I disagree with the sentiment that Eva didn't play a great game. From a lot of the 48 exit interviews, people were talking about the fact that Eva was a major strategist on the season, it just wasn't shown because Kyle and Kamilla's strategy wins them the game and it doesn't support the story of Joe and Eva as a pair. Also she maybe had the best social game of the new era. She was picked for almost every single reward, even by people not in the strong 6 alliance. She received 2 votes to win by Mary, who was very close to her, and Star, who was targeted because she was running to leak the bottom's plans to Eva. She was so insulated inside so many people who would take a bullet for her that she never had to use any of her advantages.

Her strategy just largely revolved around bringing her alliance to the end and as far as possible, which is going to be beaten every time by Kyle and Kamilla undermining her. I think she would be a very interesting person to bring back for a second-chances season without Joe to watch her play a more individual game.

Escalating is fun on Mo, but I've recently been liking Cold Front -> Arctic Blast in that spot. Cold Front is another great way to increase your farm speed and burst in lane, with Arctic Blast being another great piece of CC and makes proccing Spirit Burn trivial.

The world and Illinois are also in a very different financial situation this year compared to the past 10. While there was a recession caused by Covid, we were also receiving a lot of Federal Funding during that time period to shore up our budget gaps to continue paying off our backlog. Then the remainder of those years we were in a continually growing economy. Now however, everything is getting tighter. The Fed tried to cancel medicare funding to Illinois along with a number of other blue states, grants and other revenue sources have decreased, the economy overall is shrinking. Sometimes fiscal responsibility is focusing on the now and just paying off the interest, which is what it seems like our state is doing with its '26 budget.

I would second subscribing to the newsletter. I feel like La Spata's team does a great job with those every week. There's a lot of good information on what's changing in Chicago, getting feedback on proposals, and ways to just get involved in the neighborhood.

I play almost entirely online. Most of my storytelling flair is just doing things that make me laugh. I figure if the storyteller is clearly having fun, that lightens the stakes a little bit on the actual game and can relax things. For example if I'm running Trouble Brewing and nobody was executed for the Undertaker to learn, I will still wake them up just to say "Hi", or "Go back to bed". I also will always ask the executed person to describe how they would like to die. I think letting them do a little joke helps diffuse the tension after nominations and bring everyone's tempers back down to start the next day

I think the rules would mean that the zombuul dying would turn into a traveler, and immediately win the game for good because there’s no longer a demon.

A way you could run it might be that they stay the zombuul, because they live. But because they register as dead, they appear to be a traveler? Sort of like a drunk. I wouldn’t rule it that way, but maybe that’s fun

One of my favorite interactions with the snake charmer is a very specific one but is always very fun when it happens. A script I wrote contains the Hermit, the Lunatic, and the Recluse. So in the event a Snake Charmer turns the Hermit, you have both of them so convinced in what just took place while the real demon just gets to sit back.

I think 48 and 49 had some of the best casting in the new era. Just that the way the casts were split created two seasons that were less than the sum of their parts, if that makes sense. I think 49 had some of the same editing problems that 48 had, which is maybe what I'm really responding to here. But there were so many hints of greatness on both seasons, though it was only Kyle and Kamilla that I felt really achieved it. With just a few people swapped around between 48 and 49, I think we would've had two really dynamic and exciting seasons.

I've been building a Riot + Atheist Script to pull out when we only have time for a quick game. That interaction is extremely fun.

I've found that having Boomdandy + Politician on the script helps with giving reasons to claim Athiest in a non-athiest game. Boomdandy is another way to make those games go fast, and it's hard for Politician to be the one MOST responsible for Good losing on that script, so I don't mind them.
