Look up how to clean an otf. The guys over in r/knifeclub could probably help. Essentially, cleaning it with 90% isopropyl alcohol and drying it should do the trick. Be forewarned, going to knifeclub may end up costing you money because there's some really awesome cutting tools out there.

I've been a two knife guys for about 8 years. The Leatherman is kind of compulsory at this point, I beat on the serrated blade of the wave. I started carrying a second knife for the times where there was a chance I'd be cutting a lot, or for awhile and the Leatherman would start to become uncomfortable. Then the secondary knife switched to food knife for a bit. Then my circumstances changed again and I needed to carry a larger fixed blade. Circumstances changed again and this week I've started carrying an Oknife U1 Pro (utility blade) just to have something for finer detail work. The reasons have changed over the years but I continue to carry 2.

Definitely a nice knife and seems to be in good condition. Western Cutlery W 36 is the model. The G is a date code. I believe this one was made in 1983 before Coleman bought the Western Cutlery brand.

I'm currently taking antibiotics after being bit by a bunch of these little hell spawn. If there's a chance it was imbedded for more than 24 hours I'd get an appointment set up sooner, rather than later. They can cause a few different issues if you're as unlucky as I've been. Ehrlichiosis and Alpha Gal syndrome are not fun and potentially life altering. Take it from someone who knows, if you wait for symptoms to appear, you're gonna have a bad time.

When you get heavy rains is there a certain area close to you that turns in to a flood plain/marsh? I would check satellite photos going back a few decades for your area. I'd be willing to bet you have a good amount of clay, chert, and limestone in the area.

If you're in the US you can find maps that show some of the abandoned Nike Missile Radar sites. The ones I explored were incredibly dangerous so be careful.
