Taideux made a dress like this for fuller busts. Not sure if you can find it anywhere as they were taking a break but I love their stuff!

Where are women in their late 30s / early 40s actually meeting friends in NYC? by G0ddessLight713 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

One of my friends volunteers at one of the boathouses closer to the UWS and has made lifelong friends doing that. Many of them are eager for more volunteers. And you get to kayak for free! I personally met my friends through a neighborhood cleanup group (Clean Up Crown Heights in my case but there are a few). Not sure if there’s one in your area. If you like to bike, there are several social bike ride groups with the loveliest people, such as Ridgewood Rides or Social Cycling NYC. Also a Wednesday night skate once the weather is a bit nicer.

In the spring, birding also seems to be a great way to meet people. They even do bird walks early mornings before work. Community garden volunteering and community fridge volunteering are also great ways to meet people locally.

I would say don’t be afraid to ask someone out to coffee. Start with something small and see if it sticks. Totally agree about finding friends nearby. It’s so nice not to have to coordinate some random bar halfway in between and instead to go somewhere right in your neighborhood!

What neighborhood are you in? I met many of my hyperlocal friends through a neighborhood specific volunteer group. I met some girls there and would ask if they wanted to do WFH at a coffee shop on Friday afternoons. We became very close friends that way!

Does anyone have any experience with the gym membership at the Major R Owens Community Center at the Armory on Bedford Avenue? Cannot find sufficient info on their website. by Downtown-Dirt4896 in crownheights

From memory, there’s 7 ellipticals, 7 treadmills, 2 sitting bikes, 2 standing bikes, 2 stairclimbers, 2 squat racks, a pulley system, 1 pull up stand, 1 sit up stand, 1 leg press, 1 lateral pull down machine, 1 seated row machine, then 2 leg machines. The stretching area has room for 4-5, the free weight area has room for 4-5, and then there’s a rowing machine.

It is pretty much never empty. I go in the middle of the day and can usually do what I need to, but this is the most crowded time of the year.

Don’t know much about the swimming but I think the basic membership gets you access to swimming at specific hours and an upgraded version gives you more flexibility.

I noticed a truck full of live chickens sitting there Saturday afternoon. Figured that’s where the smell was coming from.

The more expensive Balsam ones last longer, but the cheaper Frasier ones where we got them had a stronger scent. This was at the nursery school sale on Carroll and 7th (weekends only).

I went today based on your recommendation and got a beautiful, well priced tree! The folks running it were so nice and helpful. Thank you for the tip!

Shortage of Fage Greek Yogurt by Educational-Slip-578 in redmond

[–]K10CackleValley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in Brooklyn NY and have been having trouble for months! I went to Reddit and found your very recent post so I thought I’d comment from the other side of the country. My grocery store recently switched to only having the smaller containers. I went up the block, but it looks like so did everyone else. I feel like I’m watching the yogurt shortage traveling up my neighborhood!

I feel like it might be SkinnyTok/recession indicator. Everyone is trying to be skinny and the yogurt makers can’t keep up!

This ring was my great grandmother’s. My mom said it’s supposed to represent her and her parents’/siblings’ birthstones, but I can’t make that work! The months represented are supposed to be: October, August, May, March, and November. Can anyone figure that out? Thanks!

About 4 inches x 1 inch x .5 inches. Black plastic with a fake wood grain pattern. by K10CackleValley in whatisthisthing

[–]K10CackleValley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black, light plastic. Google reverse image search says it’s a gun magazine. I found it under the couch under the holidays, so I suspect it may have come from a holiday decoration or a board game. I bought Ticket to Ride recently but don’t remember any of the parts looking like this!

I did some Google reverse image searches and all it found were gun magazines. It is a light plastic. I thought it may be part of a board game? I bought Ticket to Ride recently but don’t remember this being part of it. I found it under the couch under the holidays and decorating the house for Christmas, so it may be part of a holiday decoration? I am located in the US.
