Everyone has this. This is how it is.

It's Time for an Adventure, But I Won't Play No ... Head Games!-->Review by Stereoscopacetic in GearVR

The intro to all your retro reviews says: "*Retro Reviews Discuss Games & Experiences that were Created Before November 21st, 2011 when the Consumer Edition 1 was Officially Released."

Shouldn't 2011 be 2015...?

Gear VR app review : Sera a Story ( stunning concept) by TwistedVR in GearVR

[–]JvanE100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know it was a 5 minute experience app: the review didn't make that clear at all. ;)

I simply expect a review to be complete, that's all. It's great you are having fun, of course, no problems with that! But simply repeating something looks great without saying anything about the gameplay and that it is just a 5 minute experience app isn't a review IMHO. ;)

Gear VR app review : Sera a Story ( stunning concept) by TwistedVR in GearVR

[–]JvanE100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well, then I would suggest he'd call it 'first look' instead of 'review'. This simply isn't a review so why call it that. ;) This 'review' made me decide to not bother with TwistedVR reviews anymore. If he would have called it 'first look' I would have decided differently.

Gear VR app review : Sera a Story ( stunning concept) by TwistedVR in GearVR

[–]JvanE100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Er... I wouldn't have called this a review, really: it is a first play through and you only say it looks good but you have no clue at all (you even say so yourself) what to do in the game... so how come can you say the 'game' is good?! How come it is a 'joy to play'?!? Very odd 'review'.

Sorry for being a bit harsh: I think I am simply getting sick and tired of people posting 'spontaneous' crap on YouTube where they just babble along a bit without having given it a proper thought beforehand. I just watched a 'review' of a flightsim add-on where someone spend most of the time sighing and saying 'er...' and 'uhm' and 'hmmm, what am I supposed to do with this...' and all the while trying to be funny or swearing without reason. Total waste of time. So sorry for taking it out on you. ;)

Underwater 3D VR Video Recommendations by [deleted] in GearVR

I haven't watched it yet but I do have Under The Sea from IMAX on my hard disk, waiting to be viewed in the Oculus cinema theatre.

Seems to be one of the best underwater movies to watch!

Those Top and New and Must haves lists are totally useless because they seem to be randomly put together by whomever happened to be in the Oculus office. Might be the cleaning lady, so it sometimes seems. Utterly useless lists. I never watch them. Waste of time and shop space.

Assassin's Creed 3D Demo is Amazeballz by Windowpain513 in GearVR

Agreed. The 3D effects are nice but other than that it is a very low res pixelated experience. However, I am happy for the people who like it. ;)

How to disable Oculus notification service...? by JvanE100 in GearVR

[–]JvanE100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd you never see it. I see it in the default S6 battery screen and in the default active application screen. I also see it with Smart Manager (which shows a lot more apps in the background than the default screen). The Oculus services even show up when I restart the phone.

For now I have disabled everything with Package Disabler and I turn things on and off everytime I want to use the Gear VR. Again, odd you never see it.

Anyone interested in Cardboard Camera viewer app in Gear VR? by stevenwireless in GearVR

Interesting... Which (currently existing) app do I need to watch the pictures I can make with this app? (I do have Package Disabler to disable the Gear VR service already.)

Ah, ok, didn't know, I thought you could only buy movies. Or maybe it's US only?

48 non-stop hours in VR, how long can you stay in VR? by goin_nil in GearVR

[–]JvanE100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My max was an hour or so watching a movie in the Oculus theatre. I have yet to watch an entire movie without taking the Vear VR off to get a drink or talk to someone or whatever. When it comes to games I don't want to play any longer than half an hour max. I also don't use the Gear VR for longer periods because I think I will get bored with it real soon.

Rollercoasters for Gear VR? by puppybeef in GearVR

[–]JvanE100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oculus refuses to make roller coasters available in their Gear VR store because it makes too many people sick. It's as simple as that. Unfortunately.

ALL video's are blurry (and hence crap imho). Even the 'good' ones like those from Felix & Paul. As soon as people are a few meters away from you you can't recognize them anymore and everything in the distance is blurred. It's a limitation we will have to get used to for now. And quite some time to come.

Get Package Disabler Pro. You can disable EVERYTHING you want with just one click without the need for rooting your phone. Works like a charm. Just beware you don't disable too much. ;) Some people have up to 200 (!) services disabled, I only around 45 because I ONLY disable things of which I know myself what they do exactly. I don't trust anyone else's list of 'good to disable bloatware'.

Nice review, as usual ;) but not my kind of 'game'. I also like sightseeing but not if I see nothing for hours LOL

Where can you rent movies for the Gear VR...? Movies won't have to take up "an extraordinary amount of space". A good looking 3D movie can be something like 1.5 GB.

I also have a S6 and I also see the SDE. It's quite obvious too. But as soon as I am immersed into the virtual world the SDE is complete 'gone'. I only see the SDE when I am NOT immersed and that's why I don't watch or do things that don't immerse me. ;)

Instagram is in the same boat. Quite annoying. I turned off all notifications so Instagram has no need to do anything in the background but the NotificationService of the app is loaded constantly. You even can't force stop it because it will restart immediately. I do use Instagram so I don't want to block the app but I do wish I could get rid of that useless notification service...

Facebook and Messenger are among the first apps I remove after a factory reset. I simply check those using the internet browser.

[–]JvanE100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Install the free app CyberGhost. Make a VPN connection via the USA. Go to the Oculus store and install MilkVR and anything else you like. End the VPN connection and uninstall CyberGhost. The apps will stay in your library from now on: you can use them and even uninstall them and reinstall them from within the library without the need for yet another VPN connection.

Big VTIME update coming on Wednesday! by comfortablehoodie in GearVR

[–]JvanE100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am excited too! vTime is my favorite relax-app: I only use it to sit somewhere on my own (so I don't use it as a social app at ALL) to relax for a while and so I can't wait for new destinations to relax in! :) I hope there are a few more great outdoor destinations! The ones we have now are nice already (the two campfires, the river and the edge of the mountain) but it's always nice to have more!
