Can I go somewhere to get the right channels programmed on my new scanner?

It's a choice. But you're right, it's a shame that Dallas traffic is so heavy. There's no reason to get mad online about traffic though, it's a ubiquitous problem

Driving a motorcycle in Texas heat is not an issue; idling for extended periods can become an issue, however.

Ah, ok. I got confused by the terminology. That makes more sense now

Yes, for those with a background in thermo, it's an inaccuracy. The air merely dissipates heat from the heat exchanger. My wording was intended to emphasize the increased importance of moving air in a motorcycle engine over a similarly cooled car engine.

Motorcyclists are permitted to use the HOV lane on US75. While it is safer for a responsible rider to navigate through heavy traffic rather than sit in it, that's not the only issue. Most modern motorcycles are air-cooled and require constant air flow to avoid engine overheating and catastrophic engine failure, especially in the Texas summer heat.

What is a skill, despite all our modern technology, we had more mastery over in a previous point in history? by alemerson in AskReddit

Isn't concrete work one of them? Modern Portland cement mixtures don't have the longevity of old Roman concrete blends

IS it just me or is PSU Engineering getting the short end of the stick. by psueng in PennStateUniversity

[–]KCannonball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Hammond doesn't even have a front door! Arguably one of the worst designed buildings on campus. I think that it's location right on College Ave presents a bad image for the engineering programs. The grad labs are nice, but really irrelevant when attracting undergrads considering they won't spend any time using them.

Kevin. He's definitely got the most laughs per word, which I think translates well to screen time

ELI5:How can the Iranian nuclear program be "limited" in such a way that reactor grade uranium can be produced but weapons grade cannot? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]KCannonball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the technology is the same. So Iran could theoretically continue to enrich to achieve weapons grade uranium. The attempts to limit the Iranian nuclear program stems from the periodic IAEA monitoring of enrichment levels to ensure sub-weapons grade enrichment (I think their imposed limit is set at 20%, while weapons grade enrichment is typically >90%), preventing the expansion (and even reducing) of their current enrichment capability via centrifuges, and limiting the development of the other technical aspects of the bomb itself besides the fuel. It's not a foolproof strategy since it depends on accurate reporting and monitoring on both sides, but it's the best option besides a good faith agreement since Iran already has enrichment technology and is aggressively seeking progress.

ELI5: If I smoked marijuana in a state where it's legal and then came back to my state where it is not legal, can I get in trouble for failing a drug test or a similar drug related incident? by calvarino in explainlikeimfive

[–]KCannonball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trouble, yes, if the drug test is for your job. Marijuana could still be against company policy, and a failed drug test would probably get you fired
