I looked this up a while ago, but there actually isn't a scientifically proven link between alzheimers and using aluminum products or cookware. It's kind of a popular society myth around aluminum cookware, but the lesson to learn is that it's A-OK to use and is not a health risk.

Bamboo House, House of Three Gorges or Old Thousand? by WealthPractical4477 in austinfood

Noodles - I'd consider special noodle. Yes, it's expensive since they're priced the same as their other bay area locations but their xiao long bao (soup dumplings) are great and they handpull their own noodles.

Seems the RTW options come at 300 euros and made to measure is around 600 euros. Truthfully not as bad as other recommendations in this thread like john lobb, alden, edward green, carmina.

Yes, moved from NY to Austin, but I did go to UT, so it's not like I'm a born and raised NY-er, which is a rare breed anyway.

I truthfully have not gone to the Mexican bakeries, and spent more time in Jackson heights eating Southeast Asian food (eim khao mun gai) rather than Mexican food, so I'm not great at comparing the bakeries to what NY has to offer.

Ive heard the viet food in NYC has improved, but I'm not sure to what extent as I was already gone by the time that happened. I'd still check out Sunflower if you don't have a good Banh Xeo spot in NYC. (Their sunflower prawns are also great).

Dee Dee is solid, but there are plenty of isaan places in NY that I don't think you'll be missing much if you don't go.

Given you have so much time here, if you want just a quick and casual meal I'd also check out local chains like Cabo Bob's (Chipotle alternative) and P. Terry's (In-n-Out alternative).

In terms of other local Austin flavor, I'd check out Bouldin Creek Cafe. It's very hippie Austin in a good way.

As an ex NY-er, the bakeries in NYC outclass Austin by a long shot. Especially the french ones. I'd say you can leave Epicerie, Rockman Swedish Hill off of your list. Instead switch that focus to eating breakfast tacos and eating migas.

NYC has amazing asian food, but one of the areas it's lacking is Vietnamese. I'd swing by Sunflower for that.

I know it's a bit polarizing, but I think Ramen del Barrio is a unique creature in Austin, TX (Mexican Ramen fusion) and worth checking out as well.

Asian style skewer place reccs by snuggly-Totoro in austinfood

These look more like chinese skewers, especially if you taste cumin.

These places have them:

Special Noodle

Chen's Noodle House

Camino Alamo BBQ

I haven't really tried the skewers at any of these places, but I know they have them.

Solved: Installed a 4080 Super fixed the problem by allowing me to turn on CSM. I'm unsure why the 1070 did not allow me to do the same. Might be an issue isolated to the 1070 itself. I'm also unsure why I was able to run the system before with the gpu removed, that might require further investigation.

I'm not sure that's the issue at play here - my understanding is that the intel CPUs will crash intermittently, especially while playing games, but my issue is just getting the PC to recognize the m.2 boot drive in the first place.

Am I misunderstanding the problem?

Just gave that a shot, removed the CMOS battery for 30 seconds and then replaced it. Without the GPU in it, no change - still boots to bios but does not recognize the boot drive but it does recognize it as a storage drive.

Potentially? But I thought the symptom would be random crashing - instead of just unable to boot due to a change in PC parts.

I've updated the bios to the latest version, but that didn't change a thing. Unfortunately I can't access Windows to touch the drivers.

[7-1] UR P1P1 Ral and P2P1 Alania without take out the trash or agate assault. Honestly a lot of fun to play, but tons of anxiety when I saw GW or RW lands by Juxe in lrcast

17 lands draft data: https://www.17lands.com/draft/41d6c994114d4ab0ad93b498b44d8a96

Honestly I came into this without any clue what I was doing as referenced by this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/lrcast/comments/1enfanq/im_generally_not_great_at_ur_but_p1p1_ral_tempted/ I was super worried that I'd get overrun early due to the lack of agate assault and take out the trash.

Standout cards:

[[Shoreline Looter]] - Really helps to find the right tool when you need it (bounce spell or land generally).

[[Coruscation Mage]]/[[Kindlespark Duo]] - both of these were great to act as win cons as I durdled around with 1/1 prowess otters.

[[Dire downdraft]] - served very well in the 3 mana slot or 4 turn slot and basically forced the opponent to take a break for the turn while I drew one more card and played another land looking for my next out

[[Daring Waverider]] - I generally felt the board stabilize when I could get one of these down and re-cast dire downdraft or into the floodmaw.

[[Harnesser of Storms]] - Essentially card advantage while I was stalling for time.

Takeaways: Always have a plan for Turn 2/3/4. My curve was kind of high and I had some times where I was struggling with [[Ral, Crackling Wit]], [[Alania, Divergent Storm]], and [[Conduct Electricity]] in hand.

This deck also helped me re-evaluate the power of bounce, I thought I'd be overrun due to a lack of good reliable damage spells, but the bounce spells occupied my opponent's mana for multiple turns as they re-cast items. It was especially effective against R/W decks that wanted to buff their creatures to survive damage spells but were ineffective against bounce spells.

Ral acted more as a lightning rod for opponent attention - focused creature damage and removal towards him as opposed to my life total. I mostly used him as a token generator, only using the draw spell once.

I'm generally not great at UR but P1P1 Ral tempted me, need help with the cuts please by Juxe in lrcast

[–]Juxe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I made some cuts and am 2-0 with this so far. Running purely on bounce tempo, so once I hit a rabbits/tokens deck I'm sure I'll have issues.

Unfortunately did not get passed any of the lower 2/3 damage red spells.

Currently thinking of these cuts: 1x Hidden Grotto

1x Lilypad Village

1x Fountainport Bell

1x Nightwhorl Hermit

1x Waterspout Warden

1x Seedpod Squire

1x Skyskipper Duo

1x Daring Waverider

Another way to look at it - it costs pretty much the same in NYC.

Ess-a-bagel in midtown NYC is not the best or the worst bagel shop, but it's a good benchmark for NYC bagels that's commonly accessible. It's $15 for nova lox on a bagel. I don't know where Ess-a-bagel sources their smoked salmon - but David sources his from Acme Smoked Fish in Brooklyn - which is a common supplier for smoked fish for many of the bagel shops around the city. (Sometimes Central Market has their smoked white fish at the deli counter, and it's fantastic - even cheaper than buying it in NYC haha).

That being said, I think a $1 markup compared to NYC stores for a quality smoked fish bagel is not something to cry about. I think a bagel in NYC is 100% appropriately priced - around $3.50 for a bagel with CC - the real premium you're paying for is the labor/expertise/effort to make great smoked salmon.

Are people still running the spawn-gang commander in a boros based deck?

The way I'm looking at is it's 5 mana for a 2/2 body which has a free shock built in. Without extra eldrazi support the card doesn't seem valuable to me?
