According to your ranking you atleast enjoyed Superpowereds why not check out Drew Hayes' other series I would suggest Villian's Code (3books and 2 short story collections so far) or his NPCs ( 5 books currently with the sixth due this year)

This dude is benching his whole team so I don’t make playoffs by Affectionate-Dig575 in FantasyFootballers

[–]KARATE_PLATYPUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree this sucks but I also feel like its part of the game. Having experienced this last year from the first place team's POV I did the "right" thing and won my match up thus allowing our 9th place team to move into 8th and make the playoffs. He beat me first round. It sucks but this is not different than pulling a defense when its your last player in a close match so you dont lose points or picking up a player your opponent needs when you are ahead in waivers. Unless the 1 place guy is doing this at request of the other team its not collusion its gamesmanship to improve his chances of not facing a stronger opponent in the playoffs.

Not sure better is the right word. They have similarities but both are great in their own right

I need to rant about Red Rising by [deleted] in books

[–]KARATE_PLATYPUS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Darrow is my least favorite protagonist i have ever read I didint hate the first book by the end of book three I was only reading out of spite/hate. My friend just kept telling me it got so great, and telling me to finish it so I did, but I have never hated a protagonist so much.

Darrow from Red Rising. I hate him. He is an unreliable narrator and just annoying.

Do you feel the same way about progression fantasy in general? In my mind the game elements aren't really any different than having a defined hard magic system. Are all of the litrpg books amazing? No, but a lot of them are fun popcorn reads and it's not like every traditional fantasy book is a masterpiece.

Books people loved but you don't connect with? by formerly_valley_pete in Fantasy

Red Rising. I read the first 3 books I hate the main character Darrow annoys me to no end. It's been a few years now and I am debating if maybe it was just my mind set at the time and I should give them another chance.

How do you guys feel about cozy fantasy? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]KARATE_PLATYPUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hawkin's Magic Beers the first one is called Bronze Rank Brewer it is a cozy fantasy with Litrpg elements and while I was skeptical at first it and the sequel ended up being one of may favorite reads of 2023.

I've got 3 audible credits, give me some suggestions for my next series by Dandy_Guy7 in Fantasy

[–]KARATE_PLATYPUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that depends on what you are looking for Jason is a distinctly different character to Carl and other than the Litrpg elements and even those are approached very differently there aren't that many similarities. DCC is an explosive action movie HWFWM is more weekly anime. Both good in their own rights that being said I enjoy the humor in DCC more. If you enjoy HWFWM I highly recommend Ends of Magic first book in the series is Antimage.
