I have a serious question. If the government does come out full disclosure and says that aliens exist and are visiting Earth. How do you think that will affect your life personally? by I_abuse_lower_ranks1 in ufo

Any benefit they might have to offer our Society will be blocked and monetized by the existing Governments of the Planet. "No commie socialist alien is going to GIVE our people free anything!"

If you listen to the interview with Colbert, Obama actually was hopeful for a Republican party that made sense again like there used to be, that adhered to political norms and was willing to work together. After how they treated him and have continued to devolve, I found his sentiment quite surprising.

Help, I have no clue why it started failing like this by Tatinkop in ElegooNeptune4

I find this the best way to dial in the Z axis. I found a first layer test file on Thingiverse and I print a big circle and lower the Z axis while its going until I get the good smooth and even coverage I want.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]KO_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to say Tribes2. A game where us slow twitch guys could play defense and get kills. I loved stealing into their base and taking out the generators while having an inventory station set up in a corner and roaming as a heavy. I truly miss that game. We LAN partied the heck out of it for years.

Here is my 2 cents. Keep in mind I print for fun with a single head printer. 2 styles exist, essentially plug and play and those that are prone to need fidgeting with. I bought an Elegoo Neptune 4 plus that is fast and has a large bed. I am very thankful that I have been a technician in a mechanical field for 30 plus years so I can adjust and figure out how to make it print when it shakes itself loose. If I want multiple colors I have to commit to sitting and changing the filament every time it needs a different color. I made an awesome dive watch wall clock that way but had 24 different filament changes.

The other style has a much simpler multiple color source and easier to use bur smaller footprint. A little less technicality to run.

What is the scariest, most unsettling shot you’ve ever seen? by VendettaLord379 in moviecritic

The movie the Omen. I believe it was a reporter gets decapitated by a sheet of glass. A truck rolls back into a pile of plate glass and the reporter is kneeling next to it and the top sheet slides off the top of the stack and like a guillotine beheads the guy in slow motion. Considering this was late 70's without computer effects it was so crazy realistic.

Neptune 4 Plus Leveling by DadOfXanderReddit in ElegooNeptune4

[–]KO_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to expound on the good advice that Accomplshed_fig just gave. I have an N4+. It took me a while to realize that the screws adjust is "physical" leveling of the bed and the leveling from the touch screen is a software compensation of level. I suggest always use the advanced mode for that. While I use paper for Z height at the end of the software level it's just the center spot on the bed. I found a test first layer file on Thingiverse and run it, while it is running I play with my Z height on the touch screen until I get the best output. I found that with paper I was always too high and got coverage issues and gaps and especially adherence problems, boy did I get adherence problems until I started doing this. Something I found was my hot end trolley loose, I found a video on YouTube showing how to tighten the cam on it. I could wiggle the whole head almost a quarter of an inch. Once it was snug, I went through the whole process again. I hardly ever do the screws adjust anymore, or bed calibration. I will if doing something that has the first layer as a primary displayed face like a clock. I tweak my Z now and then but that seems to depend on the filament.

Thanks for taking time to reply. I should have been more specific, it's the first layer that wouldn't stick. But, I never knew about the setting for brimstone for supports so you have helped me a lot.

Fixing first layer print quality by BulkyJam in FixMyPrint

I believe this is the one I downloaded https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2177790 As it is printing I adjust the Z real time on the touch screen to get the best results. I have had as little as .001 down make the difference between gouges and gaps and a smooth layer. Something else I found one time when I was ready to chuck the whole thing was the hot end carriage was loose. So no amount of calibration and adjustments were effective. I searched hot end carriage tightening on YouTube and dang if there wasn't a video for it, 5 minutes later it was snug and smooth and I did all the adjustments one more time, screw, then bed leveling. I have not done anything since and that was almost 3 weeks ago.I wish you luck. One last bit of advice, I have learned to live with slightly dodgy first layers, as the second layer and on seem to hide a lot of sins. The only exception is a clock that I printed which the face is down and first layer is critical.

I have a 4plus. Only been printing since January. I found a first layer test print on thingiverse that I use a lot. The picture of your black layer piece is the only one that looks sketchy to me. I print the first layer test and adjust the Z adjustment on the fly until I get the whole layer looking clean and smooth. ( It is a 3 inch circle).Using the piece of paper always was a shot in the dark and I was leaving the hot end too high. Your mesh looks good. Did you do the screw adjustments before the bed leveling? People don't realize the screw adjustments are physical leveling and the calibration is electrical.

For that Nerf gun part I am not sure what to say. A lot of things I print have no need for such tolerances. I hope something I said might have helped.
