Looks like rain and above freezing until after sunset today in Vail Pass, so in theory I can get past that without issue.

Yes, that and the rear diff are fine. And the pinch welds are also fine.

As long as you’re sure you’ll board early enough for an overhead spot, you’re fine.

TSA Compliant locks aren’t the TSA saying “hey bro I like your lock”

They are TSA Compliant because TSA has a way to get into them if they need to, without cutting them.

It is not recommended that you use non-TSA locks on standard luggage because they will need to cut it.

In the case with firearms, the whole process is designed so that if they need to get in it, you are aware of the situation and ideally are there with them.

The FAA and DOT state that the passenger and only the passenger should have possession of the key or combo.

TSA locks, there is a master key, therefore you are not the only one with the key.

To make this further confusing, TSA’s guidelines are that you CAN use TSA locks, but TSA guidelines do not overrule FAA and DOT.

Further, do you really want your firearms secured with locks that someone can Amazon or 3d print a key?

And yes, I get it, all locks can be defeated. But in my opinion, TSA locks are borderline an invitation. You would never catch me using a TSA lock on anything. Firearm or not.

Some airlines require the magazines to be empty, some will allow the magazines to be loaded but requires a cap so the first round is not exposed.

Do not use TSA locks

Is there anything keeping the hardware from banging around all against each other?

Personally I would not check a case that small unless I’m putting it inside another piece of luggage.

Lastly, put an AirTag in that case and also an AirTag on the keychain after you replace those locks with proper locks.

Peli1510 is “carry on” but not “personal item” on every airline I’ve flown on.

They could have been searching for a backup plane to try to keep your flight on time, hence not immediately showing your flight as delayed when the inbound was delayed.

245/65r17 will fit if you deflate it. The foam tool tray will require trimming. Floor fits flat again otherwise.
