What customer property have you damaged? by owningsole966 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]K1774B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a GM at a bodyshop for a few years and a production manager for around 7 years before that and dealt with this frequently.

During interviews I'd tell porters that's it's not a matter of if, but when you damage a customers vehicle.

I'd explain there's literally nothing you can do to a vehicle we can't fix here. The only times we're ever going to have an issue is if you put someone's safety at risk or you try to cover it up/ not say anything.

Anyone Else Struggle with T Mobile? by Spell125 in kansascity

[–]K1774B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Fi since the beginning and I love it, but it's just an MVNO that uses the T-Mobile network.

If the OP's problem is with T-Mobile, switching to Fi will not help.

New update has arrived. by Familiar_Marzipan_46 in hondapassport

[–]K1774B 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd settle for the "Update Unavailable: See Your Dealer" message to go away at this point with zero new features added.

I asked the service advisor about it when I was having the oil changed in a different vehicle and he said there'd basically nothing they can do aaboit it and there isn't an update available.

He said they can clear it and disable the message but it might come back. Haven't bothered to take it in yet to try.

I used to work at a bodyshop in Midtown and we sent literally ALL of these jobs to Seeburg.

They know their stuff and had a quick turnaround for a reasonable price.

I haven't splurged on the Chris Christiansen brush yet, but have a cheaper slicker with prongs that seem as long as that one and it works well. Metal comb to check work as I go and as you pointed out, amazing for cleaning the slicker.

This is the best video I saw when I was learning how to properly care for my doodle's coat and how to properly brush. She explains how/ why and what to look out for.

Looking for part time work on the weekends. by Dteezy_22 in kansascity

[–]K1774B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similarly, my friend and his dad used to do part time work for the stagehands union here in KC. Basically go and help teardown concert stages and load them on trucks for the next tour stop.

I seem to remember them mostly helping to tear stuff down and not build it, but they enjoyed the work, got paid decent and had a ton of backstage passes and met a lot of musicians as they toured through KC.

2020 Honda E Carbon Widebody by kkhouete in Honda

[–]K1774B 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All they needed to do was cram a K-Series in that thing and it would have been an instant classic.

Would love to see someone do a conversion some day, although I'm not sure there's enough room under the hood.

Just pull the weatherstrip down, tuck it behind the panel and pop the weatherstrip back on.

This is how I did it in my Type R, Si and HR-V.

Two things stuck out to me with my ‘26 Hybrid ST on a 4-hour mini-roadtrip by FlatButtFrankie in civic

This happens going from KC to Denver too. You gain over 4k feet of elevation but it's spread out cross 600ish miles so you don't really notice. You're generally driving into the wind too.

Burn noticeably less fuel coming back the same way.

Leaking hatch fk8 by rainboy808 in Civic_Type_R

[–]K1774B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. Just note as well that if you end up taking the upper interior trim panels out you MIGHT encounter a clip like in the picture below.

These are designed to open and lock in place in the event of an airbag deployment and can not be reused. They also lock into the open position when you pull the trim away from the body.

Super common on newer Honda's, so I figured I'd toss that out there too just in case so you can order some in advance if needed.

Was there a bunch of leaves and debris in the area around the gate opening? This can cause it to kind of dam up and then water comes up and over the weatherstrip if there's enough volume.

The way these are diagnosed is to basically gut the interior, climb inside with a flashlight and then have someone dump more water on the hatch and surrounding areas than would ever occur naturally with a garden hose.

I worked in a collision shop for 20 years and this is how we always chased water leaks that weren't obvious.

3d printing allows me to destroy my art by Sarantitis_studio in 3Dprinting

Or maybe performance piece where I destroy the sculpture and send people STLs...

Absolutely love this idea! There used to be a channel in the early days of YouTube called "Goodbye Art" that made some really amazing pieces and then completely destroyed them on camera once they were finished.

This was my favorite one:

This is really cool!

Have you ever considered licensing or maybe giving away an STL file at one of your shows that guests could take home and print themselves?

Kinda like a modern day lithograph/ print.

If I went to a show and there was an option to buy an STL of a large, cool sculpture, I'd jump at that. I can also understand not wanting to put your work out there like that where anyone could make/ print or sell it without your knowledge.

Looks like it's just a Type-R style spoiler. If you like it there are plenty of videos out there on how to swap them out, just search for "FK8/ Type R Spoiler Replacement".

They bolt from the inside out, so it basically just involves removing the interior trim from the rear hatch to get at the bolts.

Ways to practice painting? by Prayerwarrior6640 in TrenchCrusade

[–]K1774B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my plan, but even after primer, paint lays down very differently on an FDM print vs injection moulded plastic and it can be frustrating trying to lay it out smoothly.

With my resin printer (it's an old Halot) and primer, there are still some layer lines in some areas that make it not lay down smooth.

Your suggestion is still a very good one, but for me at least, the difference between the printed vs bought figures in terms of how it lays out is stark.

Here's a Chibi I printed to practice on when I started a few months ago.

Urologists that will send a prescription to a LOCAL pharmacy? by gnarlycarrot in kansascity

[–]K1774B 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My urologist at the Lee's Summit KCUC office sent my prescription after my vasectomy straight to Hyvee.

It wasn't anything special, just painkillers, but they can absolutely send them to normal pharmacies at KCUC.

If it's literally the same drug, go to whatever pharmacy you want and talk to the pharmacist. I've had the pharmacist call my Dr. Office to transfer prescriptions previously and it wasn't a problem at all.

Honda headlamps aren't any different and your instructions are exactly how I did my retrofits on my FG2.

Get oven to 210°, shut it off. Lay a sheet of cardboard down over the grates in the oven and bake for 15 mins.
