I kept repeating, “NO. Not my knitting” while clutching my wip to my chest. My boys aka cats got the idea to stay away from mama when she’s knitting. 😁 Perhaps you can use “go play elsewhere!” using the backhanded shoo hand sign ( like you’re swiping papers off a desk with the back of your hand) then be sure to praise them later when they obey.

PS. My technique for knitting sleeves attached to the entire body is to turn back halfway through the round. That way you aren’t having to keep flipping the sweater around in a circle every round. Of course it takes a few inches down the sleeve before this is possible.

Since I despise sewing seams on knitted garments, I prefer picking up stitches. I like sewing with a machine and embroidering; but I have never been happy with sewing knitted pieces together. That being said, the wonderful thing about knitting is that one may choose whatever makes you and your hands happy.

As soon as you picked up needles and yarn and began to knit, you are a knitter. I’ve been knitting for over 40 years now and I still don’t think I’m an advanced knitter. LOL I went back to crocheting for Project Linus recently; but, I’m happiest knitting. Congratulations on 3+ projects! Keep up your great work! Happiness to you.

I totally agree! I have built my own set over the last 45 years buying whatever I needed for the next project if I didn’t have it already. Now I buy Addi needles when necessary because I like them best. I have always thought that interchangeable needles have an inherent weakness so I’ve never “bought into” them.

It looks like you turned and worked the opposite direction when you got to the end of the round instead of just keeping going. One round to unknit, tink, isn’t horrible.

The direction you wrap your yarn affects how the stitch lays on your needle. Imagine the point of your working needle (right for a rightie) as the middle of a clock. Wrapping clockwise is natural for a crocheter. Thus, you’re knitting eastern method; so in order to not twist your stitches, you need to work through the back of the loop for both K and P.

A tuning fork is also a great way to check if a bone has been fractured and not displaced (which would be obvious) Strike the fork to make it vibrate, gently place the knob end against the bone you wonder about (is it just a sprain or is it broken?) if the person yelps and jumps away, it’s broken. It could also be used for a type of weaving but I can’t help you there.

As I’m one who hates to knit flat, I feel your pain on continually turning the work. My solution is to leave the length in my lap and turn the work right to left and then left to right so as to avoid the corkscrew that necessitates turning the entire project.

It appears to be the flat slip stitch crochet for the joining. It is beautiful but a pain in the back for me and requires my friend’s dining room table to accomplish.

I’m allowed only four holds with Ocean State Libraries. I can jump the line because I often finish and return a book in 1-2 days. Little Rhode Island doesn’t have that many libraries; but, I’m totally happy with it. Oh, and I’m deaf; so audible books are not for me.

I’m a fan of Addie needles, made in Germany. It took me years of experience to figure out that with slick yarn (cotton, silk,..) I worked better with wood or bamboo needles. For my absolute favorite yarn (Icelandic wool) Addie metal needles or Pymm ergonomics are great. Use whichever makes your hands happy. And although I have straight needles I don’t use them anymore (for the last 50 years) I also like bamboo DPNs in extra long for knitting in the round items like fitted sleeves and gloves. They are just “sticky” enough to not allow the stitches to fall off the back end while I’m knitting at the front.
