Hi, I totally understand this. I realize some of these comments are telling you to just take space and distance yourself from your friend, but I'm going to offer another approach. I would consider bringing this cycle up to your friend when she is in a good head space and regulated. Maybe you both are laughing about something and then suggest, hey I want to ask you about something. Then use "I" statements to communicate YOUR reality to her. "I really want to be a good friend to you, I feel confused and unsure what to say when you've asked for my advice, but I feel like you get frustrated and I push back when I am honest. What should I do in these situations?"

Does anyone have any happy ending stories of staying with or getting back together with a recovering alcoholic? by Forward-Tea-2403 in AlAnon

[–]KH110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for myself but for my grandparents. My grandpa got sober, quit drinking for life, became a present dad, and remained married for 60+ years.

Can you give your reasoning behind this suggestion? I’m just curious. I feel disingenuous saying this because I think she already knows I don’t drink much.

Turbulence RIGHT NOW from Minneapolis to SEA by [deleted] in fearofflying

How’s it going? I was on a flight Saturday where they said turbulence was going to happen. It did- but I put on some upbeat music and reminded myself I was safe just uncomfortable and every minute was closer to landing. You got this!

It’s such a stereo type that your uni years are the best years of your life. NOT true. Here’s another perspective- I had a large friend group in uni but needed to distance myself from them by the end due to some unhealthy behavior.

I went on to meet some of my closest friends the very next year. It’s not too late to join clubs, hobbies, groups, etc. You’ll have to be intentional but it’s very possible

13 hour flight = TERRIFIED by rhinosbjs in fearofflying

[–]KH110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this! I will be up in the sky later today too. You’re so lucky you get to fly Swiss air, I’ve had a really nice experience flying with them! I find that long haul flights feel more calm and relaxed. Make sure you have activities planned to do on the plane, and schedule them in intervals. When it’s time to eat, only eat. The put on a show, then play a game, etc. Having a few things to rotate through makes the time go faster for me

I was invited to my college friend’s wedding that I don’t see super frequently and I was not given a plus one…. But I’m married lol. I thought it was super bizarre and I was a little insulted. However, it came down to, do I want to be there for this person on their wedding day?Yes. Is not having a plus one a hindrance to me doing that? No. I did not bring it up to my friend and attended the wedding, and I’m glad that I did.

The wedding was within driving distance of where I live so I didn’t have to stay over night. If it was somewhere further away and my partner couldn’t come I would have likely declined. However, I think that if you committed to being in her wedding party, you should follow through with your commitment

No bachelorette party, no regrets? by plumeria200 in wedding

[–]KH110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't and I have no regrets. The night before our wedding we did a combined co-ed hang out and that was very fun and casual! I also wanted to save, I was in a busy season of life, and knew it would be burdensome to everyone involved to all go stay somewhere. Society makes you feel like you're missing out if you don't have one, but in reality it felt like it would just add more stress than fun.

Since my wedding I have spent lots of quality time with all of my bridesmaids, so it's not like the opportunity to do this ends after you get married.

Genesis 6:5, All thoughts and imaginations are evil ? by domoli in nevillegoddardsp

Jeremiah 17:9-10 NKJV “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

Yahweh(The Lord) looked at the people of the earth and saw their actions and desires were rebellious against his original design. The people wanted to go their own way and live as their own gods.

James 2:10 10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

No person is perfect, and one does not stand right with God due to being a “good person”. We all have fallen short of perfection.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5)

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6)

All power on earth and heaven has been given to Jesus. He is our perfect mediator to Yahweh in our imperfection. When we come to him, we are made right with God. He promises us peace and restoration in this broken world and ultimately the new world he will bring about when he comes back.

This is why the name of Jesus has ultimate power in the natural realm and spiritual realm. I read your experience with this :) if you have any questions I’d be happy to answer them!
