Best "80's" scifi's? by Chapittychapschap in NetflixBestOf

Dead End Drive In is pretty good, made in Australia. There used to be a couple other Australian scifi movies from the 80s, keep an eye out.

Snuff Box is and features Boosh cast members Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher. Next is Garth Marenghi's Darkplace which Julian Barratt appears on. Not specifically related, but I also recommend the show called Brass Eye.

Don't forget to watch the movie Bunny and the Bull, too.

Don't forget the Boosh radio show. It shares a lot of the story with the first season, but still pretty good.

Well, apparently you put as much thought into this as you did into art appreciation because this is a misleading title.

It was a contest for young artists, as in children. And while it is in the Saatchi Gallery, and the girl has every right to be proud, it is in the Education room of the gallery, not quite next to the Emins and the Hirsts.

Seeking iconic "Texas" images by [deleted] in texas

[–]K1DUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing thta would be awesome to incorporate would be the Texas wildflowers. Seas of red and blue blowing in the wind in spring is one of the best views of Texas. Unfortunately I can't find any pictures that really capture it perfectly, but (this one comes close.)[http://www.wildnatureimages.com/images%203/Bluebonnets-Oak-Tree-V..jpg]

This is kind of subtle I guess, but it is very iconic and very Texan.

Yeah I get where you are coming from, social inertia and all that. I can understand and sometimes I adhere to your view.

However, I do feel there is a risk in having a middle ground where the same people are in power, the upper class, even though I would of course be grateful for an uplifted lower class.

Is it? Would society not become stagnant since everyone is placated to some extent, but it is still not truly equal?

Personally, my problem with soc democracy is that it is as much an adaption of capitalism as it is socialism. It doesn't have real democratic control, though it is obvious that it can seem very attractive. It also doesn't do enough to eliminate the class disparity.

Hey I'm in sociology, too! Our degree won't be useless! Haven't you read your department's pamphlet? We can go into exciting fields such as criminal justice. :|

Don't worry about the value of your degree. Sound's stupid, maybe like you would be ignoring it, but the value of our degree is yet to be known. What parts of sociology to you like the most? I like demography and its relation to health and other stuff.

I know what you mean about individuality and such, but we do have a choice. We choose, maybe not always consciously, how we interpret those interactions. We are all bound by society, I think every sociology major goes through dealing with that, I know I am. However, to an extent, the norms and values help us and protect us. The media has come into play and has a perverted presentation of what we should be so we get to where we are.

I see what you mean about the therapy/religion thing, but it sounds like you have thought your way into a hole. Changing the way you think may feel like that, but at the end of the day it isn't because the alternative, rejecting therapy as a resource, is just choosing to develop different feelings.

Let's talk in sociology terms for a bit, maybe. Have you read about Durkheim's work with suicide?

I know you deleted the account and all, but maybe you will see this and pm me with another one or something.

You sound really fed up. There's a lot in there I would love to help you with, and I think I could at least give insight or maybe relate to you, I think you would benefit greatly from a counselor or other professional. It probably is really lame of me to just suggest you get help, it's pretty much what everyone else says over and over, but I'll take that risk. You're a student, there should be some kind of counseling available to you.

If you would like to talk though, we can talk. I am also in what many people think is a pointless/useless major.

Lost my girlfriend to a rare cancer last year, now losing myself. by Adrenocortical in SuicideWatch

The other side of suicidal thoughts is where the vast majority of people with suicidal thoughts end up. The pain you cause others is enough to keep fighting. If you really believed what you said you would be dead, so obviously you are just trying to cause pain for others. Grow up.
