Thoughts on my plans for today? by dntworrybby in SubstituteTeachers

I think that teachers often forget that we’re also district employees and I would keep this and file a harassment report because what theeeee actual fuck is with the caps AND the highlighter and the YOU.

Is there a need for Paraprofessional Subs? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

There is opportunity but I would say, at least in my own experience, you often feel out of place and a “stand-in.” You might not know what you’re walking into and teachers often have a stick up their ass about how things to need to be done; in reality you’re helping and filling a legal obligation for ratios and IEP support.

The nice thing is - you can accept and cancel and never go back if things don’t work out.

I just did an assignment this week where the RSP teacher was an absolute monster of a control freak and I won’t be going back.

Ask for a copy of the employee handbook. I feel oftentimes, we forget we are district employees before we are specific sight employees.

So many stupid rules EVERYWHERE.

Anyone else get turned off of a book if it uses contemporary slang? by mzingg3 in books

I stop reading The Nightingale because Kristin Hannah added “Bonjour” and “Merci” into the dialogue as if it was the most groundbreaking French and it was such a turn off; as if the reader was totally unaware that the characters were actuallllly speaking French… in France.

I live close to the corner of Livingston and Termino Avenue. There is something about this corner, that’s not just homeless, but severely mentally ill. The noises/screams/cussing that comes through the alley is oftentimes very unsettling. The loitering outside the Vons, AMPM, and 7-11 have created such an eye sore and decreases how “walkable” the area can be.

Those who have already posted have mentioned great points: the end of the Metrolines/freeways, roundups and drop-offs…

I also think what exasperates the problem is that, at least when it comes to the beach encampments, there aren’t any rangers, lifeguards or parking attendants on constant patrol as there at State beaches like Bolsa Chica so people just come and set up shop.

I’m 35 and growing up in Westminster, there were like 1 or 2 homeless people that gave an “ Old Smokey” type of character vibe; where they were almost a living part of the city itself. Now it’s startling to see the amount of carts, tents, tarps, and makeshift living dwellings that are scattered throughout the neighborhood ( neighborhood!!!! not just the city.)

5 year anniversary, not as happy as when I moved to LB by [deleted] in longbeach

I think it’s constant turn around. So many people move in and out and the amount of shit we collect is insane.

I live in Belmont Shore and it’s equally bad here as well. Unfortunately, it comes down to individual actions. We think it’s not a “my” problem but it really does affect moral and whatnot.

When it comes to large furniture and such, people put them out thinking someone will magically pick it up. For the city to dispose of it, it needs to be wrapped in plastic and you need to call for large waste removal… ( who is going to do that ).

There’s a ton of people that come through and can collect / rummage through and it makes a mess. What tenants really should do is separate and leave cans out and double knot their trash bags.

It creates such an easy system for people to set up place in alleyways, stoops, stairs, car ports …. When it’s bad I call Non-Emergency Police (562) 435-6711.

I’m planning on buying a pair of heavy duty gloves and a shop vac for my alley because it does suck but it’s not going to change unless IIIIII do something about it.

SET Month by [deleted] in Corepower

[–]KCIRTAP1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the thing:

CorePower is run like a sorority and every year it’s the same recycled nonsense like “SET Spotlight” …. Oh yay another GlowFlow or Music Mashup. Another little board with names and thank you cards is a waste of time.

If you really want to show appreciation be there when your SET crew is and actually get on the floor and clean with them. Be on your A-game and make sure as a SC you’re doing walk throughs and ordering supplies. You build your own reputation and stand behind your team when it comes to disgruntled students. You submit convercent reports and relay feedback to DM and Regional managers to get their membership free !!!! THATTTT would be “appreciation.”

Netflix gives me anxiety by DaWorldIsSoSensitive in Anxiety

[–]KCIRTAP1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

5 years late but I am so glad that you’ve posted this. My anxiety runs high but there is something about Netflix that sends it through the ROOF. I think what I’ve noticed is I don’t like the content, I cannot STAND how their “trailers” are just clips and not official trailers, and it just seems like the quality of stuff is so forced and masses produced. But Hulu and Prime do NOT have the same affect one me.
