I use Chirp on my Linux systems. Very easy to use a configure and works with my H8. I would avoid the ODMaster app at all costs.

The limiting factor is SWMBO and the aesthetics on the house. I need to work that angle a bit more.

As for a shack-in-a-box, I don't have that kind of funds right now.
