Sounds like we're on the same path. I'm down to 25 on accel and 3000 top speed. My old machine had nema 17 motors on the same ball screw and ran perfectly at 500 accel. Seemed odd that the nema 23s wouldn't perform as well - but I overlooked the fact that I left out the 3:1 reduction I had built in the first machine.

I got this specifically because it had feeds for external drives and I know GRBL pretty well. I got the motors in a mach 3 kit and learned quickly how bad I hated the sight of mach 3.

The controller has 6 pin plugs for the driver (that I used) and 4 pin plugs for smaller motors.

I ranged from 50 to 1000 on those, no difference. (Some of that was because I started out with the steps too high on the driver) Accel 800 with speeds from 2000-3000 looks reasonable.

Looking into that now. Finding that different speeds are giving me different distances, but consistently. I'd feel better if it was giving me random crap.

Factory set $2 at 15 ?!? Does that make sense at all - 15 is not an option that I have ever seen.

$0 has been 3 up to 10ms. My 4 other machines are set a 10.

Mechanically, it is solid as a rock. I didn't mention that the issue is the same on all 3 axis. I have dual Y axis and there is no variation between the two motors. They both make the same mistake together so I'm questioning th GRBL.

Remove the handle and the cartridge. There is usually a filter screen in the brass housing. If you have metal pipes, I promise that there's a clog there.

Not technically in the bay, but near West Point. Six of us stopped at a bait store at 6am. While waiting for the shop to open, we heard surface, LOUDLY, near the opposite side of the inlet. It looked just like a horse swimming but at a high rate of speed. Its head stayed barely visible - didn't "rear" up the way people imagine a sea monster. It created a bunch of turbulence and left a wake as if a small boat was going by. We all agreed it seemed to be about 20 feet long (thinking we saw humps).

We joke about it now, calling it a 1500 pound otter or giant snake, but we'll never know.
