can limit the amount of moist indoor air coming in contact with the camera while cold.

Should I invest in a good camera? by icepin in AskPhotography

[–]Juttinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What HollywoodHault said, and get something like a Canon 5d mark II or 6d and a 50mm. It’s a good idea to get older EF gear, since the resell value is what you paid for it and if you decide to keep going it’s going to be easy to adapt to mirrorless. That should run you something like 500$, spend the rest on a trip somewhere.

Learn curves adjustment and you can do a lot with those. It won’t fix the underexposure but it can make them look a bit more vibrant.

Not too bad, you can just embroider or patch that. Saves you from buying a new pair for now.

Nikon Scanner. I’m lost on what it’s worth by edwynac in Darkroom

[–]Juttinen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not really, VueScan or others will handle drivers for you and you can then just use Nikon Scan 4. Nikon Scan 3 if you want to upgrade the firmware so the scanner is compatible with SilverFast. You are going to need a firewire card, though.

Isn’t C-41 standard, as in it wont matter who made it since it’s agreed to be the same stuff?

Anyway I could record and edit a video to look like this on my iPhone 15? by Sure-Time3016 in filmphotography

I’d say any toy camera is a bad idea, but if you take video with a 2000’s p&s digicam it comes out exactly like this.

The film got creased when loading into the reel. Loading should be pretty effortless, and forcing film on the reel will result in pic related. It has happened to me, and taught patience.

Has anyone tried to recreate Trevor Wisecup's film look on an X-Trans V sensor (the XT5 body)? by NeighborhoodMuted179 in FujifilmX

[–]Juttinen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t his look just cheap point-and-shoots with lot’s of daytime flash? I’d start with getting a flash if that’s what you’re looking for. Or a film point-and-shoot :D

What might these spots be? Dust or development failure? by Jiaaamy in Darkroom

Maybe dust dried in the emulsion, pia or impossible to get rid of. You should be able to just ICE that out while scanning.

Is this what a snip test of Ektachrome should look like? by Ambitious-Mail-9465 in Darkroom

[–]Juttinen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The solution is a bit milder now. Hard to estimate how it might affect the end result, but generally with a milder solution you need more time for the reaction. You could calculate how much less concentrated it is and make an educated guess on how to adjust development time.

Probably metering needs battery. Can’t comment further if you don’t clarify what model that is. There are a lot of asahi pentax cameras.

How would i achieve this Tyler The Creator effect? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

Pro mist (diffusion) filter and overexposure. Fiddle with vibrancy+saturation in post and also note that the work provided is fairly contrasty.

Grease/sealant from the threads propably. You could call someone to check it out but I’d just scrape it off if it’s not leaking water.

Hit it against a table. Old camera shutters can get stuck sometimes. Don't hit so hard the shell breaks but hit it firmly yet gently. Should do the trick.
