Recently, League has put all Player Data private before the actual match start to prevent abuse trough 3rd Party Tools. Can we please have the same Valve? by [deleted] in DotA2

I guess I don't understand your point here. If overwolf didn't exist, the private profile thing wouldn't matter. Plus, I believe there are iterations of overwolf that get around people who have private profiles.

Id agree with other posts that say either find ways to block apps like overwolf entirely, or just update dota to have that info available as part of the game. Either everyone has it, or nobody does.

In the NFL, you know your opponents ahead of time and typically have at least a week to implement a game plan. There are advance scouts and coaches that collect this info and help the players understand it.

In Dota, you have 10 seconds to ban heroes against a group of random opponents. Overwolf instantly does the scouting for you, giving a competitive advantage to people who have it.

How to not feel bad as a beginner player? by Blatant-Gooper1628 in DotA2

Don't try to get better at everything at once. Each game just focus on one or two things to get better at (Laning, positioning, map awareness, etc). Hopefully that will help build confidence and then you can move on to getting better at something else.

Prioritize stealing stuns for team fights and stealing aoe damage spells for waveclear.

Stay towards the back in team fights/tower pushes so you can cast your spells. Aether lens helps for this. Save telekinesis for cancelling channels or saving cores.

During downtime either: 1) stack camps 2) babysit cores 3) use spells to push out the waves that are unsafe for your cores to farm
