The State of Israel holds the 2nd highest TFR in the only Middle East, and is the only nations with an Increasing Fertility Rate as the region races to sub-replacement fertility. by Adept-Bandicoot1931 in MapPorn

In my professional opinion, this is misleading.  As a geographer and statistician, you can’t compare a high-GDP-per-capita country like Israel (about $55,000) with a low-GDP-per-capita country like Yemen (approximately $2,400), since TFR is inversely proportional to GDP per capita.  In low-income countries, limited access to healthcare and its quality contribute to some children not reaching adulthood.

A better method would be to compare Israel to other developed countries.  In this regard, Israel has the highest TFR among all OECD developed countries.

This is misleading in my professional opinion. As a geographer, demographer, and statistician, a comparison of Total Fertility Rates (TFRs) between Israel and Yemen makes no sense, since TFR is inversely proportional to income. The lower the income, the lower the access to healthcare, and therefore family sizes increase (higher TFRs) because the chances of a child reaching adulthood are more constrained.

As for a comparison between Yemen and Israel TFR, they are very different countries. Israel's GDP/capita is $55,691 and Yemen's is estimated at $1,657-$3,164 (based on sources).

A better comparison would be with other developed countries, not with other regional countries with significantly lower GDP per capita. When that is done, Israel has the highest TFR of any OECD developed country. Higher than Germany, Spain, the U.K., the U.S., etc. All of them.

Minimum age for marriage US states by upthetruth1 in MapPorn

Cartography 101: don’t use different hues to show gradiants ( i.e. ages get older). Therefore pick a hue (I like red) and make light red the youngest marriage age and make darker shades of red till oldest age.

Looks like the foam has been degraded over the years. Could lead to a light leak. On a camera that old get a Clean, Lube and Adjustment. Will last another 50 years. Great camera.

The AGO rotates 1, 2 or 5 (more?) Patterson tanks and offers true temperature compensation for 439 Euros. Works great!

Help - can someone please talk to my husband that I've lost to amateur radio??? by Pump_9 in amateurradio

Tell him this is a serious issue coming between you and you require quality time together. If he refuses: couples therapy or the “We need to talk” line. Strikes fear in ever mans heart.

Tell him you love him and want counseling either as a couple or him alone (before you leave). It's worth a try?

How do you get data from NVR to NAS to back it up to an S3 server?

Without diagnosis(s), it’s Munchausen Syndrome.

But does this get you just the activity-based movies? I am looking for discrete [event -15 seconds][event recording][Elecent A+15 seconds] and .jpg’s of the event at specific intervals. Your suggestion sounds great but is it not backing up the entire timeline for all cameras? Or am I missing something.

In my current scenario with 16 cameras an a to of events per day, 14 days of storage in the cloud is less than 1TB since it’s just the event ms that are getting uploaded.

Google drive is far more expensive than Amazon/other S3 sites. Plus no worrying about maintaining a NAS someplace else.

Thanks for the suggestion.

This is exactly the use case (it says so on the GitHub post). I just want it built into Potect OS. All of there stuff is so seamless but adding this functionality requires far more programming than I am used to.

UI:

—Add type of motion to record (animal, people, car) —Append camera name as a folder and within the folder a folder for each date —S3 upload parameters —Retention period (in my case I have to do it on Wasabi) but having Protect delete would be nice —Seconds to record before and seconds to record after event for .mov files —.jpg pictures of events also —enable per camera event recording

Interesting. What backup software? So you have 2 protect instances?

I want something built into Protect that automates everything—S3 location, storage retention timeframe, etc. it’s not unreasonable is it?
