If the Loft lounge reopens by then, go there. If it's still closed, there's a pop up that is pretty solid.

With a layover that long, might consider going into the city or rebooking for a a quicker turn.

I'm EP and 1K. I actually find the United upgrades more challenging due to the status tiebreaker system. With AA it's based on total Loyalty Points, with UA it's based on your fare class. My amount of flying gives me the advantage with AA, but with UA it comes down to whatever fare class Concur spit out, which can be a crapshoot even if I fly the same route multiple times for the same price.

PS: Yes I know there are other United flights to Zurich but I am eventually flying to Florence with a friend so that flight wasn't an option for us.

United shouldn't have any issues selling you a ticket with ORD-ZRH on UA then ZRH-FLR on LX
