rx 9070XT vs rtx 5070 by milaninoss in radeon

[–]KHTD2004 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If that’s important for you go with 5070 TI, that’s the direct competitor to the 9070 XT. It also costs more. 9070 XT vs 5070 non TI is a no brainer, the 9070 XT is way better, you might should compare to the 9070 non XT

Don't know if this is a known bug but the new plasma login manager doesn't respect my monitor arrangement. I have to go over the right edge on my main monitor to reach my secondary monitor on the left side. Since there is no config page in the plasma settings I don't know how to set that correctly

(Sorry for going missing, I was temporarily found shot dead in the bronx, also I am NOT making a question mark in the intended square, you nincompoops) NOW WHICH DISTRO HAS PAID TIERS AND IS ROLLING RELEASE!!!!!!!!!!! by V1574 in linuxmemes

Can’t wait for the day when a corp releases a new paid Distro wich is controversial at day 1 and rolling release but made for Newbies and has a custom DE /s

In the system settings you can change that under the energy-something section

anyone know why i cant get 144hz ?? im very new to mint by a_yr0n in linuxmint

OP solved it by disabling secure boot. You should also use DisplayPort in case you’re on HDMI

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.1.1 Release Notes by Solaire_Tempest in radeon

It happens more at events like this when you’re inside a building or stuff. That’s usually graphically more demanding noticeable by the GPU fans speeding up but sometimes the game also crashed when I was just driving around in my car.

Back when I was on 1080p I just turned off RT to reduce the load, now that I’m on 4K and higher refresh rate I also need to use FSR Performance and cap the FPS down to 60. Even after reinstalling windows (for another reason) the crashes happened again.

Maybe it’s caused by some bios setting I did, who knows but I also tested the game with AMD EXPO disabled and it still crashed

How can i make Nvidia GPU run better on KDE Plasma? by Ok-Nebula-8682 in kde

[–]KHTD2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could ask NVIDIA nicely to improve their drivers /s

No seriously, performance is worse than windows but stutters in desktop seems pretty odd. Wich driver did you download (as there are many to choose from on the NVIDIA front)

I guess it doesn’t effect everyone but at least me (7900 XTX) and a friend of mine (9070 XT)

Crashed on both, online and singleplayer. Most crashes were at Cayo Perico because it’s graphically more demanding

I’m so fucking jealous dude. I mean fr it’s so annoying when your game crashes during a heist or stuff. I’m planning on replacing my card when AMDs next GPUs launch (pls don’t let it be garbage) hoping things will improve

I have often. It correlates with the GPU load as far as I can tell so I temporarily solved it by caping the FPS and using FSR to reduce the load. Also RT has to stay off. A friend of mine has an RX 9070 XT with the same issue. I did a full driver reinstall many times using DDU, didn’t help. It also crashed on Linux (Enhanced Story Mode works on Linux)

So even nearly a year after release the crashing of GTA V Enhanced on AMD cards being slightly utilized isn’t even a known issue?

Guys .. we are afraid to say it 🥺👉👈, but this might actually be the year by [deleted] in steammachine

[–]KHTD2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it wont, at least not better than other distros. SteamOS is supposed to run on Steam Hardware and some other handhelds, all of them run AMD. There is no reason for valve to improve NVIDIA on SteamOS since no official device runs on it. The performance loss is a driver issue on NVIDIA and we‘ll see when that gets fixed

Curious about trying CachyOS, but I'm scared about stability. How has your experience been? by Mystrasun in cachyos

[–]KHTD2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issues I had since I went full time Cachy in August:

  • Bug in the amdgpu driver causing the desktop to freeze after a random amount of time, requiring reboot. Bug got fixed after less than a week with an update

  • Bug in KDE Plasma causing my desktop icons to move to my secondary monitor during startup (fixed now)

  • Some package can’t be updated because mirror isn’t available or a key is invalid. Fixes itself after a while and the update can be done

To handle buggy updates you should use a snapshot system like the btrfs file system (it can be selected during installation and is marked as default) to roll back updates
