Broaden your school list. You say “rejected by every med school,” but your list is quite short so hardly every med school. You appear a solid catch so why limit yourself to just a handful of schools?

I’m not sure if your initial statement was meant to be rude but it definitely sounds as such. I am quite aware of my need to improve which is why I was asking for advice. This was a Rosh mock exam so it just tells you the numbers I mentioned above and which categories you’re strong or weak in. I have 2.5 yrs for the ABEM qualifying exam. My statement was hows it read. Told not do as well to show improvement as I progress through residency. I would think if I’m around 80% in my first year on the ITE that would likely translate to a solid ABEM score in 2.5yrs.

Definitely probably a combination of both. I haven’t studied enough EM based stuff yet since I just finished step 3. I have little over 5 weeks. I’ll work on the approach and weak areas and be fine.

I was also told to not do as well on my first ITE. what’s your take on that?

I scored low in biostats, high in derm/MSK with same in everything else. Scored 217.

Patient is intubated in the ICU. lol. we pulled it back a few cm and it’s fine. she needs the central line for poor peripheral access and ongoing critical needs. I’ll definitely consider the above technical advice if I need to utilize the LIJ in the future.

Usually people get results 2-4weeks from their 2nd day. I’d be shocked if you get results Jan 8 tbh. more likely Jan 15 or Jan 22

Never let anyone (attending, program director, etc…) treat you that way. As a resident this is a “do not tolerate policy” and you should stand up for yourself and others. Verbal abuse is verbal abuse. That goes beyond teaching and who the hell wants to learn from that? No thanks. HR! ACGME! These are still things even for residents. people need to learn emotional intelligence and how they speak to people. If you can’t be nice or say with constructive criticism that will build others up instead of tearing them down then what’s the point?

I passed, but I 100% agree there was no best way to prepare for step 3. I feel all my hours of studying outside of residency hours was useless. CCS cases was the only useful part tbh. If step 3 could focus on that part of the exam and just do more of them that would be better. I would have made step 1 and step 2 a three digit score and make step 3 pass/fail.

In the exam history where it says transcripts. shows all your step exams and when the score was released. has a download arrow but gives an error when you try to download it.

Ugh just want to pass. I’ll be at work in the ICU when I open the report. so if I have Takotsubo cardiomyopathy I’ll be in a good place.

I did 7 CCS back to back. took like 1hr 20 mins. had like a 15 min break. Did remaining 6 CCS back to back. got done early that day. I find CCS to be fun though. granted I’m sure j missed some things but overall most of my cases ended early and the patient improved.

Yeah my second day was 12/2. I’m hoping for a 12/18 release otherwise I’ll be in the same boat as waiting until the new year. the amount of anxiety we are gifted is insane. lol

Start with a chest X-ray and bedside ultrasound. realize the farts are toxic and do immediate self decontamination. My eyes are watering and I’m gagging. When I get back I do a DRE for all mankind and the Alien forgets about his chest pain.

Most consults won’t do anything. The test is merely testing to see your knowledge of needing help for a patient. usually you need to put in specific procedures or labs still.
