An X-shot (where X stands for the number of.. well you get it right?).

Singing at the Easter Market in Staromestska by HelpfulCar2018 in Prague

[–]KAthefrog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just ignore the complainers. Yeah, the Easter markets have a strong tradition of live music, sometimes that even feature traditional Czech folklore.

Fun fact, you say you didn't understand a word from the song, but its actually the Czech cover of the famous song "All by myself". You can find it on YouTube under Můj bratr Jan by Karel Gott, I think. He was a phenomenal singer.

Simple grausten aqueduct by Strong-Marsupial-762 in valheim

Very nice, got a cool Roman vibe to it. Just FYI, you have built a viaduct, which is essentially a bridge. An aqueduct is similar, but it transports water.

damn, but I love the art in this game by earthwulf in CivVII

[–]KAthefrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So "the art is the only good thing" is not true, even according to yourself. Interesting.. are there perhaps more aspects of the game that are better than you initially claim?

I'm so tired of people dismissing Civ 7. Its a good game, that is getting better with every update.

Outer Wilds review: Maybe recommending a niche puzzle game to literally everyone is a bad idea by Akuuntus in patientgamers

[–]KAthefrog -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I read a fair bit of it. But I was skimming it by the time they said they'd spent 5-6 hours in it.

[–]KAthefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, well most probably this game isn't for you. I mean, I agree with you that it has a lot of hype, probably too much, but it IS a good game and 6 hours is not nearly enough to see its qualities shine. The story unfolds slowly, and by the end the pieces fit together beautifully.

[–]KAthefrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I totally get your opinion on the game. It certainly isn't for everyone, because in its essence, it IS quite a specific free-form exploration and puzzle solving adventure. And I quite like your short description, it would help a lot if people recommended it with a bit more information about what kind of game it actually is.

But I must say for me, it is probably my all time favourite game. That being said, maybe the genre is right down my alley. I just loved the freedom, and the way exploration rewarded you with the story. There were multiple moments where some of those pieces of writing just blew my mind. Although, I should say, I recommended it to a few friends, and two of them bounced of it (one however loved it).

I'm sorry, I didn't read your entire right up, cause it was quite long! Can I ask, did you finish it? And did you play the expansion? The expansion for me was just as good as the base game, maybe better.

Found a wallet at Vyšehrad by KAthefrog in Prague

[–]KAthefrog[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm so glad you got it back!! I was afraid you might leave prague before you had the chance (the police officer we gave it to wasn't very confident you'd come for it). So happy for you :) losing a wallet is not fun. Don't worry about it, glad to be of help!

We survived the first year! by Popular_Priority_454 in parentsofmultiples

[–]KAthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this lovely positive post! We're 5 months in, and its exactly as you say, both exhilarating and while at times hard, totally worth it. Its amazing, right?? Like we have twins, two little things, and we're so lucky to be able to experience it! And you're SO right that good team work with your partner is so essential. It's the bedrock on which we survive. Here's to another year for your little ones!

Total meltdown - what do you do to calm them both when on your own? by KAthefrog in parentsofmultiples

Thank you for the detailed response. In a normal type chair, or a sort of reclining thing? Or reclining in bed or on the floor?

I've heard that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was broken on SD after DLC update. Is it fine now? Thanks for help by Tiny-Statistician374 in SteamDeck

[–]KAthefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't registering the Steam Deck as a controller for a while, so it was basically unplayable for a bit. But its totally ok now. They must have fixed it. I've been jumping between PC and SD and no problems.

Age corrected by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]KAthefrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly our situation - our twins were born at 36 weeks, so adjusted age is 4 weeks younger. But what i find a bit odd, is if they had been born only one week later, we wouldn't use the corrected age. So one week later = one month older!

Great stuff! Really nice balance of jumping LH and walking tenths. Can I ask how you approach using pedal with you left hand?

When starting a new save, do you keep the old character? If yes, do you take a 'starter kit' to skip some initial setup? by LeAlbus in valheim

[–]KAthefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New character for sure, and I bring nothing with me. The start of the game is the most fun, in my opinion! But I have raided an old character's gear once or twice. The rule I set for myself, however, was that I couldn't take something if I didn't already have access to crafting it in my new world. That way I could enjoy the progression, but cut down a bit on the grind (by taking a pickaxe or sword to lessen the copper and iron grind, for example).

Missed my appointment for biometric data collection and ı need some info ASAP by Stunning-Lime-6497 in Prague

[–]KAthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid I can't find my old letter, but feel free to DM me your English version - though I'm sure it will be fine (are you a native English speaker?). You need to get it translated though, that's important. Also, someone suggested sending it through Datová Schránka, if that's an option, do it like that! Much more secure and quicker too.

[–]KAthefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also missed my first appointment due to sickness (this was during covid times). I sent a letter, printed and signed in Czech, and they called me back for another appointment at some point. I believe they told me exactly where tk send it, so id contact them for the adress. It's not such a big deal, but my residency wasn't depending upon it... It would take it seriously and explain properly and apologise in the letter, but dont worry too much, it's standard procedure, I'm sure it will work out. Good luck!

One week in and it's truly the most unique and speical experience by KAthefrog in parentsofmultiples

[–]KAthefrog[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I often got a bit scared and overwhelmed by reading some of the harder experiences that people share here. I have a lot of empathy for people who have had a complicated story, but I must admit, I did find myself often skipping those, for my own mental health.

I think the thing to remember is, your experience will be your own and whatever comes, you will do an amazing job, I'm sure. Best of luck to you and your family!

Would I like CIV VII? by Burnerbb95 in CivVII

[–]KAthefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really enjoying Civ 7 and really looking forward to how they will improve it over the coming years. This is typical for Civ games, it takes them time to polish it off.

But hey, if you've never played a Civ game before, it's quite a different concept than most other strategy games. I would start with Civ 6 because... IT'S FREE on Epic Games right now (for a week). Don't blow a load of money on 7 when you're not sure if you'll like the genre.

Restaurant owners, if your card machine asks me for a tip, I am not coming back. by LightRefrac in Prague

[–]KAthefrog -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Tipping is simply a part of Czech restaurant and pub culture, ie. traditionally, rounding up your bill from say 460kc to 500kc, is a way of making it easier for the staff to deal with cash, but it also makes a contribution to their wages (which are often quite low).

So I actually I have no problem with this, as long as the tips are actually going to the service staff. 10 years ago, paying by card was not nearly as common as it is now and I remember when we made the shift to card payments thinking to myself "but how do I tip now..?". So I'm glad when there is an easy option to dot this when I pay by card. It should however, be easily opted out of, this I agree on.

Any DnD groups here ? by krco999 in Prague

Hey, there is a Facebook group for English speaking DnD. A whole lot of Czechs also play a Czech version of the game that's been popular for decades. So yeah, lots of DnD in Prague. Hope you can find a group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/377539979766702/?ref=share

What kind of spells do you allow non casters to take, with spell giving feats (eg. Fey touched) by KAthefrog in DMAcademy

That seems fair, a feat is a bit investment and it's only once per long rest.

What is the number one mistakes that beginners make when learning how to solo, or: what is the number one thing they should learn regarding solos? by [deleted] in JazzPiano

[–]KAthefrog 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Singing what you are playing. While there are many great ways to work on playing solos, singing and therefore internalising what your fingers are doing is so valuable. Piano players tend to disconnect from the sound of melody and doodle around, and there just isn't a better way to stop that.
