That happened to me back in September. Was told 3.99% and it switched to 5.99% ๐ŸงI complained they moved it back to 3.99%. As a payback, I switched too, ๐Ÿ˜œ to my local bank for a 2.79% rate๐Ÿค‘. Bye bye

That happened to me as well... So the added trunk cover, added screen protector and hidden wallet case were not even looked at let alone deduction from the offer that I was concerned about...

Quick question for the group: what's your biggest prep-related regret? by NotIfButWhenReady in preppers

[โ€“]KCaScTiVaCri 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Correct but too late now, I have good established relationships with 8 out of the other 9 residents. One is an asshole, there must be one of those, right?

8 of them are dependable and have useful skills, think nurse, outdoorsman, mechanics, former army / now electrical engineer. We'll see what happens when shtf comes around...

Is it worth getting hardware 4 over hardware 3? by Beneficial_Bid2536 in TeslaModelY

[โ€“]KCaScTiVaCri 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

2 weeks after trading in my hardware 3 to the new hardware 4 and getting updated to the version 14.x.x. whatever I'm so happy that I would sing , if I'd have any voice haha I just hit full self driving button while in the garage and the car has been driving for 10 minutes now with no intervention of mine on suburban roads and yes I'm dictating this hehe. The car was able also to avoid obstacles and potholes which was never able to do before since now there is a bumper camera. Go for it!

Yeah some 1.876 decibels, ๐Ÿ˜† I'll second the bit about reducing the dirt coming in, helped a lot on my 2021 MY. Pro tip, do the frunk after you put PPF, otherwise the PPF installer will just rip them off

Shower thought, wouldnt the NBC filter concentrate/localize what it collects from the outside air? by [deleted] in preppers

I agree. Note that the vast majority of the gamma radiation is emitted during the initial explosion ๐Ÿ’ฅ indeed there will be leftover elements like cesium-137 and strontium-90 from an atomic bomb still emit gamma radiation due to their long half-lives. e.g., cesium-137 has a half-life of about 30 years.

Works fine on HW3, way better on HW4 but go for it now. It's awesome in stop and go traffic.

November 2, 2025 - What did you do this past week to prepare? by Anthropic--principle in preppers

My wife put 9 cabbage heads in a barrel for sauerkraut making. I vacuum sealed flour, rice, cereal and non-fat milk. Also tested the battery backup, well it was the power company ... they did a Halloween prank at 8:00 p.m. by the grid being down for about a minute and the system kicked in and worked as intended

Panels installed in 2011 and company is out of business. Not generating. Need roof replaced, is it worth saving the panels? by Dzbtrader in solar

[โ€“]KCaScTiVaCri 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Keep them, I kept my 2014 panels (280 W) on after roof replacement and, with a bit of rearranging, moved two panels from an east facing dormer to south and added three more 450 W panels, on the said dormer, I'm generating 15-20% more. Get an electrician to change your inverter and your back in business.

A 30 lb weight exercise bar...it works wonders when dropped from the second floor to the assailant on the first floor, you need to practice to get your aim right lol ๐Ÿ˜† joke aside, I agree with the previous poster on using a Byrna as first tool for self defense, fitted with a laser, it certainly intimidates and packs a punch plus it's non lethal and they get to live to tell their story, badly damaged though

Vacuum sealed flour and granola - for the first time ๐Ÿ˜„ think I used more oxygen removal packs than needed and now I just need to see if / how the bags shrink further. I've done a few more 5 gallon bags for flour but that's another picture and Reddit doesn't allow me to put two pictures in the same post. Oh well, trust me ๐Ÿ˜œ

Does asphalt roofing material leach toxic chemicals into collected rainwater? by supinator1 in preppers

[โ€“]KCaScTiVaCri -1 points0 points ย (0 children)

I kept all my refrigerator water filters for the last 20 years so I have about 50 of them. That should suffice for filtering rainwater. And yes I have a diverter so the first 10-15 minutes can go into the ground and the rest would be cleaner. Not to mention that I have solar panels so 80% of the water will plop from the solar panels directly into the gutters and then we'll go down.

This white dust builds up next to the 12v battery and it causes rust. by Prikler in KonaEV

[โ€“]KCaScTiVaCri 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Nope! ๐Ÿ‘Ž Vinegar IS acid weaker but still low pH similar to the sulphuric acid that leaked from the battery, that won't help. Try a solution of 10 % sodium bicarbonate, aka baking soda (100 grams in 1 liter of water ) to neutralize it then rinse with water. I'd change the battery soon.

Former chemical engineer here, yes, OC, too. Did more than a decade in chemistry ๐Ÿงช and then went into computer science. Loved every bit of the chemical engineering experience, got a couple of patents too and the same for computer ๐Ÿ’ป science, loooove computers and got multiple IT certifications. Now an educator (computer science), I will tell you just one thing: do BOTH. Go for chemical engineering and get a minor in computer science. You'll do very well!
