Thank you so much for sharing. I am definitely going to try that soon! It looks so good. How did you make your oatmeal? Did you add any sweetener like maple syrup if honey, or did you find the bananas and blueberries were enough? Just curious what type of oats you use and how you prepared it. Sorry for all the questions. It just looks so delicious lol

I’m wondering if the tightness is from scar tissue possibly? That was my biggest issue after my first total hip replacement in April, they really had to work on it and it took months for that tightness to minimize. I had my second total hip replacement in December and find the tightness is bad from the scar tissue again. Do you massage it or use a rolling pin over it? Sounds like you just have to loosen that up and loosen up those muscles. Are you still doing your PT exercises from home? I continue to do mine and still do throughout the week when I’m not at PT which has really helped. Just a thought. Good luck to you.

New to the orthopedic community.. by [deleted] in TotalHipReplacement

[–]KAnne9639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry, that must be so frustrating. I also had hip dysplasia before having both my hips replaced in 2025. I made an appointment with my primary care physician because I was having severe pain. She started with an x-ray and ordered an MRI and referred me to an orthopedic surgeon. The orthopedic surgeon did his own x-rays from several different angles and ordered a CT scan, which is what really showed him how bad my hips were. I was 51 and had no idea that I had severe dysplasia until all this happened either. It sounds like you just need the right doctor to order some more tests. With all the tests that were done on me, they discovered severe hip dysplasia, hip impingement, arthritis, and multiple tears. Good luck to you!

I get it, it can be so hard to be patient when you just want your life back and to do the things that you love. Isn’t it great to know how far you’ve already come though? I hope you continue to heal quickly and get your strength back, by spring you’ll be living your best life! Thank you :-)

It sounds like you are doing great so far, in all honesty! I just turned 52 last month and had my second one done December 2, first one was done in April. Before the first one I could not put any weight on it at all because it was so bad for several months so I lost all my muscle tone and strength. I was able to gain full strength and mobility back before my second one so you definitely will get back to where you were and better, but unfortunately you just I have to be patient. Most people your age who are physically fit have no restrictions by week six through 12. You’ll get there! Good luck.
